"And are you?" asked Dany, looking him in the eye with light amusement. "Would you consider that a weakness as most men do?"

Dany seemed approving of his words, and smirked knowingly. "Ah, but now you are just trying to incite me to join you on your quest of piracy. I am not a dragon like you."

"And I'm not dragon either, merely a poor bastard trying to make his way in the world." Baelon told her with mock modesty. "But it would seem I am transparent in my motives. I shall need to seek out some other clever beauty to share in my adventures. Where I'll find your equal, I do not know."

"You look the part at least. I look like a Lannister," she said, grinning at his flattery despite herself. "Baelon! You are about to be married. What would your bride possibly think?" she asked jokingly.

"I doubt she'd notice." Baelon answered with a shrug. "Lovely woman, and she'll make a fine wife, but she's so painfully naive. I spent an hour in a brothel earlier today, while she tried on dresses next door. Didn't question me at all."

"I am sure the other me would disagree with that, at least regarding this little incident," Daenya said with a smirk. "So, what's your most important day then?" "Must I choose but one?" the Knight Inquisitor asked. "Each day that I live while others die is of grand importance."

"No, you're not." He paused and took a bite of his pigeon. "My condolences for the loss of your dragon at Oldtown, I hear the Crown Prince used you to test the Faith's war machines." Rhaegar felt a pang of grief as his dragon was mentioned. "I scouted Oldtown on Vermax, yes. I flew too close to their war machines. We didn't know at that stage what they were capable of. No one had ever seen their like." "A shame I had not been there, Oldtown sounds like it was a proper battle. Not so for us. The Queen got one whiff of battle and turned tail." He sighed, remembering the day. "Will you bond again?"

Finally able to break away for a short while, she entered her niece's party. A party for a young woman she hardly knew but had watched her grow up from a far.
Arenya looked at the room's inhabitants and spotted her brother and cousin deep in conversation. She grabbed a glass of wine and picked a spot to drink and watch. In all the business of her return, she had not brought a gift for Daenya. It didn't make her feel bad, just out of place.

He sighed, remembering the day. "Will you bond again?" 'I doubt His Grace the King will allow me to even visit the Dragonmont to try." replied Rhaegar bitterly. "Traitorspawn aren't worthy of dragons, so I'm told. They are only worthy to die in his service"

Visenya spied her brother and uncle and went over to talk to them. As she got closer she overheard the last of what Rhaegar said. "We are worthy. I am very sorry to learn of Vermax's death, but you shoudl stil bond another if you are able. Our line should be strong. We are dragons, still." She nodded to each of them in belated greeting. She barely knew her father's brother and there was no love lost between herself and her ow brother, but she still wished to let him know that she sympathized...even if she wasnt the best at saying.

Rhaegar's lip curled in distaste as his sister approached, his heart sinking at the same time. He cursed under his breath. There goes any chance of a pleasant time here. Sighing inwardly he steeled himself for the exchange.
"I am surprised you deign to grace us with your presence, let alone speak to me, Visenya. You haven't been chafing at the bit to do that over the last couple of years."
He swallowed the rest of his cup and poured another, adding a liberal amount of water at the same time.
"Perhaps you should approach the King on our behalf explaining our 'worthiness' for a new dragon." he said derisively.

Visenya shook her head derisively at her brother. "Come now, let's not be rude, Rhaegar. I came to talk to you to sympathize with and encourage you. Do not ruin this rare show of sibling affection with your preconceived notions of how I may or may not act." She held out her goblet and a passing servant filled it to the brim. She drank half of it off at once, smiling at her brother over the rim as he watered his drink in a manner most unbecoming of Aenar's firstborn.
"Pick yourself up and go to the King. I cannot win your battles for you. Maegor would never grant even the attempt to win a new dragon to a man too spineless to ask for it himself. Gods know, the King has enough spineless wretches among his own children." She resisted the urge to glance at Aegon. "I know you miss Vermax. I would mourn forever for Silverwing should she fall, but you must try again."

"What do you want Viseyna?" said Rhaegar impatiently. He didn't want to think about Vermax. "I know you. Don't try and pass off your so-called concern for my welfare as sibling affection. This public display has a purpose to it and I very much doubt that purpose would necessarily be in my best interests."

Aerion spooned some potatoes into his mouth and silently observed the growing confrontation before him.

Visenya sighed heavily. "Take another dragon, Rhaegar. I won't waste my time arguing with you about what my purpose is. I tell you this for your own good. I hope you see good advice when it dances before your eyes, no matter who it comes from."
She began to turn and walk away. "Oh- you should drink real wine. Watered is for children. I know I haven't had mine so since I was thirteen years old." She didn't need to say that that was the age she had been when their father was crushed falling from the sky in front of them. "You're a man of the line of Aegon the Conquerer. Please act like it."
"Good day to you, uncle. Enjoy your potatoes." She nodded and smiled pleasantly at Aerion before striding off as quickly as she had approached, her hips rolling under her skirts rhythmically as she left.

"Please, both of you, don't argue," said Elsey, growing increasingly anxious, but neither her brother or sister listened.
Leaving Rhaegar and Visenya to squabble, she spoke to Aerion instead;
"I intend to petition the King tomorrow to go to Dragonstone and attempt to bond with a new dragon, Uncle. It is still a strange and sad thought to me though. Iknew Nenyan most of my life, and all of his."
As Visenya strode off, Elsey turned to her brother;
"Rhaegar, why do you two fight all the time?"

Rhaegar was not in the mood to forgive Visenya's disdain and avoidance of him over the past two years. It was typical of her ignorance of him and her own self-centeredness that she did not understand why he drank watered wine. If the ability or desire to drink unwatered wine was Viseyna's mark of a man, then he almost pitied her.
Almost.
"I do not need or want your advice." he replied, his voice dripping with as much sarcasm and derision as he could muster and not really caring if she heard or not.

As Visenya strode off, Elsey turned to her brother; "Rhaegar, why do you two fight all the time?" "Visenya has made her disdain for me very clear over the past two years." Rhaegar replied to his younger sister grimly. "To her, I am little more than an inconvenience - a reminder as my father's only son of our fall. With me dead, it would be her as heiress to Aeny's line - a situation she could more readily turn to her advantage. Her treatment is not something easily forgotten or forgiven."

Rhaegar lowered his voice and moved closer to his sister, so that his words would not be heard amongst the noise of the revellers. "I am certain of that. Men of ambition do not see our situation the same as many of our cousins do."

Men of ambition do not see our situation the same as many of our cousins do." "Of course not, but it still makes no sense. Why would she think she can carry Aenys' line? If she is allowed to marry at all, it will likely be to some minor Lord, to all intents and purposes eradicating any claim she might make." Elsey took a sip of her drink, beginning to help herself to some of the food; "Why do you two care so much about the line anyway? It is a black spot upon us."

"It's immaterial whether I care or not." said Rhaegar his eyes darting about the hall. "Were it not for our descent, we would not be in the position we are. Our line means we are widely regarded as "traitorspawn' irrespective of our actions and displays of loyalty in this life. We are restricted in our movements and our marriages and even our dragons."

I spent an hour in a brothel earlier today, while she tried on dresses next door. Didn't question me at all." "You are even worse than I thought!" Daenerys said, and shook her head, although her tone was neutral, bordering on humorous. That was a lie, however, because Baelon had been acting exactly as expected of him. As far as Dany knew, anyhow. "I pray the poor soul never finds out," she added, the corner of her mouth twitching slightly. She took a deep sip of her wine and set it down on the table, giving her three companions a measuring look. She'd been itching to dance ever since the musicians entered the ballroom. "Do any of you fine men dance?" she asked.
