"Happy is certainly one word for it," Daenya replied, handing the sign to a servant to bring to her other presents. "I am surprised you managed to find this." "It was not easy, but mementos should be cherished." he replied. "Some days are more worthy of remembrance than that of your birth." "I am sure the other me would disagree with that, at least regarding this little incident," Daenya said with a smirk. "So, what's your most important day then?"

"Lady Cuy, is it?" Aegon smiled. "I guess that makes you Lord Cuy now. Congratulations, your lordship." But Aegon seemed reticent when Dany nudged him. "That, ah. Will be announced soon enough, I imagine," he hedged.

"Come now, everyone knows that I can keep a secret. Now, we've plenty of Targaryens that would be possibilities. But maybe an alliance with one of the other great houses, to secure the peace? The Tyrells have a daughter of the right age, I think."

"Ah, I just assumed this was the next logical step for you now that the war is over," Dany said with a wave of her hand, but was fairly sure Aegon would not marry one of his sisters for the same reason she would never consider marrying her brothers. "So you do not know yet?" she inquired. "Ooh, perhaps you could annex Dorne by marrying one of the Martells. Now that would be an achievement."

"Aye, and you know what they say about those Dornish ladies. Madwomen between the sheets. Especially if you like something a little darker than our fair-haired beauties." Baelon told Aegon with a grin. "Meaning no offense to any fair-haired beauties present."

Rhaena was half surprised he had not hurt his neck with the speed of it turning, he did not need that to add to his malady list. "People need my consent to look down on me, and they certainly do not have that. But you sell yourself short, Waters may have been your name, but you are as much a Targaryen as any of us." She let go of his hand though and shook her head, "I do not wish you to be uncomfortable though," "You could not," Maekar replied, hesitating for a moment and taking her hand again and smiling reassuringly, "but you deserve far more than I could ever offer you. I do not seek to diminish you, or the Royal House, by my company. Yet I fear I have not the will to remain from your side." He looked out across the party for a moment. "This is rather dull, for a princess' name-day celebration, is it not?"

She retorted, knowing full well and accepting that want never had anything to do with it. "I fear it shall be difficult for you to stay by my side when you are far away in your own castle." Her expression fell at mention of the party, "The family can hardly afford excitement," she meant both literally and in terms of drama. She was clever like that.

"I do not think Dorne has any intent of being annexed," Aegon replied. "Maekar made sure of that when he burned them out, and I am told the Princess Martell is the type of woman who holds a grudge."

"That is a shame, but it does leave open some possibilities for my proposal." Baelon answered. "Cousin Daenerys, I find myself about to marry into a house that has been impoverished by decades of war. I could use some funds to help it improve its lot. And a vacation, to boot. You have a ship, and I hear you might be almost as good at using it as I am. What's your opinion on piracy?"

Daenerys narrowed her eyes slightly in thought while Baelon spoke, trying to figure out where exactly was House Cuy's seat. Failing to recall it, or perhaps she had never known, she raised an eyebrow. "I do have a ship. Actually more than one now. Piracy can be fishy, you are going to have to tell me more than that. What exactly are you planning?"

Aegon raised an eyebrow. "And who, exactly, are you intending to pirate?" Aegon asked his bastard uncle.

"Now Aegon, you can't be thinking that I would raid any ships subject to your father." Baelon told his nephew before answering Daenerys, clearly enjoying the prospect. "I was thinking we go East. Or off of Dorne. Take some fat merchants and live like Gods for a time. Then return, rich and happy."

"Take it to the king," Aegon replied, "Before you go off and provoke some war."

"But that is unfair. We are not a nation of thieves or Ironborn to be reaving hard-working sailors," said Daenerys doubtfully, but her eyes twinkled at the prospect of adventure. "Why not become a fat merchant yourself and use your ship for trade? That is what I am going to do with mine. Besides, I was planning a trip to east anyway with Princess Rhaena, but on dragons."

"Of course, of course." Baelon said quickly to Aegon. The boy worried too much. "What sort of profession is trade for the blood of the dragon? The Ironborn have it right, I say. We ought to take what we please. And especially if we were to target some nation that has been antagonizing us. That would be fair, would it not?"

"We shall just have to agree to disagree when it comes to the Ironborn, dear Baelon. Which nation are you speaking of?" she inquired.

"Oh, I'm not sure just yet. Someone will start trouble. And I wouldn't truly feel sorry if we went after Slaver's Bay, whether it were provoked or not."

"I would not mind it, were there actual trouble. But that does not mean we should provoke it," Dany replied, and feigned a shiver. "Ah yes, I read about the Slaver's Bay. All those poor mistreated slaves. I am rather glad this place is a world away from us."

"Well that's the beauty of ships and dragons, my dear. We can bring things a world away right to us. And ruin some slavers' ill-gotten livelihoods, besides."

"Well that is certainly true," Maekar replied, to both of her statements, because he was clever like that. "We shall manage, I am sure of it. For now, however, I think I would prefer the sky to a party." He hesitated for a moment before continuing. "You are welcome to accompany me of course, but Daenya may be offended if her sister leaves so abruptly. One of the perks of being a Waters, I suppose."

"Would that I could, but I think Daenya would think me the worst sister living if I did so," Rhaena said with a grimace. "Have fun though, I might go fly myself for a time, later on."

Despite the crowd, Elsey felt deeply alone. Aegon's coolness when they had spoken was preying upon her, eroding at her spirit. Even her attempt to find a distraction had failed. She found the talk of courtly ladies tedious, but she envied how easily the others made conversation. Catching sight of Aegon, not just talking with others, but smiling, when he would not smile for her, made her heart sink even further.
She saw Aerion, sat alone at a table, and approached, sitting beside him with a heavy sigh;
"It's all awful, isn't it?"

Rhaegar Targaryen arrived at the feast. He had been surprised to have been told that he had been invited, assuming that as per usual he was not welcome. He was, as was his custom, dressed totally in black, the dark colour of clothes contrasting sharply with the stark whiteness of his long silver blonde hair that fell past his shoulders. Now approaching his own eighteenth name-day, he remembered with a pang of grief that for his fourteenth name day his father Aenar had held a feast for him as a Prince of the realm. How far they had fallen in those three and a half years he mused.
Despite his invitation, he still couldn't help hesitating at the doors. After a short pause to collect himself and taking a large breath, he entered.

A small troupe of musicians (costs) begins playing some jovial music intended for dancing.

Rhaegar heard the music start and encouraged by some guest distraction and the movement to the dance floor, moved deeper into the hall. It was there he saw his sister - Elseyris thankfully - as he did not know he he could have borne Viseyna. It took a moment until Rhaegar recognised the man with her - their uncle Aerion, the only survivor of his father's two younger brothers. Rhaegar's lip curled slightly in faint distaste. His younger uncle had quickly sworn to Maegor, abandoning his own brother, Rhaegar's late father. He did not necessarily blame him for that, given his almost certain fate that awaited had he not done so. But as far as he knew Aerion had done little or nothing to help them since - unlike his elder brother, the late Baelor.
As he approached the two, he called out greetings to Elseyris.
