I have to point out that the next season depicts a really radical shift in the Avatarverse, so I'm wondering how you'll handle your version.

Haha I'd play but there's no way I'd consider adminning.

Same I'm not familiar with it but I am tempted to watch it now. I've always been on the fence about whether I wanted to or not so it never happened.

This is SUCH a good idea--I remember when we were all discussing the show in chat that one day, and I can definitely see us playing in that setting and really enjoying it. Avatar is awesome. I'd def be down to play if we could find enough admins for the game, and as long as it can be managed with law school/SA's and what not.

I get the impression 3 and 4 will be one arc a la The Last Airbender.
Also, my favorite totalitarian Earthbender Illuminati-esque cabal is back! (Was wondering whatever happened to those guys.)

1. The villains this season already might be my favorite in the series. They actually kinda remind me of the Grey Ghost and his gang that Sam and I made over at Bloodfeud.
2. I don't know how Zuko got a dragon, but I love it. Also, his "I hired a man with a similar ability to kill the avatar once...it didn't work." line was awesome.

Fine. Get caught up. This season is the closest the show has gotten to feeling like classic avatar again.

Spoilers as well but I can't do the tag on my phone.
Why will you be pissed if Bolin can metalbend? They've already thrown caution and that whole limit to who can do specialty bending with an entire city and police force of metal benders. And just about anyone these days can lightning bend.

'SPOILERS
Why wouldn't he be able to metalbend? They even stated any earthbender can do it if trained properly. It's lava bending that has be confused at the moment. Earth already had metal and sand bending? It needed lava too? That sounds like something only the avatar should be able to so since it's a combo of earth and fire.
And it sounds like all those reasons are being used as the justification in the show for why he can't metalbend yet. If he manages to, hopefully they justify it.

I agree with you Aranya on most accounts, but to out it simply what should be the totem of higher bending has changed. Lightning isn't the peak of the earth bending skill such in the same way that metal bending is being outclassed by lava bending. I did see a wonderful picture that explained all of the new types of bending plus some for air but not entirely sure if it was canon or just fan made. I will try and search for it in a bit. And I do agree that the sudden airbending for Kora was retarded, and the metal bending was unnecessary. But if you recall Iroh didn't learn the technique of lightning from observing the water benders (otherwise how would Ozia and Azura learn it cause I doubt Iroh would have taught them. I may be wrong in that regard though) what he learned from the water benders was the act of manipulating and redirecting lightning, much in the same way that water is redirected and manipulated and not made. Also I'm not sure if it was addressed in the comics that span before kora and after Aang but zuko first tried to learn lightning during a stressful time when his inner emotions were very conflicted. He might have learned the technique after the war and his emotions were in peace. Edit: that link: media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/a0/db/09/a0db09ee25c18a90c0bdbf120c85075b.jpgalso all I have to say is that Tenzin is a badass

I did some searching and I guess Lava bending was usually only used by avatars in the avatar state, all I can come up with for Ghazan using it is to vibrate the rocks enough to where it melts into lava which I think is kind of similar to metal bending in that way that you are taking a form of the rock and bending it in the case with metal finding the unprocessed rock in the metal. I also do agree that Team Aang is much better then Team Kora, you just can't beat the originals, though I disagree with the air kids, the middle one is the only one that I like can't stand the youngest and the oldest just seems kind of dumb to me.

I think that they need to explain how it works before I pass judgement on whether or not it should be done, they have done it for everything else that seemed odd so am just going to wait for it to be explained. Same with combustion bending, that also makes little sense and has yet to be explained I think.

Well combustion uses chi to work, with the whole hitting combustion man in the eye and it blocking his chi and causing a backfire. You also don't see normal fire benders using firebending to cause explosions, I would just like some sort of explanation on the explosion aspect of it.

The creators have compared lava bending to a water bender being able to create ice or steam. It's just changing the temperature of the element.
Also all bending uses chi of some sort or chi blocking wouldn't work on regular benders.
I'm willing to give the Red Lotus a pass as they're supposed to be badass. It makes sense that if you got the best of the elements and their philosophies together that they'd help each other I figure out new techniques, such as Iroh figuring out how to redirect lightning fe water benders.
I'm also curious to see what Zaheer was like without bending. I mean, did he fight still? He must have been a badass to earn that much notoriety without bending.

I'm sure he was still a fighter, he was able to do that air bending routine pretty effortlessly without utilizing any airbending that should claim some proficiency in fighting, counting how fast he took to airbending. And isn't it mentioned he was the tactician/leader behind the whole thing other then Unalog?

I know he was the mastermind, was just curious how useful he was in a fight before the bending. Seems like he'd be the odd one out amongst the most powerful benders in the world.
