"It seems I am, though the typical green was a little too garish for me," Daenya replied with a pretty little laugh.

Taena smiled around the group. "I would never say anything horrid to Dany about you, Visenya. I have only good things to say of you both. I regret I don't know the princess very well."
She lowered her eyes a little, not being comfortable around Daenya due to their vastly different status, even though they were more closely related than the others.

"Good," she said simply, reaching over to give Taena's hand a squeeze.
"So...did you only just return from Oldtown? Is the siege ended? Is the battle won? Was Ae...was anyone lost?" It dawned on her suddenly that they had been at war and her heartbeat raced. So long she had lived without news of any kind. She had accepted it, and war was some far off place that warriors went, like Braavos or Dorne. Now that these two, at least, had returned, the casualties and losses would become real. She longed to ask after Aegon, and she almost did, but she halted herself. "How fares my sister and brother?"

Dany nudged Taena with her elbow. "Don't worry, we're all friends here," she said and looked to Visenya as she spoke. "Yes, we won," she replied, wondering how the news of this hadn't reached the capital yet. "They are both alive, but lost their dragons, I'm afraid. Your sister had some mild injuries, however I do not know about your brother. Prince Aegon's dragon ate Ser Hector in the end."

"He broke my arm, the Dragonbane," Daenya said, some pride in her voice. She then remembered her uncles death and her face fell. "Valarr died too..."

The smile that bloomed across Visenya's face then was only in a small part due to hearing that her sister lived. The prince lived, and that's what truly mattered. "Will they be coming back soon? You are here already..." It hit her then. They no longer had dragons. Nenyan and Vermax were gone. "Oh. I suppose they are coming back with the baggage, with the rest of the army?" Her smile fell as she imagined losing Silverwing. She more than disliked Rhaegar, but no one deserved to lose their dragon like that. "Both of their dragons gone. How terrible."
"And Prince Valarr," she bowed her head. "But you must have fought very bravely, cousin, to escape the Dragonbane with only a broken arm." She managed a smile for the girl, despite all the emotions coursing through her body.

"I was brave but stupid; he almost killed me but..." She didn't mention that he let her go because she was only a girl. "How has life been back at court?"

"That must have been terrifying for you! You should be proud that you lived to tell the tale!"
"As for me, well, its been rather boring and quiet with the court so empty. Luckily there is a contingent of Westermen here in the retinue of Lord Reyne to occupy my idle hours. I went on a hunt. Not nearly as dangerous or excting as going into battle, but I did get blood on my face." Here, she realized she was rambling, and wisely shut up.

"Blood on your face? How?" Daenya asked, sounding intrigued. "And what is Lord Reyne like? And the other Westermen? I don't think I have met many people from the West, so I would be intrigued to get to know them!"

"Apparently its a sort of tradition to be smeared with the blood of the kill on ones first hunt. I would be pleased to introduce you to them, cousin. They are quite gallant, on the whole."

"I am half westerner myself. I believe I spoke to Lord Reyne at some feast. He is quite handsome, is he not," Dany said. "I was actually thinking of distributing food to some of the orphanages in the city later, if any of you ladies would care to join me?"

"I would love to come," Daenya told her cousin with a cheerful smile. She had something to make up for, after all.

Daenerys returned her smile, realizing that the offer should have only reached Taena for a reason. Now, she could only hope that the young princess wasn't going to have one of her psychotic breakdowns in front of all the poor children.

Visenya's eyes widened imperceptibly in annoyance. Handing out food at orphanages? She could think of ten more painful and embarassing things that she would rather do than charity. Shaving her eyebrows, for one. "Sure, I'm not doing anything else today."

"And after, perhaps we could have some tea at mine," Daenya suggested cheerfully. "I have some from Meereen and the greater Ghis area; we can eat lemoncakes with them and tell tales!"

Taena glanced at Dany. "I can come. I was born in the city, though I was very lucky not to be left in an orphanage else Grandmother would never have found me. I feel quite sorry for all the poor children, truly. And it is always a good thing for a lady to give out alms to the poor. Not that I'm a lady, unlike the rest of you." She grinned.

"Come now, Taena, you're more a lady than others in this court!" She laughed. "Or have you already forgotten your sister?" She jested.
To Daenya of the pink hair, she said, "I would be honored indeed to sample all your teas, and to eat more than my share of the royal emon cakes."

Taena shrugged. "I've no title, though. So I am free to act a lady's role only when it suits me. Everyone has such low expectations of a bastard."

Visenya decided to stop talking and to just smile and nod.

"Well then, shall we go, friends?" Daenya asked, offering an arm of friendship to Visenya. "We will have so much fun!"

"Follow me then, ladies," said Dany with a smile before turning on her heels to lead them to the courtyard where their carriage and entourage of food carts were waiting.

///// Sitting among the multicolored flowers, she waited for her mother. Arenya never had much conversation with the woman throughout her life since it was clear that she was not the one chosen to be Queen.
Tossing the petals of the flowers on the ground as she picked them. Waiting, waiting....

She was kept waiting perhaps ten minutes. Laena was not the kind of woman who got on well with her daughters. She had favoured her sons all her life and only begun to care about other women when she had granddaughters. But she came in a deep green gown, her face displaying a sober expression.
"So you return safe, Arenya. What have you done to your beautiful hair?"

One that I am sure when you hear it may not please you." "..... I have decided to join the Kingsguard...." Arenya looked directly in her mother's eyes,"I have already been by the Lord Commander. We have not told Maegor as of yet."

Laena frowned. "Arenya, a woman cannot join the Kingsguard. it is quite impossible. And without consulting the King? That is most improper! Why would you even try something so foolhardy? You are a princess of the blood royal and your duty was to marry some man whose alliance your brother needed. Indeed, I should have whipped you into obedience long ago."
