A masquerade hosted by the Triarch Nyanna Maegyr, of the Tigers. The ballroom is decked out in a myriad of colours, the silk hangings shifting and shimmering, many segments threaded through with gold to increase the sensation. Candlelight casts shadows about the room as well as illuminating many areas. The theme of the party is Heroes of Valyria (creativity welcomed).

Jaes is one of the first there as he helped overlook the slaves setting up the decorations. His clothes are a dark blue silk embroidered tastefully with silver swirl designs. He has a matching silver scarf wrapped around his neck that rises to his chin, his mask is a lighter blue and darker silver that swirls around each other, a mask that his family had acquired and cleaned up from one of their adventures, and what he thought represented the moon or ocean.

Aegon wore green, black, and blue, a handsome checked cloak of the same colors trailing behind him. Penance at least was thematic, and Aegon wore it at his hip, while a constellation of stars was etched across his reflective mask.

Rhaena came dressed from head to toe is a light blue, so light it appeared white. The dress was cunning, it was one long piece of material, that tied high round her neck, loosely covered her breasts, then went off behind her back, leaving everything but them exposed, it wrapped around her waist after being behind her back, and hung low on her hips. She was barefoot, which showed where the dress was higher off the ground, then petered to trail long behind her, she'd loosely painted the bottom of her legs red, to the Same level that the material was dyed a deep blood red. Her mask was also red, and covered the area round her eyes, her lips painted red to match.
It was an outfit anyone who knew the old stories would recognise, of Dracaella the first unburnt. A shepherds daughter, who had beseeched the gods after the flock of her father was killed on her watch. She begged that the dragon would kill her too, lest she face the wrath of her father, and upon approach, she faced the dragons fire and came away unburnt, and became the first tamer of a dragon. The red represents her walk through the field of blood and gore of both Shepard hands and sheep,to meet her fate.

Aegon drifted about the party, having no one he particularly wished to approach and no way to know who they were if he did. At least the initial topic of conversation in each meeting was supplied for him.
He bumped into Jaes, looking at his swirling mask. "What does your costume represent?" Aegon asked. It was easy to guess who Aegon was under his mask -- if the axe did not make it obvious enough, him speaking in Westerosi was a dead giveaway.

Jaes gestures both his arms down in a bow, sending his long sleeves down in a bow, "I am the ancient hero's representing both the light and dark spirits, the perfect balance of life. Each battling to control the other in an everlasting battle to control the world." He states.

"I am unfamiliar with that tale," Aegon replied, "But an interesting duality. I suppose one could say the same about most men -- locked in battle between their better natures and darker impulses."
"I am Therys the Navigator. He charted first the heavens, then used that map to explore the world. He was the first Valyrian ever to set foot in Westeros," Aegon added. "I am far from the first Westerosi to set foot in Volantis, but I enjoyed the symmetry." The green, blue, and black checked cloak that Therys was said to wear represented where he had been -- the green land, the blue sea, and the dark night sky, while the star mask represented his charts of the constellations.

"We must not have kept that knowledge since the doom, I'm sure the scholars at our library would be eager to listen and gain that information." Jaes states friendlily.

"I just know the old tale," Aegon replied with a chuckle, "I doubt I can tell your scholars anything they do not already know."

Princess Laena wore a striped gown of Targaryen black and red, simple and elegant. She wore a black half-mask.
Two women entered shortly after the princess. One wore masculine attire of a tunic and tight fitting breeches that showed off her legs, with a painted wooden sword at her hip. Her silvery hair fell in loose tumbles down her shoulder. With her was another woman of a similar age, whose long dress was a soft, deep green fabric, with a low, tight bodice, tight sleeves and a skirt that clung to her legs. Deeper green scraps of silk were sewn to the skirt to give the appearance of scales. Her nails were painted red. She wore a tight gold choker and her mask was formed of the same grey silk and fashioned in the form of a dragon. The first woman walked with a swagger, the second seemed to glide in delicate silk slippers.
The woman with the painted sword approached Rhaena. "Good evening," she said brightly. "You look like you have just come from a battlefield."
The other woman, the one in the dragon costume, slid over to Jaes and Aegon. "Ah, you both have wonderful costumes. What do you make of mine? Am I fierce enough?"

Brandon wore a blackened mail shirt, over a black tunic, brown breeches, and brown boots. But he wore a bright red cape, and a bright red arming cap, to which little streams of red silk had been attached. He looked miserable.

Brandon was approached by a woman wearing a tiger mask and a wraparound gown of bright orange silk striped with black, cinched at the waist with a wide belt of black leather to give her the perfect hourglass figure. Her long fingernails were painted black and she wore a gold bracelet in the shape of a tiger around one forearm, her feet encased in black leather sandals.
"My friend, do you not enjoy the party?" She asked in a soft, sultry voice. She beckoned to a man carrying a tray of dark wine. "Please, will you not have a drink?"

"Thank you," he said, taking the wine glass in his left hand, but not bothering to actually drink it.
"I found the theme difficult to meet," he said. He gestured at his outfit, "I'm supposed to be one of the 14 volcanos. I feel like an ass."

The woman burst out laughing, her tone low and musical. "Oh, but you tried. Nobody could fault that." She took a sip of wine and then reached up to touch one of the red streamers. "Perhaps a little more lava would have been more appropriate. Your volcano hasn't erupted very much, has it? I have never seen an eruption, but I have always thought volcanoes to be much fiercer, with a great deal of lava." She leaned in close so he could smell her delicate perfume. "You do not seem the kind of man who likes parties much."

Why do you dislike them so much?" "Tremendously fierce, my lady," Aegon replied with a soft smile. "Your enemies must tremble before you." "I'd hope so. Though I'd rather not have any enemies at all. I would rather have everyone bow down to me and worship my glory. And shower me with gold and gifts, of course." She smiled and stepped closer. "You are the Prince of Westeros. I have been told you ride a dragon. Does it make you feel like a god to ride a dragon?"

"It makes me feel like a man, just farther off the ground," Aegon replied, dryly enough that it is unclear whether the sentiment was genuine or an attempt at humor. "I am indeed the Prince of Westeros, though you have me at a disadvantage. What is your name, my lady?"

Why do you dislike them so much? "Because they bring large crowds, and diverse people, which is troublesome in my profession," he replied.

"That is very true. But you look very...bloody. That amuses me. It is a clever costume. One of my ancestors was a pirate queen, back when Volantis was young, so I thought to dress as her. I have always thought the pirate's life might be fun." "It makes me feel like a man, just farther off the ground," Aegon replied, dryly enough that it is unclear whether the sentiment was genuine or an attempt at humor. "I am indeed the Prince of Westeros, though you have me at a disadvantage. What is your name, my lady?" She smiled. "I am the dragon Andraste, a famous beast from before the Doom. My rider was a powerful sorceress," she replied. "After all, I had to choose a costume, and what better to honour our guests than to come as a dragon." She glanced at Jaes. "My friend, it is good of you to offer our visitors your hospitality, and you have the thanks of House Maegyr for not keeping them all to yourselves. Have you planned any more events for their..." She paused slowly and glanced at the prince "...delectation?" Why do you dislike them so much? "Because they bring large crowds, and diverse people, which is troublesome in my profession," he replied. "Oh. You are a knight, I can see that. But tell me, why should crowds be a problem for a knight? You have a sword, after all. Is that not sufficient protection? I am sure nobody here means you harm."

"I am Kingsguard. My duty is to protect the life of my charge," Brandon replied, gesturing to Aegon not far away, "Crowds are part of the job, but its only when they go away, and his grace retreats to his apartments for the evening, that I can begin to relax."

"Legend has it she was very bloody, Just wearing a blue dress is not really going to help people work out who I am," she said, smiling a little and looking the other woman up and down, the costume didn't look like a lot of effort and she had thought valyrian heroes were the theme, not heroes of volantis, "She must have been a great lady, for her memory to have lived so long."

"You are safe here, and so is he." She reached out to touch his shoulder, very gently. "I am sure you can use tonight to relax. It would be a terrible crime to harm a guest here behind the Black Wall, in the house of a Triarch. Oh, you had a bit of fluff stuck to you," she lied. "We have guardsmen posted, see." She indicated the men in the tiger livery standing by the doors. They were slave soldiers with stripes tattooed onto their cheeks. "Legend has it she was very bloody, Just wearing a blue dress is not really going to help people work out who I am," she said, smiling a little and looking the other woman up and down, the costume didn't look like a lot of effort and she had thought valyrian heroes were the theme, not heroes of volantis, "She must have been a great lady, for her memory to have lived so long." "Oh yes. It's said that her money helped found parts of the city, when we were just an outpost ruled by Valyria. All the men wanted her to be their wife or mistress, but she always said no. But it's said she took one lover, and never told his name. She is my own ancestor. Or so the legends say." She laughed. "In our family, it's rumoured that the her lover was a dragonrider, that he rode a black whose wings were so large they blocked out the sky. But it's just a silly story. I expect you know better than I if a dragon could ever be that big."
