The old man smiled, revealing blood-red teeth stained from years of sourleaf, before spitting a gob of juices into the blood-soaked grass.
The gutted brother went for Maekar again, bringing his axe down, which the inquisitor caught in the crossguard of his blade. Though the man was wounded, Maekar only had one hand to hold the axe at blade as it slowly lowered towards his face. The other brother slashed the Lord of Darkheart Keep behind the leg, sending him to one knee. Seeing little choice, Maekar shoved his maimed arm into his assailant's wound with a sickening squish, freeing him up to face the man behind him as the injured man howled and reeled back in pain.

Inside, rather than answer Vira, the old woman closed the distance between them and buried the kitchen knife into the bastard girl, the blade sinking to the hilt just below her collarbone.

Vira cried out in pain. Involuntary as her scream was, it was certainly loud enough for Maekar to hear. Without her axe, which she had left outside beside Maekar, she knew she was largely defenseless. And the baby. Through a haze of blood, panic, and pain, Vira's thoughts focused on the baby she carried, and all thoughts of chasing Beatrix went out the window. She dashed for the door, aiming to get outside and get her axe, to fight her way out of this danger.

Maekar did his best to pull out Tweedledee's intestines, lamenting his lack of fingers, as he shoved mightily against Tweedledum's axe, trying to force the man backward and gain the space to get up off his knees. Maekar would attack the greater threat first, the man whose wounds were not quite as severe; it was only a matter of time before the man whose guts were hanging about succumbed to blood loss.
Upon hearing Vira's scream, Maekar will go on offense, trying to kill Tweedledum as fast as he can in order to go save her.

Overcome by excruciating pain, blood loss, and evisceration; the brother slumped to the ground with blood leaking from his mouth. Maekar had little time to be grateful for this as the other brother buried the head of his axe into his shoulder blade.

As Vira fled for the door, Muriel stabbed her again, this time shoving the axe into her lower back. She fell to the ground in pain and the old woman grabbed her by her hair and held the knifepoint against the base of her neck.

"Throw down yer coin and we can all be walkin away from this." Eustace offered.

Maekar ignored him and attacked again, trying to kill them both and get into the house.

Vira screamed in pain, and all thoughts of fleeing fled her mind, crowded out by hate and rage. There was no escape now, she realized, her heart breaking a little. She had no way of knowing whether Maekar was dead or alive outside, from the confused sounds of the scuffle, and wondered how she had come to be separated from Aegerys at such a crucial time. And the thought of her baby, the baby she and Maekar had made together, brought tears to her eyes. It had all been going so well, for the first time since her family and friends had been brutally murdered little over a month ago. After she tamed the Ghost and met Maekar, Vira had thought those dark days of pain and despair were behind her forever. How wrong I was.
Summoning her last bit of strength, Vira lunged for the old woman's neck with her bare hands, ignoring her terrible pain in a rush of adrenaline. If she must die here, failing both her baby and her love, she would take this old hag down with her.

As the remaining brother dislodged his axe and raised it to deliver a deathblow, Maekar reversed his grip on Vigilance and drove it blackwood, piercing clean through his heart and out his back. The man was dead before he even his the ground.

Muriel struck the lunging woman with the blunt hilt of the dagger, knocking her back down to the floor as it opened a gash upon her cheek. She then dragged her by her hair to the door and opened it to see the bloody scene outside.

As soon as Tweedledum was dead, Maekar strode over to Eustace and hacked off his head.
He turned to Muriel, watching Vira bleed to death in the ground and the bloody knife in the old woman's hand. "Let her go and there is a small chance you may live the night," he said in a dead empty voice.

The old man raised his hands in protest as his head was hewn from his shoulders.
The old woman's eye narrowed at the bloodbath, not even flinching. Forty years of war had hardened the smallfolk even more than their highborn counterparts. Most of those who had not starved or fought against the Crown had done distasteful things to survive.
"Throw over your coin and you can have her." the old woman demanded, pulling Vira up by her hair and pressing the blade against her throat enough to well blood.

"Don't," Vira choked, spitting blood. The pain from the wound in her back had started to dull, and she could no longer feel her legs. "When this is done, hack her to pieces and feed her to Aegerys."

Maekar pulled his coin pouch off his belt and thew it at the woman's feet swiftly. All it contained were about a dozen silver stags anyway, the greater bulk of their coin having been left in the dragons' saddlebags. "Fool woman. A dozen stags is worth the lives of your husband and sons? You brought this upon yourself," he said.

The woman scooped up the coins. Despite it being a paltry amount to a royal, it was likely more coin than a simple woodsman made in a year.
"Not the first sons I've lost." she replied, her hard gaze leaving little doubt that such sentimentality had a died as well a long time ago. "Be on your way then." she added, kicking the bloody and battered Vira through the threshold and slamming the door.

As soon as Vira was safe, Maekar kicked the door off its hinges with anpoweful blow from one booted foot, and then strode into the house. He moved toward Muriel swiftly and hacked at her legs with Vigilance, intending to sever both of her feet.

The old woman's scream was shrill as her legs were severed, blood spraying out form the severed stumps to mix with the stew upon the floor. She died soon after.

He manages to patch the wounds and staunch the bleeding as best he can, though she would need a maester shortly. None of the wounds appeared to have punctured any internal organs, though the health of the baby was unknown.
