Rhaegar heard the music start and encouraged by some guest distraction and the movement to the dance floor, moved deeper into the hall. It was there he saw his sister - Elseyris thankfully - as he did not know he he could have borne Viseyna. It took a moment until Rhaegar recognised the man with her - their uncle Aerion, the only survivor of his father's two younger brothers. Rhaegar's lip curled slightly in faint distaste. His younger uncle had quickly sworn to Maegor, abandoning his own brother, Rhaegar's late father. He did not necessarily blame him for that, given his almost certain fate that awaited had he not done so. But as far as he knew Aerion had done little or nothing to help them since - unlike his elder brother, the late Baelor. As he approached the two, he called out greetings to Elseyris. Elsey turned and nodded amiably to her brother; "Rhaegar, welcome. Will you sit and have a drink?"

Despite the crowd, Elsey felt deeply alone. Aegon's coolness when they had spoken was preying upon her, eroding at her spirit. Even her attempt to find a distraction had failed. She found the talk of courtly ladies tedious, but she envied how easily the others made conversation. Catching sight of Aegon, not just talking with others, but smiling, when he would not smile for her, made her heart sink even further. She saw Aerion, sat alone at a table, and approached, sitting beside him with a heavy sigh; "It's all awful, isn't it?" Aerion was halfway through a pigeon when his niece interrupted him. "No, not at all. The venison stew with the cranberries is quite good though I shall admit the boar is nothing to be too fussed over. But wash it down with some local ale and it all tastes similar enough." He chuckled to himself when he noticed his niece was looking at the people and not the food. He fumbled for words, "Oh, ah, yes. Quite." As his nephew approached, he grabbed his tankard and took a healthy sip.

"I am here, so I might as well." Rhaegar replied to his sister, with a mock grimace.
He nodded wordlessly to his rarely-seen Uncle Aerion, by way of greeting.

"Rhaegar." He greeted his nephew apathetically.

Rhaegar poured himself a cup of wine from one of the beakers that he had seen others drinking out of.
"It has been some while since we last met, Uncle. Three years or more I would say." he said conversationally, attempting to keep the bitterness out of his voice.

Aerion nodded. "Something like that. You've grown since I last saw you. You haven't started drinking yet, have you?" He asked, eyeing wine cup in his nephew's hands. He felt he'd seen this before.

"Sparingly." replied Rhaegar with a mirthless smile, knowing what he was referring to.
"Have no fear uncle. I am not my father."

"No, you're not." He paused and took a bite of his pigeon. "My condolences for the loss of your dragon at Oldtown, I hear the Crown Prince used you to test the Faith's war machines."

"Well that's the beauty of ships and dragons, my dear. We can bring things a world away right to us. And ruin some slavers' ill-gotten livelihoods, besides." "I am sure that if you poke them, they will poke back," replied Daenerys. "Sounds much like starting a conflict, do you not think? I have to agree with Prince Aegon, you should most likely take it up with the king before recruiting a fleet."

"Would that I could, but I think Daenya would think me the worst sister living if I did so," Rhaena said with a grimace. "Have fun though, I might go fly myself for a time, later on." "I will look for you in the skies," Maekar replied. He leaned down to kiss her gently on the lips, before straightening and making his way out of the party, though he looked back over his shoulder at Rhaena, smiling as he left the party.

Rhaena smiled back to Maekar as he left and waited for longer at the party. After some time mingling and making annoying small talk, Rhaena decided she could take no more, and made to leave.
After the guests opened the door she saw the man there seemingly skulking, and gave him a quizzical look. She put one hand on her hip and raised at eyebrow at the plain looking man.
"Are you in need of any assistance?"

Rhaegar felt a pang of grief as his dragon was mentioned. "I scouted Oldtown on Vermax, yes. I flew too close to their war machines. We didn't know at that stage what they were capable of. No one had ever seen their like."

Waxley was at the point in his extended imagination sequence where he was walking down the street of King's Landing celebrating his defeat of a giant knight when a woman jumped in front of him and asked "Are you in need of any assistance?" He looked around wondering if she was talking to someone else. He opened his mouth to talk but the words didnt come out for a few seconds. "J-just here for the party. The princess' celebration. Of her nameday."

She commented, actually surprised by the spluttering, most courtiers were usually outwardly composed, she almost smiled, it was rather a welcome change, "I don't recognise you, are you acquainted with her?"

"I have met the princess a few times," he said, though he had only met her the once, and the other times he had just followed her or spied on her through bushes in the garden. "I'm Wisdom Waxley, of the Alchemist Guild.. I am mostly only here to run errands..I don't spend much time in the keep. How is the celebration going?"

"That would depend what you think makes a good time. If you enjoy inane dress talk then one imagines it is perfectly suited for you," she commented, "if you are a friend of Daenya's why not go in and say hello?"

He certainly didn't mind dressing up his puppets and dolls in dresses, so that sort of talk suited him fine. "I'm not her friend," he said, shifting around uneasily, "I don't think she even remembers me, with the war that went on. I wasn't invited. Which is why I have been standing here. I was going to leave." He looked around sadly. He would have to spend another night alone amongst the wildfire pots and paperwork.

Not moved by his sadness at all, Rhaena looked him up and down and then shook her head, "coming to a party for a princess with little acquaintance and no invitation is very rude indeed," she said, not sounding as if she disapproved much, " but you are lucky that Daenya seems to have vastly over estimated her popularity, and there is plenty of everything, especially space. And between you and I next time just come in, we do not really know half of these people anyway." She paused for a second and then looked sharply at him, "where did you meet her anyway?"

Waxley disregarded her comment about him being rude, since it didn't bother him. "I was just in the area and heard what was going on," he tried to explain under her critical glare. "I ran into her here in the Keep. Running an errand." He sighed, "I really should hire a courier."

Thinking this was probably the person who had provided them with the Wild fire for the war then.

"My main focus is pyromancy, it was what I trained in most. You may be familiar with wildfire a little bit?" He asked, thankful to be on a topic he was more familiar with and relieved that the focus was off of why he was hanging around the Princess' party. "Part of my job is to think of new applications for the wildfire and ways of using alchemy in new ways as well. Some seem to think of us as um, mages and sorcerers but our work is much more grounded in reality." His thoughts trailed off to wondering what the sorceress had been up to lately. The woman was definitely bad news.

"I can be quite adventurous, but I feel like the war might have changed that a little."

"I know the difference," she said, though her tone was lower than it had been, she was tempted to rise at the point about magic not being reality, but she did not want to give herself away, or get emotive arguing it, "but yes, your wildfire proved very useful to us, I did not think so when my brother arrived with it, and it more than proved it's worth. We should have used it earlier."

"I see. Well, your sex is prone to such softness. I should not be surprised." Baelon told Daenerys, only a little bit patronizing in his tone.
