She grinned back, pleased at his greeting, as she was of the opinion that she was a good deal prettier than most. "Thank you, Ser. Since you honor me with your kind words, I think I will honor you with a dance. Two, if you're especially creative with your compliments." She winked at him teasingly. "I shall have to do my best," he said. "Let us begin with something commonplace. You are the fairest flower of the court, a jewel, my heart's delight." He grinned again. "Now, does this happy strike softness into your heart?" "Alas, do you use words or a woodaxe?" She clasped her hands over her heard as if wounded. "That is terribly heavy handed, good Ser. I expected better of you! Perhaps your words will flow sweeter the more merrier we become." She finished her wine and considered getting more.

Baelon was in a side room pacing nervously, on his second bottle of wine by the time the guests started arriving. She snuck into the room, dressed in her normal black pants, red silk blouse and Onyx choker. Arenya chuckled lightly as he paced. "You almost look as nervous as a whore in a Sept, Bae." "Relax... This is a joyous time for you." Baelon laughed, and held the bottle out to his sister. "I know that. But knowing something isn't terrifying rarely makes it any less terrifying. I've hardly seen you since we got to the city. Maegor keeping you busy?"

Arenya took a drink, paused and laughed out again. "I can't believe I just said that!" "Does she really know who you are", she chuckled. His question about their brother quieted her laugh a bit.,"I say the oath of the Kingsgyard before him soon", she shrugged,"much to his dismay." "You be there", she smiled.

"I will." He told her. "And I doubt Arwyn will do much to make me honest. But she may make me appear that way, and perception is reality, after all."

"Ahh, I see. I must have been distracted, I did not see any of you there. I hope you enjoyed the party," said Elsey, feeling a little embarrassed. "I am... well, I'm part of House Targaryen, but my mother is from Dorne." Elsey moved on quickly, not wanting to explain that awkward situation. "It is a great pleasure to meet fellow adventurers. Lysa would be welcome to come along too. I did exactly the same as her when I was younger. My parents often had to search for me high and low, eventually pulling me out of a crawl space or the branches of trees." Megga laughed. "Lysa is like that. She was always the one we had to worry about, when the enemy soldiers were close by. You're so lucky to live here in the Red Keep. Someone told me there wasn't any fighting here for years. I grew up with it. But I have never seen a city before, because we couldn't go to Oldtown." Aegon nodded, then looked at Edmyn. "A man could do no better than Lady Velaryon, Edmyn. She is one of the good ones. Lord Tyrell has unmarried sons and daughters too, though I confess I do not know them as well." "I shall make enquiries," Lord Arthur said. "An alliance with the Tyrells might serve, though I know they suffered much in this war." "Will you introduce me to Lady Velaryon?" Edmyn asked. "I'd be happy to meet her." "Alas, do you use words or a woodaxe?" She clasped her hands over her heard as if wounded. "That is terribly heavy handed, good Ser. I expected better of you! Perhaps your words will flow sweeter the more merrier we become." She finished her wine and considered getting more. "That is likely true," he said, leading her towards the table of fine wines. "Shall I pour for you, my lady? I hope you will forgive my unpolished courtesies. It seems a long time since I last saw you. I have been quite forlorn. There hasn't been anyone else to practice on, without your glorious presence in my life."

Arenya smiled,"I agree, she will make you appear very pretty and clean to the rest of the world." She winked at him while taking another drink of wine. "Instead of Targaryen bastard of a pirate", she chuckled. "I am happy for you in any rate."

Elsey couldn't bring herself to call the Red Keep safe, it would have been a lie, but Megga still seemed so innocent, and Elsey did not want to scare the girl with the truth. "What is your home like? I am afraid I'm not actually sure where your home was."

It's quite small, truly, and we need to repair the damage from the war. Everything is so grand here. We didn't get to live like ladies, not really. Because of the war," Megga explained.

"All will be repaired, in time," said Elsey kindly, though she did not truly believe what she said. "It is no bad thing to learn to be self-sufficient. What sort of things has your big sister taught you?"

"I have been right here all the time. Where would I have gone? Perhaps it is I who should who should complain of your absence." She laughed, assuring him she wasn't too bothered. "Some of the white this time, I think. Red is too heavy for a wedding." She watched her glass fill up again and she sipped at it. This second one would go more slowly, she told herself.
"So what do you do when you aren't gadding about the kings wood in pursuit of venison? Something useful I hope?"

What sort of things has your big sister taught you?" "Oh, baking and other kinds of cooking, tending fires, mending gowns and altering old ones, things like that. We all had to work together, us and the few servants we had. I'm not much of a lady," Megga confided, without shame. "Does that shock you?" "I have been right here all the time. "So what do you do when you aren't gadding about the kings wood in pursuit of venison? Something useful I hope?" Ser Jaime laughed. "Useful? Hardly! I have brothers for that, and my father rules the Crag. My role is the pursuit of pleasure, and to keep Lord Reyne company on his hunting expeditions. Both of which I excel at. I'm quite a good swordsman though and I'm not bad with the mace either. I spend time in the training yard, oh and I practice archery. I have recently got one of the fletchers to show me how to make my own arrows. Perhaps I'll show you, one day. Sometimes it's pleasant to take a bow on a hunt."

"You expect me spend my time with the least useful of all the Westerlings in hopes that I might get myself an archery lesson? I hope at least you are the handsomest," she teased, sipping her wine and watching her sister and one of the brides sisters talk.

I've never had a friend other than my sisters," Megga confided. "And I'm not as good at talking to people as the others. They all have a talent for talking to anyone but I feel all awkward. But I like you."

"You're not at all how I imagined a Targaryen would be. You're nothing like the princess, or Queen Rhaella. You're more...normal. I mean...you're like me, I think. If you don't mind me saying so?" She seemed nervous again, wondering if she should have said that.

"We are of Targaryen blood, Bae.", she grinned. "I'm sure she will already know when we meet."
"Not to worry, I am of no threat. She can have you all to herself", she laughed. Arenya looked at her brother with an endearing smile,"Now hurry up, get yourself together and go marry her before you change your mind." She kissed his cheek, then softly on his lips,"I love you, brother. Be happy."
She smiled at him again as she departed to mingle with the rest of the guests.

Baelon caught her arm as she started to walk out.
"I love you too, sister. How about one last time, before we both take vows that will keep us apart?"

I think you would look rather fetching in archery's gear, my lady. Very dangerous, and you could learn to shoot from dragonback. I'd like to see that," he said. "I meant it as a compliment," Megga confided. "Are you betrothed?"

"No. Nobody would want to marry me. I'm just some girl from a minor house who can't afford a dowry. Arwyn got our lands, of course, but we lost so much in the war she can't give money to the rest of us. I'll be lucky to find a husband at all," Megga sighed.

"Regardless of who you are, how little you may think you have, one day you may mean the world to someone. Don't lose heart."

Someone might want to marry a girl whose goodbrother is a member of the royal family," she said wistfully. "I wish I knew what love feels like."
