Aerion smiled. "You fought well, the honor is mine."

"Well, I found years ago that I was terrible at needlework and being courtly, so I compensated by learning how to hit things with blunt objects," Elsey laughed, handing the wooden sword over to an attendant, and awaiting the presentation of the reward.

The master of ceremonies came over with a smile and a bow. "Ser and my lady, here is your reward." He offered Elsey the winner's purse. "You fought very well together."

Elsey bowed, still beaming;
"Thank you."
She then turned her attention to Ser Jaime and Monty, subduing her grin and making her demeanor more gracious as she sidled over to them.
"A fine bout, thank you," she said with a bow, containing the urge to dance a merry jig. "I would like to conclude our wager, Ser Jaime."

Ser Jaime smiled pleasantly, though he was privately fuming at the loss, and to a girl;. He bowed politely to her. "Come to Lord Reyne's office tomorrow at noon and you'll have your coin. I regret I did not bring my purse to the party."

"Thank you, I will," Elsey replied, smiling sweetly, before returning to Aerion's side.
"So, uncle, what shall we do with our winnings?"

"We should be free to do as we like. But splitting dragons should not be done here." Aerion glanced about suspiciously. "I'll take my leave for the evening. Give me the coin to guard and I shall return your share on the morrow."

"As you say," said Elsey, pressing the purse into Aerions hand. "Come by the Master of Coin's office in the afternoon. I'll be there to collect from Westerling, so it will be handier that way".

Sergio appeared out of the crowd holding two goblets of wine, and offers one with a smile to Elseyris. "Congratulations my dear. It seems that the rumors of your deadly skills were confirmed." His eyes twinkled as he studied the beautiful woman.

Elsey turned to face Sergio with a broad smile and took the offered goblet;
"My Lord Sergio! Thank you! It was a lot of fun. Between you and I, it was rather satisfying to beat a knight, despite being untrained with a sword."

Sergio nodded, "I did not see you defeat a knight. Which of the brutes did you lay waste to?" He reached out and used his finger to remove a spot of mud from her face.

She flinched a little at the unexpected touch, but allowed it.
"Ser Jaime Westerling. The one with the blonde curls that smiles at anything in a dress," she said, with an amused smirk. She was clearly a little drunk, and feeling pleased with herself.
"I did manage to be gracious about it in front of him though. Just."
She giggled.

"Can you imagine only smiling at woman in dress... it is outrageous. I smile at woman no matter what they are wearing." He offered her a warm smile. "I am smiling at you even though you are caked in mud."

Elsey glanced down at her ruined dress. In her typical manner, she had not cared about the mud, and it did not occur to her that fighting in it would be to her detriment. She laughed, and shrugged in mock shame;
"That is well then. I don't normally dress up this much. My mother and sister would be affronted if they saw the mess I'm in now."
Although she laughed, a flicker of something akin to sadness crossed her face, as she thought of her absent family.

"Well I am sure I have something in your size inside." Sergio offered her his arm. He sipped his wine and studied her, "You are not quite so disheveled to bring dishonor to your family, but I am a foreigner what do I know?"

Elsey took his arm and allowed him to lead her inside.
"My family couldn't be much more dishonoured than it is already, My Lord."

He lead her inside and up the stairs to his manse and said, "Your mother and Brother are safe. Did they get word to you yet?" Sergio looked at her, and added, "I am sorry my agents were not able to free you that night."

Elsey looked at him in shock for several seconds.
"You... it was you that did that? How?"

"Your mother asked for my assistance in freeing her children. I was able to free the three of them, but your sister refused." Sergio replied, "And it was not me, but my agents in the keep who affected their freedom." He lead her into a bed room and sat down in a divan, filling her goblet with wine.

"I see..." Elsey said flatly, the news still sinking in. She took a long drink from her goblet, then took a deep breath.
"What became of the old woman who tried to free me? Did she get away from the guards?"

"She was not truly an old woman, but she died from the wounds she took." Sergio leaned forward and took her free hand and squeezed it. "I am very sorry. I should have come for you myself. It was my mistake. I will make amends to you one day. This I swear."

"I am sorry that she died. She fought bravely," said Elsey, her expression confused and sad. "I am glad that my mother and Rhaegar are safe."
She squeezed his hand back.
"And, I suppose, I am glad to be alive. When I awoke, in the Grand Maester's chambers, I was surprised that Trajan had not just let me drown in my own blood. Mercy is not something he is known for."

"It was not his mercy that saved you. He has none. It was the King's. He still has a shadow of kindness in his heart." Sergio replied. He studied her face and smiled, "So you remember that you carry a chit with my name upon it."

"Was it kindness? Or did he not want to miss humiliating me by marrying me to the man who tortures me?" Elsey replied, bitterness creeping into her voice as her eyes grew dark, tears welling up.
"I had not long regained consciousness when I was forced into a wedding gown and made to say false words, before false gods, so subdued by fear and drugs that I barely felt present at all. No-one with a shred of kindness in them would have ordered such a thing."

Sergio wrapped an arm around her shoulder, "I am sorry. I should never have brought this up. False words do not make a marriage. You are no more married then I?" He squeezed as he spoke with a gentle touch.
