Yana gives a slient glance in the man that spoke direction at his words Treason?! she gives a mental sigh and helps where she can to hurry up the dismantling of camp and packing and loading the dragons, Spinel gives an indignant snort at the suggestion shes slow, Yana chuckles 'I see far bigger than you here Spinel, I recon its more like that we'll have to keep the speed down than the other way around' she says teasingly with a friendly smile, she looks at the way the Princess and Tyraxes interact and grins 'I'm not really sure why that is.. people keep saying that only suffer their riders hand but I've never known Spinel to be moody with anyone unless they've had intent to harm'

"Dragons are as different in temperament as people, some have less bite than others." She said and then looked at Yana. "You have not been connected to the main royal line for long, do your loyalties lie with his grace?"

'Having left House Manderly, I am currently looking for a pernament employer.. and once employed and have sworn to such then my loyalties will be to the interests of and to the person the oath is to.. His Majesty did not require fealty of me before charging me to come here.. I am assumming he wishes to see how I go about some small tasks before he decides'

"If you want employment, then you are welcome to enter mine." Rhaena said, "rather than attempting to impress the king. One day I will be the queen. "

Yana's eyes slide for a split second to the curiously behaving Laena, Rhaena may or might not notice the swift glance 'What are your requirements of employment? and are you wanting it to be you alone no matter what or whom, even against your future.. or current? ..husband or chiildren.. or to your house's interests? Not meaning to sound pessimitic.. but the line of succession does not always run as smoothly as you make it sound'

"Have I made it sound simple?" Rhaena asked. "The line of succession is simple, it is people not following it that makes things complicated. This letter contains the potential of just such a situation, but the line is clear. Aegon is to be king after my father, if he does without issue, then it goes to me, but Aegon is my betrothed, do I shall be his queen, the only thing that will stop it is my death, in which case you will be graciously relieved of your post" She said, "but my families interests are my interests,"

Yana nods slightly in aknowlement of the princesses words 'what exactly are the values and concerns of the royal house?.. Either way to whom i choose to serve I am task bound to report to His Majesty that the letters been safely delivered once we reach Kings Landing.'

As Laena read the letter, the remaining colour drained from her face and she clutched it in anguish. "My son," she whispered. "Meraxes preserve us. So I was right to be concerned." She stiffened her back and folded the letter, stowing it safely away before glacing at her granddaughter. "We must certainly hurry back. I have given too much to House Targaryen to see the kingdom plunged into ruin."
She moved to ready Vermilion's harness.

"Of course, we all serve the king, and the king serves the realm, he is not called father of the realm for a reason, he needs to act for its interest, even if it is not seen as such at the time. That's the business of ruling, and ruling is the business of the royal family." Rhaena replied, looking right at Yana.
At hearing her grandmother she turned angry eyes on her grandmother. "It's been a week, my father could be dead, a usurper may be on his throne , and all you can think of is yourself?" Perhaps it was good Laena had never managed to be queen.

Yana looks right back with a small nod 'and what if a monarch did not rule for the good of a country? ...Hyperthetically speaking?'
Yana glances again at Laena, thinking her still odd but by now guessing that she must have some connection to the royal house given her reaction to reading the letter

Brandon sighed at the poor starry-eyed girl for a moment, and then said,
"Your grace, may I suggest we make for Dragonstone? If this letter speaks true, we do not know what we will find when we arrive. It may be better to arrive at Prince Aegon's stronghold and take the lay of the land first, before we fly on to King's Landing."

"We will need to stop at some point. When we do, we will be able to get a clearer picture if events closer to the capital, then we can decide whether Aegon and I go straight to kings landing, or stop at Dragonstone." Rhaena said. She just wanted to go straight to Kings Landing, but considering the potential problems, understood the need for caution.

"I think of my grandchildren!" Laena snapped. "Rhaena, if the contents of this letter are genuine - and they seem to be - we are all in great danger, yourself and your brother most of all. But go we must, that is certain."

Brandon resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the old bat.
"I don't suppose there were any visions in Old Valyria which hint at what we should do were there?" he asked skeptically.

"There were not," Laena retorted, glaring at him. "The gods work in mysterious ways. They rarely provide a straight answer."

Laena looked at the bastard girl with a scowl. "And who are you to speak to me thus, girl? That sour-faced fellow just happens to be the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and I am Laena Targaryen, Princess Dowager of Westeros." But she was readying Vermilion as she spoke, and the red dragon, looking at Yana with a bad-tempered expression, lashed his tail and snorted smoke through his nostrils.

Yana looks suitibly unimpressed at the lordly titles and foul tempered dragon and cocks an eyebrow after vaulting on to Spinel'by the judge of all your reactions .. the 'girl' that brought a sealed and signed message telling you to get your skinny arse back home right NOW' Spinel takes to the air and soon matching the pace of the others.

Brandon looked from the bastard to the Princess Dowager and back again. The idea of adding yet another sharp-tongued wench saved only by her sex to their traveling band did not fill Brandon with joy.
Aerion senses Brandon's irritation and snarled as he mounted, and they both flew westward.

(OOC: Not going to dawdle in departing, but if we can retroactively add something to the conversation, I'd appreciate it.)
Aegon comes up to the little gathering somewhat late, furrowing his brow at the expression he sees there. A brief ear to the conversation indicates that this dragon-riding girl bore a letter of some sort and that it was ill tidings. Aegon took the message after his grandmother had finished reading it and read through it quickly.

There was a pit in Aegon's stomach as he read the letter. He wished he could say he was blindsided, but in truth since his last conversation with his brother, since his grandmother's vague prophecy, he had been steeling himself for this. The only peculiarity was that the message came from his father.
"I agree, Dragonstone first," Aegon replied. He did not respond to the second half of what his betrothed said, not at first, but he did not slowly. "If what this letter implies is true, we must first see that father and mother are still safe."

Aegon nodded. It was, as usual, good advice. "If these tidings are true, speed is of the essence. We'll push our dragons hard from here to the west coast of Essos." If they took a slower pace crossing the sea itself, Aegon left unsaid that it would be because there could very well be a fight waiting for them at the other end.
