The man seems engrossed in his laying there, but Brandon can see that the man has a clear view into what appears to be the front room of the apartment with a direct line of sight at the front door. He is still unable to make out the man's weapon as his body obscures it from Brandon's view.

Brandon tried to recall if he had any sense of what the opposing window was. Either way, if the man did or did not have a crossbow, Brandon definetely did not. He'd have to close the distance, if he wanted to do something to stop it.
Brandon slowly made his way back down, as he plotted a path to cross the street and access Salladhor's roof undetected.

Brandon has noticed that the present area was not one with a lot of money, so he is able to assume that the window is nothing but a hole in the wall that can be covered with the shutters if the tenant wanted privacy. He is able to make his way back down the roof, and across the street again without alerting the man perched on the roof. As he surveys the opposite building he isn't able to spot an easy way to climb the building from the outside that wouldn't alert the assassin to his presence.

Brandon considered his options, then climbed the roof he was on again, and this time advanced stealthily, crossing onto the roof with Salladhor on it, his hand on the hilt of his sword.

The prone man continues to be oblivious to everything behind him as Brandon edges forwards on the roof. Brandon gets halfway across the roof before the roof starts creaking as he places his foot down.

Brandon drew his blade, and rushed forward to close to melee range as fast as he could, "Stand bound by law or draw your blade rogue!" He hollered as he did so.

The man known as Salladhor startled up to his knees at the sound of the blade being drawn and turned towards the loud outburst. Brandon can see that the man held a crossbow in his hands. As Brandon charges forward with his sword out, the man swings the crossbow pointed at Brandon and lets the bolt fly harmlessly past Brandon to strike to brick chimney five feet to Brandon's left. Before the bolt even hit though chimney though the man had dropped his crossbow to grab a sword that had been laying next to him.

Brandon attempted to kick the sword away. If he failed, the fight was on.

As Brandon closes the distance to the assassin, the other man is able to grab his sword and stand up in time to meet the knight's blade as it comes whistling towards his head. Not letting Salladhor gain momentum, the Lord Commander continues his assault trying to push the man back towards the edge of the roof. As the assassin is pushed back he parries Brandon's sword and using the knight's moment of being off balance, jumps and rolls forward to get himself away from the edge. As the man's rolls subsides Brandon is able to deliver a long slash along the man's back parallel to his spine, cutting deep enough to open up the man's back yet not deep enough to actually cut the spine. His victory is short lived however as the assassin's recovery move consisted of twirling his body and sword around in what would appear to be an early version of breakdance fighting, not sure what the man is doing Brandon takes an ill fitted step back and momentarily forgetting his surrounding the step back almost sends him toppling off of the roof as his foot and leg hits nothing but open air. Brandon's body tries to counter balance from crashing to the floor and is only half successful as he feels a tearing and flash of intense pain from his groin.
As Brandon crawls back onto the roof, the assassin finishes his twirling and both manage to stand up gingerly to continue the fight. Brandon fights through the constant pain in his crotch and attacks the man cautiously, managing to get several small hits to the man's arms and managing to manuevering the assassin back against the edge of the roof. Using the assassin's weakness from the lack of blood due to his back injury Brandon is able to disarm the man with a flourish of his blade, and throwing caution to the wind, jumps up and drop kicks the guy sending poor Salladhor over the edge of the roof and landing with a loud crack on the earth two stories down.

Brandon gingerly lowered himself down to the ground, wincing as his feet touched the ground. He gave the assassin a kick to the ribs, and then turned him over on to his back, and put the sword at his throat.
"I'll have some words with you Ser." Brandon said with a grimace.

The man grunts as he lays there a small pool of blood starting to collect beneath him. "Ya ain't getting shit from me." He rasps quietly and attempts to spit at Brandon yet only succeeds in drooling over his chin and cheek.

Brandon shook his head, "What difference does it make at this point, you're a dead man anyway, you may as well gloat." Brandon told the man, as he began going through his pockets, looking for anything that might qualify as evidence. "Who was it you were pointing that crossbow at a cross the way?"

The man smiles faintly while he looked up at Brandon, "Two target bounty, one attempted." He says, Brandon also notices a twitching in Salladhor's arm as if he was attempting at lifting a finger, "And one failed." He said looking up into Brandon's eyes. Giving the knight a feeling in his gut that he was supposed to be the one that the bolt was meant for. As Stranger searches the pockets he finds an invitation from someone named Staegone inviting the man laying in a pool of blood in front of Stranger into the Black Wall.

The man's smile fades and he opens his mouth as if to answer the question but the only thing that comes out is a low gurgle as his body flattens out onto the cobblestone street.

Brandon scowled took the invitation, wiped his blade clean on the man's cloak and sheathed it, before departing to meet again with Jae Azantys to find out who this Staegone might be.

After his trek back to the Azanty's manse he is again led to Jaes' solar where he was now reading a large leather bound book. "Good day Ser." Jaes states, "I trust my officers and guards were compliant with your requests?"

"They managed to reach the proper destination, even if they tarried longer than I'd have preferred," Brandon replied. "The man who violated the sanctity of your manse, and harmed my lord, was a man named Salladhor, but he was merely the agent. I did not get a name, but he possessed an invitation inside the Black Wall, from a man named Staegone. Does that man mean anything to you?"

Jaes looks up from his book, "Methyso Staegone?" He states in a confused look, "I have met the man on occasion, though his blood is less pure then average. He lives next to the wall and trades in wine mostly."

"This assassin entered, by pretending to deliver wine," Brandon thought. "When I came after him, the barkeep directed me to where he waited in ambush for me." Brandon said. "Now another wine merchant's invitation is in his pocket. Curious. Can you think of any reason Staegone would have to wish ill upon his grace the Prince?"

"I cannot think of any reasons that Staegone would have against the Prince, though if I remember the details of his business correctly. The man specializes in Lysene wines." Jaes states eyeing Brandon.

"That is suggestive," Brandon said. "Could I trouble you to invite this Staegone to dinner in the relative near future? I should like to meet him."

"Of course, I will invite him over to discuss a new business proposition on the morrow. Though if I make this meeting happen, I would like to request that you go without wearing your sword for the evening." Jaes states folding his hands in front of him. "If it is to come to blood, I would rather have him taken into custody privately rather then in the midst of a dinner party." Jaes states openly.

Brandon looked at the man, "I am not a drunken lout that needs to be disarmed and rousted from the tavern for brawling. I can keep a civil tongue, and a civil blade. A kingsguard must ever be ready to protect his charge's life and honor. We do not disarm." He looked steadily at Jaes. "If the man should prove worthy of arrest on that very evening, I will swear on my honor that I will allow you to take him into custody in your own fashion."

"Your charge is confined to bed rest, to recover from the poisons affect. I do not hold to the belief that a guest of the dinner be ready for combat, if you feel the need to have your sword nearby, we can have it hanging off of the back of your chair within easy reach throughout the meal." Jaes says opening up his hand. "Staegone might be hesitant to discuss such matters if his dinner partner is armed."
