In his East Gardens there is a band playing dour music. There is thick mead, and hard ales. A large pit of mud has been made. Two rooms have been constructed of screens, one for men and one for woman. There is a bath also screened in.
Couple who are brave enough to volunteer are being given woolen pantaloons and shirt and a wooden sword. Then allowed into the mud pit. The woman must ride the man's shoulders, and they are allowed to try and unhorse the other combatants. There is a thick purse of gold hanging over the middle of the pit, and the winners will take it. Couples are allowed to enter for a single gold dragon, and all the gold will be given to the last couple at the end of the evening.

Elseyris entered the gardens, taking deep breaths to clear her rather liquor-dazzled head. Spotting her uncle, Aerion, spectating, she sidled over to him and tapped his arm;
"This looks entertaining, are you thinking of participating?"

Aerion looked down to see his niece. "Elseyris." He smiled. "The Lord of Light was good to bring you here. I have been watching this queer game for too long, but I had no partner to compete with. Clearly this meeting was not by chance. Would you join me?"

Elseyris' head tilted quizzically;
"I did not know you had converted, Uncle. I hope your newfound faith is serving you well." She briefly thought on how things had been for her since converting to the Seven, but pushed the thought away.
"Yes, I'd love to join in, it looks fun! I'm not trained in swordsmanship, but perhaps my own brand of violence will serve," she said with a chuckle.

"I serve the Lord of Light." Aerion corrected her. His hands slipped into his sleeves before producing a single golden dragon. "A token from our beloved Baelor."

Elseyris looked at the coin, Aerion's mention of Baelor causing a solemn expression to cross her face.
"I miss him a great deal. We have lost too many of our family recently."

"Indeed." He closed his fist around the coin. "And they shall be remembered." His eyes gazed about the arena. "Do you see the gamemaster? I appear to have lost sight of him."

"I never had sight of him in the first place," replied Elsey, looking around.

"Come then." Aerion grabbed his niece's hand and pushed his way through the gathered crowd, searching for his man.

After a while they found the man, who grinned at them. "How can I help you, my lord and my lady?"

"We wish to compete." Aerion answered simply, providing his gold dragon to do so.

"Ah.! The man looked the two of them over. "Your names? I'll have to go find your opponents."

"Lord Aerion Strongdragon, and Lady Elseyris Targaryen," stated Elsey, with a winning smile.

"I shall make a note of that." The master of ceremonies quickly fetched their opponents, Ser Jaime Westerling and Monty Velaryon. Ser Jaime grinned at the two and bowed. "Ah, I feel quite at a loss amid all these fine opponents with royal blood," he joked. "Shall we?"

Elsey bowed in return;
"Think nothing of it. We're all about to be scrapping in the mud, after all," she said, with a chuckle. "Lead on!"

Ser Jaime grinned. "Care to make it interesting? A little wager in addition to the winnings?"

Elsey looked at him thoughtfully for a moment, then a bold, wicked smile spread across her face;
"You're on! Shall we say ten dragons?"
She stuck out her hand towards Jaime, awaiting the handshake of agreement.

"Ten will serve." He shook her hand, then raised it to his lips in a gallant kiss. "I wish I didn't have to beat a lady, but it would be dishonourable not to try my hardest, wouldn't it?"

"That's alright, I wish I didn't have to divest you of your gold, but we all must bear our burdens," Elsey retorted with playful defiance.

OOC - guys, do you want me to roll this somehow? It was a Smith idea and I'm not sure what his intentions were so I will have to make up some way of doing it.

"That one is good at smiling." Aerion muttered, unimpressed. "Do not hesitate. Victory is everything." He sank to one knee to allow his niece upon his shoulders.
OOC - Yeah, Smith is pulling a Smith, so if you can roll, that'd be great Marie. Use your imagination!

Elseyris and Monty Velaryon climb up on the shoulders of their partners, the young Velaryon flushing and trying to ignore the jibes of those who thought it was only to be male and female pairs. Ser Jaime remarked cheerily "I don't know any ladies who would want to get dirty fighting." But soon enough they were ready and the bout began.
Aerion and Jaime moved forward to the urging of their partners. Their job was to give the fighters a steady seat and move as directed. Elsey urged Aerion forward. They moved a little too fast, though, walking into Monty's sword strike. Yet Aerion moved aside just in time and the wooden blade missed Elsey and merely glanced off Aerion's broad chest. Elsey's confidence grew and she struck out boldly, hitting Monty on the leg. Sitting on Ser jaime's shoulder with his legs in full view, Monty couldn't avoid the blow. The fight continued. They exchanged blows, wood hitting wood, until Monty slipped inside Elsey's hard to hit her free arm. She winced and urged Aerion to back away. Again they fought, neither getting the advantage over the other, until Elsey saw her chance and struck a blow to Monty's thigh. She and Aerion were encouraged. Aerion charged in with a roar and Elsey dealt Monty a heavy hit to the side. He clutched at Ser Jaime, unwittingly putting his eyes over the knight's eyes. Ser Jaime cursed as the boy swayed on his shoulders. Ser Jaime stumbled and the two fell in a heap on the floor.
The games master cried out "Lord Aerion and Lady Elseyris are victorious! Come and claim your prize."

Elsey whooped with triumph, and clambered down from Aerion's shoulders. She was sweating and flecked with mud, but she didn't care. Grinning widely, she took her uncle's arm as they walked over to where they were to claim their prize;
"Thank you," she whispered. "That was so much fun!"
