"Oh. Isn't that the Lord Commander's job?" Ser Olyvar asked. "Why has he not done it already?"

"Oh. Isn't that the Lord Commander's job?" Ser Olyvar asked. "Why has he not done it already?" "I think he may have his hands fulls with the dealings of the small council." Arenya shrugged,"there has been alot of movement since we have returned from battle. I am sure when he has a moment, we will take care of it." She thought for a second, her impatience was at this moment getting the best of her,"Or..... You could do it in his stead." "If it does not seem that I am asking too much of you, Ser Olyvar?" Arenya stared at him questionably.

"I could, I suppose. Is a woman knight a 'ser' too?" He gave her a strange look. "But there is one thing I do not understand. Did the king not already appoint you to the post, as is common? Or did he give the Lord Commander leave to pick the newest member of the Kingsguard?"

Or did he give the Lord Commander leave to pick the newest member of the Kingsguard?" "If it makes you uneasy to address the King, then I will have no choice but to wait for the Lord Commander." She smiled at him again, thinking on his questions,"I have no idea, Ser Olvyar", she chuckled. "We shall see soon enough won't we?"
"There was an open position. I was not chosen.. I volunteered to be a Kingsguard much to the dismay of my brother."

OOC = mind if I delete your post above the last one as it doesn't quite fit? Maybe cos I had to edit my post.
Ser Olyvar looked confused. "You...volunteered? But, my lady, the king has to appoint you! Why did he appoint you if he did not wish you to serve with the White Swords?"

(OOC= go ahead ) "Let's just say it was a sibling thing",she shrugged. "He wanted to make sure I was worthy first, then he wanted me to fail.." Her eyes looked at him with a sad smile,"But I suceeded on all accounts even with the challenges from the Lord Commander." "The Lord Commander knighted me and now it is my brother's turn..." "If he chooses to."

He seemed more confused than ever.
"But, my lady, I thought you meant that you had already been chosen. But it sounds to me like you have neither been chosen, nor formally invested into the Kingsguard. I thought you meant that you needed only to be presented to the court. But...if the King has not already offered you the role...that is a different matter. You shouldn't be here, my lady."
He frowned, crossed his arms across his chest. His expression was not the open dislike she had seen in Ser Jon, but he was definitely not as friendly as he had been a moment ago.
"I mean you no offence, my lady, but no knight of the Kingsguard has ever been tested in the way you were tested. We are a sacred order of knighthood. It is the King's right to choose the brothers. But you said he wished you to fail the test. If he wanted you on the Kingsguard he need only appoint you and not bother with that test."

"Princess, Ser Olvar",Arenya looked at him, honesty seemed not the best policy here but no matter. "and yes, I know the workings of becoming a Kingsguard."
"This is the plan of my brother to ostracize me from you even if he does allow me to the position. This is his game I am only participating as I know how." She stepped back from him,"But if you wish me to leave then so be it."
"And would you do me the favor of telling the Lord Commander that I was here to see him." She nodded a thanks to him and continued on her way.

Ser Olyvar frowned and sat down. He seemed much troubled. For now though, he was off duty and he had a book to read.

Brandon stepped into the White Sword tower behind Arenya, and cleared his throat.
"His grace left it up to my judgment, and I tested the good ser," making clear he meant Arenya, "and found the performance acceptable," he said, "So we are going to present the King with my findings. It is possible he may yet refuse," He said pointedly to the Princess, "But we shall see."

Ser Olyvar was the only man present. He looked worriedly at the Lord Commander. "My lord, is this proper? I mean...a woman, in the Kingsguard! It goes against all the customs of the realm. The princess the King doesn't even want her in the Kingsguard, not truly. And you know Ser Jon will protest, my lord."

"She is a woman no longer, ser," Brandon replied, "All that has been put aside to serve the King. Assuming His grace approves, that is the end of the matter. If Ser Jon feels otherwise, he will have words with me."

Arenya paused as she heard the Lord Commander speak. She turned, but didn't show her surprise at his words.
She knew the King was the last to say. Arenya looked at Ser Olyvar and then back to Brandon as he spoke of Ser Jon's possible disapproval.
"Then shall we see the King, Lord Commander? I would like to have my answer be it good or bad."

"We may as well get it over with," He agreed, turning on his heels and departing the Tower, not waiting to see if Arenya kept up.
