At Aranya's command I will say. I like Korra and loved my Toph fan service.
Go team Avatar.

That is an A+ avatar Bro. You'd need a shit ton of sand to defeat a metalbender. I mean, sand can erode metal but that needs both lots of time and lots of sand. So to speed up the process and achieve a real effect, you'd probably need to be really fast? Or could you like, slice with a sandbending blade like how airbenders have wind swords and waterbenders have ice blades? Of course, if you're fighting in the desert the sandbender probably wins. It seems like something that would definitely be decided by location or some other advantage. Head on head with equal footing it would probably both take a while and be a stalemate. There would certainly be an abundance of sand in most situations as compared to metal needing to be on-hand or a specific situation. (Note: saying that because turning earth into sand is something any earthbender can do. Although, only sandbenders can turn sand into stone.)

I personally think sandbendng is a pretty awesome concept. Imagine the fine control it requires. You're not tossing around some boulder, you're controlling a thousand tiny pieces of sand at once. The level of control is phenomenal. And it only takes one or two grain of sand to blind someone permanently, choke them, rip out an eardrum. Outside of bloodbending, no other specialty has the potential to truly fuck someone up like that. An evil sandbender would make a great assassin...

Not to mention, a few grains are almost entirely invisible to the naked eye. There would be little to no warning that it's even coming.

Though to be fair to get that level of control with sand bending would probably require a pretty high level of earthbending and sand ending specialty won't be able to get away with controlling a few grains of sand with that much precision with expert probably.

Perhaps, but statistically, there would be plenty of sandbenders running around. It's not illegal or rare, so master sandbenders are going to be much more common.

I keep wondering if after 10,000 years, we've ever had a less than heroic Avatar. So far, it seems like they've all become paragons of virtue. Some less successful than others, but still fundamentally good people. I'm surprised, that in a setting where benders exact such control over nonbenders, that an Avatar has never gone a step too far.

Toph has the best lines!
Teaching Aang how to earthbend: "I threw some rocks at the avatar, he got all whiney, and Sokka fell in a hole."
Defeating the Fire Lord: "It was hot, I was on a blimp, and I think a giant turtle showed up."

Those flightsuits seem to tear pretty easily. I'd just keep them both and allow players to choose.

Agreed. Probably up to the individual airbender if they're a traditionalist or not. Though I suppose it depends on how far in the future we're set.

I'd definitely want glider due to the simple fact that it doubles as a focus for airbending during combat.

I'd definitely want glider due to the simple fact that it doubles as a focus for airbending during combat. Having both options would be good, but I'd say this is why the glider won't be going away. Its simply a practical thing to have, combining a weapon and means of transportation.

Eek! Hope I'm still interested in Korra at that point. I'll probably forget everything by then and have to rewatch all seven seasons again...

So this show is pretty fun. Still way, way behind all of you so I'm not really going to read this thread. But interest registered.
