Aegon walked over to Rhaena, took her hand, and kissed her. "At Dragonstone," he said softly. "We need not wait longer than that."

Meanwhile, as the others were busy talking, Laena had walked over to one of the bags they had fetched out from Valyria, currently strapped to Vermilion's back. They heard the clink of metal as she searched for something, then she brought out a wrapped object that had been found in the treasure room. She strode over to Aegon.
"I regret that we cannot have a proper ceremony with so few of us, but it will serve for now."
Unwrapping the object, she revealed a gleaming crown set with emeralds.

Rhaena was rather taken about by the kiss, and blinked for a second, not entirely sure what to say, but she smiled at him a bit, and squeezed his hand, they could hardly wait longer than Dragonstone, at any rate. "Dragonstone, and the whole realm, Lord Commander."
She looked at Laena as she approached, and almost considered getting her own crown out, the one she had found, but it seemed ill advised until they were indeed, married.

Aegon watched as Laena unwrapped the crown. "In time I will take the crown of our family from my traitorous brother's severed head. But until then, this will suffice." Aegon took the Valyrian crown from his grandmother's hands, then placed it on his own head.

"All hail King Aegon, second of his name," Laena said, so they could all hear. "I crowned your parents too. I suppose it is fitting that I should be the one to bring it to you, though you have Rhaena to thank for it."
The crown fitted Aegon's head well enough. Fortunately it was not uncomfortably heavy.

"Long live the King," Rhaena replied, tone tinged in a little bit of sadness, as she put the death of her father out of mind, she could mourn privately later, she had to be strong for now.

"Long live the King!" Brandon bellowed.
"Lady Elsyeris was there word of the King's mother, or your own brother?"

The withering looks from Rhaena and Laena made Elseyris angry, but she remained silent. The announcement widened the black pit of hurt in her heart, and she looked away when Aegon kissed Rhaena, immediately grateful when Brandon spoke to her.
"Her Grace is, as far as I know, safe and well, Lord Commander. My brother is still at large, but I do not know his whereabouts. Trajan Waters was sent to find him a few days after he escaped, hence why he was not executed along with Lord Darklyn. I have heard rumours that he has been spotted around the Stepstones, but that is all I know."
She nodded respectfully to him.

"It may not bear saying, but where there is one false claim, there may yet be more. Rhaegar Targaryen will almost certainly raise the specter of his father. He may convince the Dornish, or some others to follow him, more fool they." Brandon said.

Elsey nodded in assent.
"Though, with the hatred Dorne bears for dragons, I would be very surprised if he was able to summon any noteworthy number of supporters there. There were rumours that he was seen in various cities to the east, but I cannot confirm or refute them. All I can say for certain is that, if he takes up arms against our King, I would not hesitate to strike him down myself."
Her expression was one of absolute sincerity, though there was a sadness in her eyes.

"How is it that you are here, Lady Elseyris? I was under the impression you had been forbidden to train another Dragon?" Rhaena said, voice even as she looked at the other woman.

"There is none more cursed then a kinslayer, so let us hope it does not come to that," Brandon said, "though we're all like to be so accursed before this is over."

"I hope not too, Lord Commander," Elsey replied, solemnly.
She then looked to Rhaena;
"It seems your father changed his mind. He commanded me to go to Dragonstone and tame a new dragon a few weeks ago. I thought it surprising myself, but did not think it wise to question him."

"Yes, that, the odd letter, and him having Ser Trajan declared a traitor, seem highly uncharacteristically behaviour of my father," Rhaena commented, looking back to the rest of the group now.

"Was there any indication he was ill before he died?" Aegon asked Elseyris. It was the only thing he could think of that might help explain the behavior.

"He did not seem ill, no," Elseyris replied, shaking her head slowly.

Laena remarked "Our family is often said to be resistant to sickness compared to other men, but that may not be entirely true. As a girl I read a document once, the fragment of a diary written by our ancestors on Dragonstone, which claimed that House Targaryen always skirted close to madness. In my youth I dismissed such tales as fanciful but it must be considered. I would prefer not to think such of my beloved son, but it might explain the odd circumstances."
Privately, she wished she'd smothered Rhaegar in his sleep, or slipped something in his meals. Then at least there would be one less threat, small as it was, to her grandchildren.

Yana adds in a quiet tone that carrys 'His Majesty seemed in excellent health when I left him.. I do not recall anything that perticurly pointed to sickness or madness, nor did he seem paranoid..'

Laena nodded. "That is good, at least. I cannot imagine my son losing his mind. Meraxes help me, I wish I had been there. I might have been able to save Maegor. Even if I could not, I would have given his killer to Vermilion and scattered the ashes in Flea Bottom where they belong. But damn Rhaella, she has more scruples than I do. She will see justice done according to the law, no matter her private feelings."
And how Laena hated that, though she glanced at Aegon as she spoke, guessing that he might approve of the necessary procedures.

"I do not know the exact details, but I understand he was brutally murdered in his bedchamber," Elseyris replied. "Blackfyre was found near the body, bloodied, so it would seem his killer hacked him to death with his own sword."

Yana frowns in a troubled manner 'was anything said as to how Lady Vira managed to subdue His Majesty long enough? I am not disbuting the claim but she's very heavy with child.. That makes many things for most women difficult? It is easy enough to kill a man in his bed.. But I would not try it with one in His Majestys physical condition.. Not even if he was unconcious, I suppose its possible to drug him first but he did not seem the type to easily succome to such things'

"That is precisely what makes the manner of his death strange," Elsey replied.
