After a while, a girl wearing an orange robe came in with a meal of fruit and fish, which she set down before them. With it came fresh water as well. She smiled at the women in a friendly manner. She had some similar features to the archer who had arrested them, but seemed younger, probably not much older than Daenya.

"I don't suppose you speak common?" Daenya asked the girl, taking one of the bowls of fish and beginning to eat.

It was a flaky white fish, cooked in a lemon sauce.
"I speak some common. My name is Koja," the girl said. "I am chief's daughter."

"Of course you are," Daenya said, looking at Koja's orange robes. "So, what is your father planning for myself and Adara?"

"He sent a man to the king. The King will decide what happen to you. Told me to talk to you, find out why you here, see if you are dangerous." Koji's teeth were very white in her dark face as she smiled. She had a more relaxed demeanour than her sister.

"I already told your sister and your father," Daenya answered, drinking some water. "I have read books about the Summer Isles and wanted to see them. The dragon got me here. My father did not wish for me to go alone, so I brought Adara. There is nothing more to it."

"You want to learn our customs?" Koja asked. "I can teach you, if you want? Father will trust you more if you learn things about our land."

"Then I will learn," Daenya said, with a nod. "But may I show you some of my customs? An exchange?"

The girl nodded. "I will do that." Her command of the common tongue was nowhere near as good as her sister's. but she could make herself understood. "Tell me what you know about us."
Adara was busy eating and probably not even paying attention.

"I knew of your houses in the trees, and that you were a tribal people," Daenya said, her food forgotten. "I was aware of kings and what we would call lords, as well as the reliance on bows over many other weapons."

"That is good. My tribe lives in wooden round houses, not in tree. Some villages in trees, not us. We have bows and spears. This is Walano, our main island. The King live in Lotus Port."

Daenya nods, taking another deep sip of water. "We live in stone castles in Westeros; at least lords and knights do. We wear metal armour too, and fight with sword."

"A sword is the big knife we took from you?" Koja nodded. "Very sharp. Father cut his finger when he looked at it. It bleed. Metal is not nice for clothes. It is cold and hard. Do you have no nice robes? You wear no metal now." She eyed Daenya's clothes, which were definitely not armour.

"Well, the dress I am wearing is not unlike many others," Daenya told her. "But yes, our weapons are sharp so our armour needs to be thicker. We ride horses in battle too." She remembered not reading anything about horses.
"Do you have horses?"

"What is a horse? Goddess gives us two good feet. We walk." Koja grinned. "Father walks from here to Tall Trees Town sometimes. We have boats too. We can sail to other islands."

Daenya smiled a little. "A horse has four legs and we use them to get around quicker. In battle they are useful, though not as useful as our dragons."

"Never heard of them. My mother told my father to let you be free of this house house if you prove your trust. Soon I take my little sister to Lotus Port to serve in pillow house. Is our custom, now she has flowered. Come with me. And her too?" She indicated Adara. "Both should come."

Daenya's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean, serving in a pillow house?" She looked over to Adara and knew the woman wouldn't care, would enjoy it.
"I am a princess of Westeros, not a whore."

Adara was eyeing the girl with a curious expression. Koja, however, looked puzzled. "It is custom here. Highborn maids - daughters of chiefs and kings - often serve in pillow house when have first blood. Highborn boys may go too. Is no dishonour. Gods gave us body to worship with."

"Not my gods" Daenya said, not so comfortable with this part of the Summer Island culture. "How long is it that you have to serve there?"

"Two, three, sometimes four years." Koja shrugged. "I served for two years, my mother for three. My eldest sister did not go. She has been to Lotus Port, but not for that. We will not keep you here for so long, unless our king commands it."
She considered Daenya for a moment. "The priest says that all gods are one, but they have different names in different lands. So my gods are your gods too." She smiled.

"Then you know nothing of my gods," Daenya told the woman, an edge in her voice. "As I said, I am a Princess and not a whore. Adara as expressed an interest in serving in your temples but I will not." She finished her water and set the empty jug down.

"I told you, princesses sometimes serve the gods in the pillow house," Koja replied. "I have not met a princess, but my grandmother did. Mother says you will do this, if you respect our ways."

"I can respect your ways in other manners," Daenya replied, unflinching. "Where I come from it is not... it is not fitting for a young girl to sleep with many men. Or anyone, before marriage."
It hurt a little to say it, but she couldn't be entirely blamed. Not her.

Koja considered her words. "I will see what my mother says. It is supposed to be the girl's choice. But my father wants to know you can be trusted. How else can you do that?"
