Rhaena, Baelon and Trajan arrive back to Dragonstone, two or three days before Maekar is killed.

A knight bows low before the queen. "His Grace will see you and your companions in the Great Hall, Your Grace."

Rhaena nodded to the man and made her way inside, giving Baelon permission to skip this and go and see Arenya, as he would need to leave soon.
She turned to Trajan and told him he should go and wait in the King's Solar, as Aegon will probably not react well to him entering the great hall.

The assembled men-at-arms do not stop or challenge Baelon as he goes, but they do wait patiently for Trajan to dismount. "His Grace desires to speak to you as well, m'lord."

Lord Commander Brandon Snow emerged, behind a small phalanx of guards. Across the parapet additional guardsmen, armed with crossbows were beginning to deploy.
"Ser Trajan, may we speak candidly?" Brandon asked the former Inquisitor, "Forgive the precautions, but your...chief talent is known to us,and you know I am an overly cautious man." He cleared his throat. "His grace, King Aegon desires to speak to you, but requests you disarm in his presence. If you are amendable, I am willing to hold any blades for you in the mean time, and you know me well enough to know I would not order violence against an unarmed man."

Zyraxes hissed ominously as the guards and crossbowmen approached, it's master standing in its looming shadow.
"A pleasure to see you as well, uncle." Trajan replied evenly, pulling a missive out of his saddlebags. "However, as the newest member of the Queensguard and a pardoned man, I will not be relinquishing my weapons. Besides, I am not sure you could carry them all. If His Grace wishes a word, he is welcome to do so from a distance, if only to satisfy your caution, ser."

Brandon did not give Trajan the satisfaction of looking surprised.
"Then I fear we are at an impasse. We shall remain so until you disarm. " Brandon replied. "The King rules in Dragonstone none other."

Trajan leaned against one of his dragon's scaley legs, pulled a small throwing knife from inside his coat, and began to use it to clean the dirt from beneath his nails. Clearly the ex-inquisitor was perfectly content with waiting.

OOC: my understanding is that Aerion is also in the courtyard because that is where we are keeping the dragons is that incorrect?"
IC: "where did her grace manage to dig you up, if I may ask?"

(OOC: That's up to Horas I suppose, as it's his policy to set where they're kept. I can't imagine they just aimlessly wander around the courtyard with Dragonmont right there, but maybe. I know Zyraxes is there, just because he just dismounted.)
"Grey Gallows." Trajan replied simply, not glancing up as he picked out a large piece of dirt (or dried blood) from under his middle finger.

A guard runs into the courtyard, his clothing spattered with blood. "Lord Commander, Ser Trajan, you're to present yourselves at the Windwyrm by royal command." The men notice that the guard is rather agitated.

OOC: I'm not sure if I ever directly specified where the dragons were kept, but given threads like when we all jumped up to meet Malcolm, they would have to be quite close by, and the Courtyard seems the most reasonable place.

Brandon whistled and Aerion rose and came to him,
"King Aegon said that Trajan is not permitted into hi presence unless he disarms." brandon told the guard not taking his eyes off the assassin. "Why are you out of breath?" He added, concerned.

The guard bowed to the Lord Commander. "Please, m'lord, you have to come at once. It's urgent. Ser Trajan must come too. Queen Rhaena commands it. She never said nothing about weapons."

Brandon Snow was not a stupid man. From the moment Trajan had stated his position on the "Queensguard", he had had fears. The blood and the guards bizarre response confirmed it now. Treachery.
Trajan had made a mistake in not disarming. Brandon had warned him. He wouldn't kill an unarmed man.
"Crossbowmen Loose!l" Brandon cried, to the men on the battlements trained on Trajan.

It was not Trajan's first time being ambushed by crossbowmen, in fact he had received a similar welcome when he arrived at Blackhaven looking for Rhaegar. He had been too slow then to avoid a bolt in his shoulder, but he was not now. As the word "crossbowmen" escaped Brandon's lips, he dove beneath the only cover he had: his dragon. Clutching at the chains beneath Zyraxes' belly, bolts rained down upon the pair. The grey dragon roared in pain and rage, the bolts actually piecing deep at such close range. When the crossbowmen were forced to reload, the ex-inquisitor swung up into the saddle, Zyraxes letting loose a blast of smoke-grey flame that bathed the parapets. The smell of burning flesh was pungent on the nostrils as the dragon and rider took flight, wings buffeting Brandon below.
"The time for the White Cloaks is done!" he taunted, shouting down as he breathed in the ash of the dead and dying. "The realm has no need for men of your kind anymore! It never did!"

"Dracarys!" Brandon replied, mounting Aerion and taking flight beneath the cover of swirling flame. He flew straight upwards seeking the cover of clouds searching all the while for Edmund Waters who should be flying his patrol.

Up ahead, Edmund Waters saw the two combatants. Bastard born and raised a servant, he was rather distant to most of the dragonriders he actually knew, but he knew well enough that the Lord Commander was sworn to the king he'd promised to serve, and he'd never met Trajan Waters before. Fearing that the strange rider was an enemy spy, he swooped down on Aelyrion, urging the golden dragon first to attack the rider. Edmund will try to burn Trajan when allowed to participate in the fight.

A stream of smoke-grey flames lanced over Brandon's right shoulder as he soared high, like a warning shot fired across the bow of a warship, slicing through the white cumulus clouds. Both dragons were now far too high for the remaining crossbowmen to reach.
"Where are you running to, uncle?" Trajan called, urging his beast forward, restraints loose as he had not had time to chain them. "Did you not take an oath to never retreat?"
(No hits. Edmund will arrive in 2 rounds)

Brandon shifted on Aerion to see how close Trajan was behind. When he seemed close enough, Brandon urged Aerion around, blasting flame right into The ongoing dragon before plunging downward in an inverted dive. All the while closing the distance with Edmund.

Edmund was silent, intent on heading towards the Lord Commander. He wasn't one for boasts or threats, so he held his tongue as Aelyrion flew down.

Baelon ran out of Windwyrm, making a mad dash for Seaskimmer. He leaped onto his dragon and quickly strapped himself on, getting her in the air as soon as possible and heading for Driftmark.

Just after Baelon ran out, Rhaena and co did to, She turned to the Kingsguard and gave them orders to stop the crossbowmen, and that if they did not stop willingly, to use the guards she had brought with them to deal with them.
She got on Tyraxes and after strapping herself in took off on him, heading after Aerion and Zyraxes heading towards Aelyrion.

Valarr had just begun his descent into the Citadel when he saw a dragon take off shortly followed by another one. It quickly became apparent that one was pursuing the other. Alarmed, he wheeled Vriskaranea around to warn Edmund. But Edmund too appeared to have seen the two approaching dragons and had flown towards them. Valarr saw that the dragon pursuing was a white cloaked member of Aegon's Kingsguard. Now even more alarmed, yet keen to be of service to his King he decided to intervene. Drawing his sword, he followed Edmund, ready to engage the other dragon rider whom he could now see was wearing a black cloak.,
