"I am having people that I am talking to enough." Kesi said. "It is always being better to be having people that you can be talking to all of time. When you are being alone some people are thinking they are going mad."

"Are they? I never knew that. That's a horrible thought. Some say there is madness in Targaryen blood. When I was little I was afraid I'd get it, but I think I'm fine. Can magic cure madness, Kesi?"

"No, well... I have not been finding a cure during travels anyway. Not yet." She answered. "I would like to be finding cure, maybe be selling it."

"Yes." Taena laughed. "That would be wonderful indeed. I've always felt quite sorry for poor Princess Daenya, though I doubt she really knows I exist."

"Is it mattering if she is knowing or not?" Kesi asked. "Maybe one day she will be getting better but it is past my knowledge to be knowing it. And I am sure that your grandmother would have been looking before for a cure for her."

"Yes, I think so. But she says it's a sickness given by the gods, and even Grandmother does not wish to argue with the gods, not really. It matters to me, though, if the princess knows I exist. It's quite...hurtful to be disregarded just because i'm bastard born, do you see?"

"I am seeing other bastards being around that are not being judged for their birth." Kesi said. "Have you tried to be speaking with Princess?"

"Once or twice, but I think we are just not destined to be friends. I've others, so it's not such a problem. In most things I'm given as much honour as a highborn lady, anyway, and perhaps even more than some." She thought of Adara, respected by none. "Please, forget I spoke of the Princess. I shouldn't have. I would not have you think me ungrateful for the many kindnesses I have received since I first came to court."

Kesi laughed. "I am not being one to judge." She said. "I am being but a servant to crown, no one is telling me that I mustn't be good listener."

"Of course not. I expect you know lots of things," Taena mused. "I'm sure you even know things you can't talk about."
