Ser Darien gasped. "Oh! You're the Lord Commander. My lord has spoken of you sometimes. Honoured, my lord." He made a low bow. "You are most kind to assist me. Let's go to the sept. I don't know the septon very well, though. Only met him once."
/////////
The sept was a small wooden building lit with candles from the visitors. It had the Seven gods drawn on the walls in charcoal. An old septon was busy at prayer under the altar of the Smith.

Brandon entered the sept, and seeing the man in prayer waited until he was done. If he seemed to be taking an inordinate amount of time, Brandon cleared his throat slightly.
"Excuse me, Septon, but we have a most urgent matter we need your help with."

The old man looked up at him. "All of the gods' work is urgent, my son. Every man will tell you the same. But speak, if you will. I am ready to listen."
He climbed to his feet.

"Lady Massey's daughter is taken, abducted by Poor Fellows," he said calmly. "We had hoped you might know of men in the area who were of that persuasion." Brandon said, "If you can point us in the right direction and the girl is found, it will be the end of it, and no more inquires will be made."

The septon trembled. "My lords, I am just a simple septon. The Poor Fellows are...naught to me. We are loyal to the crown here, though I know old Meg at the tavern gives them ale sometimes. I heard the next village shelters them sometimes. Mayhaps they'd know."

"No one questions your loyalty Septon," Brandon said. "But the next town over has no sept. Do you tell me that these religious zealots never go to sept? That seems unlikely. Anything you might recall could save a girl's life."

"What girl?" He asked.
"Lady Massey's daughter," Ser Darien remarked.
"Ah. Lady Massey wed the dragon bastard, I seem to recall. Of course the Poor Fellows come to sept, and it's my duty to see that they get what they need when they come. I neither condone nor condemn what they do. We each have our own ways to worship the gods."
The septon sighed. "There's lodgings for Poor Fellows near Duskendale, I hear. But you sure, ser? They say there's outlaws in the kingswood." He peered at Brandon. "Why couldn't it be outlaw? Kingswood is closer to Massey's Hook. And you look strong enough to deal with such."

"If there are outlaws in Kingswood they'll be dealt with," Snow replied, "But these men sent back Massey's dead guard with a seven pointed star on him. Odd move for Outlaws. Few men I know would PRETEND to be Poor Fellows just to invoke the wrath of the Dragons. Where is this lodging found, can you direct us?"

"I can, m'lord. It's not so far away. Like I said, it's near Duskendale. A secret place, you see. Went there once, had to give the final blessing to one of the men who was too sick to move."

Brandon waited while the Septon explained the location. (OOC: If I think I can get there no problem, then I'll continue, if not I will make the Septon come too.)
"Ser Darien, ride back to your Lady, collect some men, level-headed types. Good fighters, but not fool-hardy, and then meet me there."
"Septon, We thank you."
Brandon returned to where he head left Aerion, and saddling the Winter's Storm, took the sky, headed for the location described to him.

OOC - he said it's a secret place so you'd need the guide. They're not using an obvious place, what with the Faith Militant being stamped out across the majority of the realm now.

OOC: Okay, I thought maybe he could say "turn left at the hollowed out tree, and look for the rock that looks like a skull, or whatever."
IC: When the Septon and Brandon reached Aerion, he smiled, "This will be a new experience for you, I think," he told the Godsman.

OOC - ok, don't forget if you want Ser Darien's men to catch up you'll need to provide a signal somehow.
The septon looked up at him in surprise and then fear. "You can't mean..." He looked at Brandon in confusion. "My lord, who are you? A dragon for sure, but which one?"

OOC: What's the terrain like? If Aerion is flying over the spot, will they not see him and go to the area he's at?
"Brandon Snow of the Kingsguard," he replied. "Now climb aboard, Aerion prefers sheep to septon, you'll be fine."

OOC - yeah, that works well! It won't be entirely open country but Aerion would be easy to see. Didn't want to make assumptions on your behalf though.
Dragon taming roll=success
Fortunately for Brandon and the septon, the dragon doesn't balk at the extra passenger. The septon climbs on very gingerly and holds on to the saddle with wide eyes.
"Like riding a very big horse with wings, I suppose," he murmured. "Mother protect me."

Brandon guided the dragon in the direction indicated by the septon. He flew high and stuck to clouds for the present. He would duck down low when they got closer. "How many men do they have?" He asked the septon.

"Don't know for sure, between a dozen and a score, most like. I never counted though. But I'm sure you know about the Poor Fellows, anyway. It's not safe for them to have larger groups."

Between 12 and twenty men was still more than Brandon was comfortable facing by himself. Of course Aerion was here, and could reduce all of them to ash, but that was not possible as long as they held the girl.
When they got close, he brought Aerion down in a shaded spot far enough away that he didn't have to worry about being seen and dismounted.

The septon was green as they dismounted. "I need a moment," he said.
He rushed into a clump of bushes where he could be heard vomiting. He returned shortly afterwards. "My lord, you'll have to pretend to be a friend of the Faith Militant else we're both dead men."

The septon indicated the armour beneath Brandon's cloak. "Not many men dress like that. Especially not men who seek out the Poor Fellows. And the Poor Fellows don't like visitors unless they are friends."

"I'm not here to be their friends." Brandon replied. "This secret place, how many entrances does it have?"

"I only saw one, but there's no doubt more than that. For safety."
He led Brandon forward towards the small village where the first thing they came to was an old, dried up well.
"Down there," he instructed. "There's handholds graven into the stone." He waited to be sure they were not observed then hopped over the rim and began to descend the dark passage.

Motivated Septon, Brandon said, shaking his head. "Aerion, go up, and watch for who comes," he told the beast, sending the creature up into the area to mark the spot for Massey's men who hopefully would be arriving soon.
OOC: Espionage Noteworthy
Brandon descended the well with as much stealth as he could muster.

OOC - success
Brandon remains undetected as he climbs down into the darkness. It's pitch black beneath the well and the septon accidentally stands on Brandon's toe.
"Sorry. Can't see. You have to find a ring and pull it. On the other side of the wall to the handholds."
