Baelon had been about to reply to Daenerys when a chill ran down his spine as Trajan approached. He kept silent as the Inquisitor stole his prospective dance partner. "Here's hoping Trajan doesn't manage to get under her dress," Baelon said to Aegon, "No doubt it would freeze her loins solid. And I would like to give them a try for myself, before that happens." "Daenerys has more class than to give her honor to a man like that," Aegon replied. "Speaking of honor, nuncle, I am sure your bride would appreciate it if you at least pretended at monogamy."

Baelon chuckled and shook his head. "Monogamy. An unfortunate invention of these Andals. But I'll act the part, until I get her with child the first time. Then, well. First night is one of the benefits of being a lord."

"Some might say becoming a lord is also a good opportunity to settle down," Aegon replied. He looked over at Baelon's betrothed, who looked nervous amongst the unfamiliar tides of the court. "Women seldom take being scorned for another lightly." Aegon's eyes unconsciously flicked toward Visenya as he said it, "and your woman has the loyalty of all her knights and men-at-arms." Aegon shrugged. "But I'm unwed, so I should be the last one to tell you how to figure out your marriage."

"It wouldn't be scorning her. It would just be doing my duty to spread the honor of bearing children with dragon blood through the Reach." Baelon told the crown prince with a grin. "But you're not entirely wrong. If I take up with anyone longer-term, I'll certainly be discreet."

Aegon shook his head, though his stern expression was spoiled by the hint of a smile. "Enjoy yourself, I suppose. Is she taking your name, or are you taking hers?"

"I think that I shall remain a Waters, while she shall remain a Cuy. Wouldn't do to have a proper Lady take a bastard's name. But the children should be Cuys. Tradition and all that. Unless I can come up with a suitably impressive name involving sunflowers and dragons, but that seems unlikely."

"Dragonflowers doesn't exactly have that respectable ring to it, I suppose," Aegon remarked with a smile.

"Not at all. And Flowerdragon's worse. Sundragon has a ring to it, but it's just a bit too obvious. No, I shall stick with Waters. I just feel sorry for my bastards. They'll have to be Flowers. Such indignity."

"I hope you have girls, then," Aegon chuckled.

"No, not girls. Can't abide the thought of daughters when there are men like me running about."

Aegon snorts with mirth. "Sounds like an appropriate fate to me."

Baelon grinned at that. "What a fate to wish on your poor uncle! I am hurt, Aegon. Is it your new gods that have made you like this? They're all in favor of punishing people for a little fun here and there, aren't they?"

"You do not need to be a religious man to respect marriage vows," Aegon shrugged.

"And I certainly do respect them. I respect them with all my heart. But if it comes down to respect against lust, lust is going to win the day."

"That may be true," Aegon conceded, "But it seems crass to celebrate it."

"We should celebrate all the gods' creations. I simply happen to celebrate the creation of pretty women as much as I can. If that comes in the way of my marriage vows," Baelon shrugged, "So be it."

"Bravos and bankers avoid each other for a reason. There are no two creatures as diametrically opposed." Trajan said, hoisting her up by the waist for the quarter turn. "One lives for the present, savoring each moment that could be his last. The other lives with his mind always on the future, to brimming coffers on the 'morrow." Dany mulled over this for another spin or two before meeting his eyes. "And which kind of man are you? Living for the present, as I am inclined to guess?" she offered. "A lucky guess." he replied, with a thin smile. "I do hope we are like-minded in that regard."

"We are indeed. Who would have thought we would have so much in common," Dany replied with a half-smile.

"Such compatibility should not be squandered." he said with a friendly familiarity. "I am curious to test your footwork off the dance floor."

"Waterdancing?" she asked, thought for a while and smiled politely. "I am sure you are better than me, after all you have been at it for a considerably longer time."

"Yes, waterdancing." he replied with enough pause to suggest he might have had something else in mind. "No bravo begins as the best. He, or she, works their way there over the corpses of others. Do not tell me your new title has sapped you of your fighting spirit."

"On the contrary," Daenerys replied with a slight smile, thinking bitterly about the time two or three years ago when she had found herself drawn to Trajan's dark side, but that had been before she knew it was all there was to him. She'd always had the odd feeling around him that he was able to read minds by looking into other people's eyes so she shrugged it all off before speaking up, "I would rather our spar stayed friendly. No corpses. Promise not to hurt me?" Even though the question sounded somewhat teasing, it was clearly a serious concern of hers.

"On my honor as a knight." he replied with a grin, in the same teasing tone, the irony clearly not lost on him. "I would not dream of harming the Lady of Driftmark."

Despite not being assured by his words, Dany nodded, a little curious herself. "Name the time and place then, Ser."

"I would never deem to tell the Lady of Driftmark when and where to be." he replied lightly, picking her up for the last quarter turn as the song ended. "Simply send a message when you are ready and I will clear my schedule."
