Sergio laughed quite at her words, "It is not the figs but a life time of subterfuge. What seems opaque to you I thought was quite clear. So you want Frank then." He shook his head."What I meant was do you plan on fucking me to get my support for Maekar? And if you do does he know that?"

Vira laughed out loud. "This is more to my speed. You'll have to adjust your language and speak more like this to me, Sergio. You are a sophisticated Braavosi nobleman, and I am a peasant with a dragon and a good man. This manner of speaking suits me better."
She drank some of her wine. "If your friendship, and the friendship of your family, could be bought for half an hour against my lord's wall there, I would be very dubious about the quality of that friendship. We are speaking of the Delinaals' support for Maekar - Prince Maekar - against Prince Aegon. And yours."

Sergio leaned forward and pointed a finger at her, "For all your talk of frankness and simplicity you failed to answer my question. I am not offering any support but just trying to measure your will to make him more then what he is."

"Then you're measuring it by the wrong method," she said, her gaze steady on his.

Sergio leaned back in his seat and threw his boots up onto the table. "How should I be measuring it?"

"If I had to explain that to you, that would worry me," Vira said lightly. "But we are going off on yet another tangent, as has been the pattern of this whole conversation. Are you here to merely banter with me, or do you wish to start discussing this seriously? You are a busy and important man, I know. You can't have ridden all this way just out of the mild curiosity of whether or not I'd fuck you on the slight chance that it would sway your opinion."

"I did not." Sergio replied, "But I have ridden further for a good fuck." He looked at her and added, "You want to know why I am attacking this from the flanks as opposed to the center. I need to know his commitment."

"An understandable concern," she said. "This is not something that Maekar would consider lightly, and I have every confidence that he is dedicated to his chosen path. But I must be clear - my lord will not take part in any event that would hasten the death of his beloved father the King. However, should the King die, he is fully prepared to act." She looked at Sergio consideringly. "The question of the King's death is not something I have ever, or will ever, bring up with him. But if the King should die what appears to be a natural death...then Maekar will not hestitate. Not for a second."

Sergio nodded to himself, "He had said as much I think, in that way men have of asking for things they are too afraid to say aloud." He looked at her and asked, "Are you brave enough to speak the words? To make the request?"

"I am," Vira said. "If I thought you were the man for the job. Instinct tells me you are, but I must be sure. Is this the service you offer - the natural death? And at what price?"

"Alone for that... and I am not speaking of any other service. There is a price in gold." Sergio replied. "100,000 dragons. It is non-negotiable. The man I will hire for this is worth every coin."

Vira's blue eyes grew as large as saucers. Accustomed as she had slowly become to being pampered and petted by Maekar, she still thought about money like a peasant, and a silver stag was a treasure to her. Indeed, Maekar had noted how deftly and stingily she managed the allowance the King gave her. The idea of anyone paying a hundred thousand dragons for a kill shocked Vira out of her wits.
"Are you mad?" she gasped. "A hundred thousand dragons?" She almost said, that much money doesn't even exist in the world, but stopped herself just in time. She could not afford to show her peasant roots.
But inevitably, she did. "Is this a jape?" she said suspiciously. "A hundred thousand dragons should buy a city. Is this expensive man a god in human form?"

Sergio chuckled, "Many would say yes. If not a god, then Death made flesh." He replied. "A man who could walk past a thousand guards, and all the dragons. A man who is not only willing to do all that, but make it look like a natural death. You ask the impossible, so I need a man who can do the impossible."

"Where is this man?" Vira asked, finding it hard to believe that such men existed, and for such a price. "Is he already in King's Landing?"

"He is not in King's Landing, but he is close by. I can have him there within days." Sergio replied. He studied her and smiled.

Vira thought about it, studying him closely. "And how would I - how would Maekar pay him, I mean? Trunks of gold need to be transported discreetly."

"I can take the payments in small chunks. I will send it too Braavos. There it will be deposited in the appropriate accounts." Sergio replied with a grin. "Not all at once. Too much chance of it being intercepted."

"I like that option, it certainly lessens the risk," she said. "The money will not be a problem. Lord Maekar can pay in monthly installments of, let's say, ten thousand dragons. But I don't even know who I am hiring. When can this be done? We need some time to prepare."

"The man will not start until he has received his complete payment." Sergio replied, "And I can not give you an exact time frame. It will happen when there is an opening, not before."

"What if the King should die before the man can kill him, and the payment has already been made?" Vira asked. "Like I said, the King's position is precarious."

"If the king dies before full payment is made I will give you a refund." Sergio replied, "But after that since you have asked for a special case then I won't be able to grant that."

"There is one condition that I must insist on," Vira said, accepting his reply. "The King must die before Prince Aegon and his party return to Westeros. That will be within five months. I can speed up the installments a great deal in order to ensure that it happens before Aegon returns."

"You had better. I can arrange for it to be that swift, but you had better rush the payments then." Sergio replied.

"You have my word," Vira replied. "Lord Maekar is a wealthier man than he lets people know. One moment. I shall bring him back." So saying she rose with a smile and went out. Some time passed, and Sergio could see out the window, where Aegerys and Cyrax lay chained in a garden, lazing under the sun. It was a warm day.
Presently Vira returned, with The Lord of the castle. Both if them had disheveled hair and flushed cheeks, and Vira hastily yanked her gown straight as she entered the room.
"I am sorry we took so long," she said by way of explanation. "I couldn't find him."

Sergio was at the window staring at the two dragons. He watched the way they moved, and studied them. He looked much like an owl then, staring down at two field mice. When he turned to look at them though there was only a warm smile. "That is clearly not a lie. I even heard you calling out his name over and over and over. And calling for the gods. It must have been frustrating not to find him."
