Visenya made a disgusted face as well. "That yellow thing is a child's gown, and three inches too short on you, now. Mama will have to petition for more money to make gowns for you. You'll be taller than I am before the year is out," she made idle conversation as she followed her sister to her chamber. Once inside she went straight for the clothespress and pulled out a simple, loose gown of green with a belt of silver. "Fine clotges can be comfortable, too, ELsey. Why not this?"

"Alright, that one will do. I like green things. I hear the Tyroshi ambassador has green hair."

"Green hair? How ridiculous!" Visenya laughed as she helped her sister change into the more appropriate attire. Her tone was dismissive, but she couldn't help but feel a glimmer of excitement. Her next statement aired her curiousity. "What else have you heard of.them?"

Her next statement aired her curiousity. "What else have you heard of.them?" "Not much, just that they have coloured hair, fight with strange, curved swords, and they dress in bright colours. Lissa said they are beautiful."

"Lissa also thinks that awful yellow dress is beautiful," Visenya said, stifling a giggle. "Anyway, you're dressed now and fit to be seen by company." She looked over her younger sister admiringly.

Elseyris looked down at herself. The dress was indeed very nice, though she felt awkward and gangly in it. She was more comfortable training with the boys than flouncing around in frocks. She could be congenial enough, but it was not her forté, unlike her older sister.
"I suppose you are correct there."
She gave Visenya an accepting smile.
"Thank you. Let's go see these strange creatures for ourselves. I'm sure mother will come down soon."

"Alright, lets." Visenya got up and straightened her gown. "You can run ahead if you like, I'll be right behind you." And so the sisters went down to the party looking real fancy and shit.
*********Much later, if not another day entirely*********
Visenya sat before her mirror of polished bronze, combing her long hair and waiting on her sister Elseyris to appear. She had sent Lissa for her not half an hour ago, not that she would be surprised if the maid was dawdling again.

Elseyris eventually arrived, creeping up behind her sister, until she was suddenly a face behind her in the mirror, grinning wickedly. She hadn't made a sound, and didn't even raise her voice;
"Boo."

Visenya yanked her comb through a particularly awful tangle in surprise. "Don't do that, Elsey!" she scolded, blinking back tears and patting her poor injured scalp. She combed through the snarl again, letting her hair fall softly about her shoulders. It nearly reached her hips, all told, and was one of her great prides. She set the comb aside and turned to speak to her sister properly. "Sit down. Would you like a bit of wine?" She poured before her sister had a chance to accept or refuse, passing her a goblet half-filled with dark Dornish red.

Elseyris chuckled deviously, pleased at her prank, and sat down where her sister indicated, and obediently sipped the wine she was handed. "You look nice. Did you send for me for something in particular?" she asked, with a congenial smile.

"I merely wished to talk to you. You're getting older, almost to your fifteenth nameday. You've flowered, at the same age I did." She sipped at her wine delicately. She had had another goblet before her sister came, but she did not let on. She felt a bit like a mother saying all these things, instead of just a year older, but someone had to say these things to Elseyris, and no one had said them to Visenya. "Are you still a maid?"

Elseyris flushed bright scarlet at the question, taken entirely aback. "Of course I am! What do you take me for?! Why would you even ask me that?!" she exclaimed, embarrassed and affronted. Her instinct to retort kicked in; "Are you asking because you're not?"

It was Visenya's turn to be taken aback. She flushed scarlet herself and busied herself in the mirror again, tucking a bit of hair behind her ear just so. "Of course I am!" She didn't think her sister would have had such a strong reaction. After all, if one took care and did not flaunt oneself in the manner of Lady Adara...
She turned back to her sister again, composed and sipping at the wine. "Anyhow, has anyone at court caught your eye? One of the Tyroshi, maybe, or one of our cousins?" She studied her fingernails, which were long and lacquered in red.

She studied her fingernails, which were long and lacquered in red. Visenya's glance to her elaborate red nails caused Elseyris to glance at her own, which were short and a little grubby from training in the yard that morning. The dirt never seemed to come completely off. "I don't really know, I'm not used to all this stuff like you are. I don't even know if I want to get married, if it stops me being myself." She let out a heavy sigh, glugged from the wine goblet, then tried again. "I suppose...the Tyroshi Ambassador looks strange, but he's very charming, and didn't just shoo me away like some of the grown-ups do. I don't know what I think about beards though, wouldn't they be ticklish to kiss?" She blushed at the words, and giggled goofily. "There's Tybalt, he's so beautiful, I think his was the first face I knew I liked, since about a year ago, but he'd never even give me a second look, never has. I'm not even sure he's given me a first look. He's a bit full of himself anyway, I don't want someone vain." Her next thought made her look awkwardly at the floor; "And, I suppose, some of our cousins are...attractive, and desirable...and treat me pleasantly, but, I probably shouldn't even be saying that to you." She gave her sister a shy, anxious look. "What about you?"

Visenya couldn't help but giggle in return. "I've never kissed anyone with a beard, but I imagine it would be." Looking at her sister conspiratorially, she added, "Stubble can be scratchy, though." She laughed again, kicking her feet a little in amusement. "I think Tybalt is very handsome, perhaps a bit too pretty for me. I prefer a man seasoned in battle, perhaps a little older, but not too old. And kind. I couldn't bear a man such as our uncle the King. I wonder how the Queen stands it. He should treat me gently and let me speak to him honestly. He should respect our father, even if he cannot agree that he is not a traitor." She chewed her lip and swirled the wine in her glass.
"I think I would make a good Queen, don't you?" she said offhandedly.

"I expect I'll get better at choosing as I get older, you have nearly 2 years more practice than me. I agree with you though, I hope that whoever we do marry, as I'm sure even I won't get to veto, that our husbands are kind and honourable. If my husband is half as kind and brave as Cousin Aegon, I shall count myself lucky." She flushed, realising she had let out more than she had wanted to. Damn this wine! She quickly returned to her sister's question; "I think you would, yes. You're very congenial, people like you. And you can dance very nicely. Court seems to be the right place for you, you move around it so easily. When I try to do what you do, I look like a bloody mummer, all clumsy and uncouth." She gazed at her sister's reflection next to hers, studying their similarities and differences. She hadn't ever felt the urge to compare herself with anyone before. It was strange. "I don't know how the Queen puts up with the King either, it seems he is horrible to everyone. I heard he said some awful things to Uncle Maelys earlier. He doesn't care about anyone, I doubt he even has a heart."

Visenya's expression darkened at Elseyris' mention of their cousin. "Do you find Aegon to be a suitable match then, sister? For yourself?" Her violet eyes were like stormclouds. She set the wine aside.

She set the wine aside. Elseyris almost felt her sister's gaze boring into her flesh, and she felt a rising anxiety in her chest. "I'm not saying that, I was just meaning that...ugh, nevermind. I didn't mean anything by it, forget I said anything. Gods, I thought we were having a friendly chat!" she exclaimed evasively. She couldn't meet Visenya's intense gaze, so she just looked sheepishly at her own feet, shuffling them against eachother, bracing herself for a potential tirade.

Visenya almost forgave her sister, who clearly did not take her meaning when she had said she meant to be Queen. "Aegon is mine, sister. His sisters are unsuitable; the fat one, the boyish one, the crazy one. Besides, he means to rebuild Westeros on the ashes of his father's wars. Remember what our poor dead father said; they will not accept a ruler born of incest. Aegon will change that. He has already adopted the seven gods of his father's enemies." Her eyes flashed lightning at Elseyris. "Are you listening to me, or has the wine dulled your brain, sister?" she hissed.

"I'm listening to you, stop telling me off, you sound like Mother," Elseyris replied, numbly. She swung her feet impetuously; "I don't care anyway. I'm never getting married. I'm going to be a warrior, like father. And if I have to get married, well then he'd better be a warrior too." "Anyway, even if Aegon did want to marry anyone from our family, the King would never allow it."

Visenya breathed in deeply. She was being cruel, and to her sister of all people. She did not want to show weakness, but she did not wish to alienate one of the few people she could wholly trust. Little Elseyris, who had been there since Visenya had taken her first steps, who had pleaded for their father's life when Visenya could only think to flee...
"You are a warrior already, Elsey," she said, in a much softer voice, touching the end of one of her sister's long braids. "And fuck the King."

Elseyris was genuinely touched by her sister's words, and reassured by her shift in tone. She smiled sadly. At the phrase "fuck the King", she burst out laughing; "No! You can't make me!" she spluttered between hoots of mirth.

She smirked in spite of herself. "Not literally, of course. Besides, men die all the time, and the King is only a man." She made a gesture as if to say it did not matter, though to say a thing was to commit treason. "I trust that Aegon will choose whom he wants, and I will do what I can to ensure he wants me."

She shrugged. "What will happen, will happen, but I think Aemy will be off at war soon enough, and the King might be glad to have an heir planted before his heir goes off to fight again." She smiled, then. "As for that, there is some good in the religion of the Seven. His wife will get him all to herself."
