"That would be most suitable. I could offer such a man a place in my own household," Arwyn mused. "And what of you? Tell me about your own family, if it's not too bold of me to ask."

"Well, my mother is a Celtigar of Claw Isle, sister to its current lord. I was the result of one of my father's visits while he was Prince of Dragonstone. She never married, being content to be one of his several mistresses. As to my father's family, I am the youngest of his children. I did not spend much time on Dragonstone or at court, but I have always been close with my sisters, the Queen and Princess Arenya. Not so much with my brothers, though my fellow bastards are usually decent company."

"I would like to meet them all. Her Grace was kind to me. Proud, of course, and most regal, but I always thought that's how a queen should be. I would love to see Kings Landing some day."
She smiled and offered him more wine.
"I've always wished to have brothers. I wonder..." She blushed. "Do you think I would get along with your kin?"

Baelon held his cup out for the wine. "Well I don't see why not. Most of them, anyway. A few...Aerion, for example, the raving madman who was here, aren't much worth getting to know."

She filled his cup. "Oh. I heard him yelling, I think." Her laughter was low and pleasant. "He seemed very angry at the thought of making a political match. You are not so opposed, I think?"

"A political match is better than most bastards could hope for. But I'd rather my marriage be about more than politics. Life's easier when you share your bed with someone you can get along with."

"I'm sure it it," Arwyn agreed. "My mother told me that I would have to marry the man of my father's choosing and that I would learn to love him if I was a good and dutiful wife, even if I didn't like him much to begin with. It was a hard thing for a ten year old to hear. I worried that I'd have to marry someone I didn't like. But now I don't fear that any more." She smiled at him before taking a sip of wine.

"Well, it is our first meeting and I'm on my best behavior. Your opinion may change."

This time her laughter was slightly nervous but she handled the comment with good grace. "Why is that? Are you planning to do something I would not like?"

Baelon chuckled at her anxiousness. "I jest, I jest. I only mean that it takes more than one meeting to really get to know a person."

"Oh. Yes, that's true. I see nothing objectional though," she remarked. Then the smile flashed across her face. "I've met worse men, certainly. And some of them were not at all courteous."

"Well, I've not had much wine thus far. I hear that I can become quite the boor after a bottle or three. But I never seem to remember it well enough to judge for myself."

"Oh. Well, my father and his men would sometimes drink more than they ought and say things they might not mean when they are sober. I won't hold it against you," she vowed. "It is just one of those things that men do."
She spoke as if getting drunk were of no matter.
"Just don't drink so much you fall off your dragon."

Baelon nearly spit out a mouthful of wine when she said that. "That's only happened a few times, and not for several years. Seaskimmer got quite good at picking me up out of the water, though."

Arwyn giggled. "Truly? That's very clever. I had no idea dragons were quite so intelligent. Oh, I do hope he will like me."

Tanis was seen coming over the horizon returning back with Valarr with news for the Queen.

The little group is taken to Rhaella in the great hall. Valarr whispered to Arenya. "I'll tell her about Aemy later. Best make your report first."
Rhaella came forward, extending her arms to them both. "Brother, sister, welcome. I am surprised to see you here, Valarr."
"I had not thought to be here," he said. "I'll speak to you in a moment. Arenya had best make her report first."

"Alright", she agreed. "Best to give her the good before the bad."
She smiled lightly at Rhaella,"You are welcome sister. I spoke with the Prince and he has sent Valarr to pick up the dragonfire and deliver it."
She grabbed a goblet of wine, speaking almost at a mumble as she took a sip,"And he has more to discuss with you in private."

"Of course. I would be happy to hear our brother's counsel," Rhaella answered. "How shall you deliver the wildfire?"
"By cart," said Valarr. "Rhaegar and I shall ride escort on the way to Oldtown."
Rhaella nodded and led him away to talk in private after advising Arenya that she must ask Lady Cuy if she required anything.

It was more than an hour before Rhaella and Valarr rejoined their companions. The bastard was grim, Rhaella grief-stricken and determined. She looked at Baelon, Aerion and Orys and lastly at Arenya, who already knew.
"My daughter Aemy is dead. She was a traitor to the crown. That meant she had to die, but she was my daughter and I will mourn her. Let it be known that all who dare oppose the crown will pay with their lives. So too will the Faith Militant. They are the root of it, the rot that infects our kingdom. They will die so that we may live."

Arenya could not muster a smile, she knew her sister's pain would be followed by her wrath on the Faith Militants in battle.
She dropped her head in respect to her sister and remained silent.

Orys kept his face blank, but couldn't help but think on how ironic that was. People always claim that bastard blood is treacherous, but how little they say about the trueborn who betray their family. It mattered little to him: he'd not make the same mistake.

Baelon was visibly surprised at the news. He'd never known Aemy very well, but she had not seemed like much of a traitor to him. "By whose hand did she die?" He asked.

Rhaegar Targaryen remained silent throughout the exchange, looking from one cousin to the other as they spoke. He waited to be spoken to, or for orders from Valarr.

"Ser maekar did the deed on the king's orders," Valarr explained to Baelon. "Unfortunate, but I do not believe our royal brother would issue that particular order without good cause."
Rhaella gave the tiniest nod of acknowledgement. "He would not. The king is harsh, and often expects more of our children than they can give, but he's not Maegor the Cruel. I do not doubt his judgement in this matter. Brother, do you need to rest or will you go?"
"We'll go. We can take turns resting on the journey back. I've ordered the carts to be prepared." He turned to their young cousin. "Rhaegar, go out and make sure the men are loading the wildfire into the carts. Once each cart is ready they are to begin on their way to Oldtown. I'll lead the way on Ithilgore. You'll fly rearguard and make sure none gets lost."

Rhaegar nodded in affirmation. Without a word, he quickly moved out to where he had been told the carts were being loaded. After consulting with the foreman in charge of the loading, Rhaegar stood by observing the activity. He was very careful not to allow Vermax too near the carts as one misdirected burst of flame would see the lot materialise into a huge fireball, consuming himself along with the men-at-arms doing the loading.
Once it appeared all the carts were loaded and that Vermax continued to be a safe distance away, both from where the carts had been loaded and their route out of Oldtown, he gave his dragon a firm order to stay where he was until he returned and he reported back to Valaar. As a further precaution and also a way of explaining what he wanted his dragon to do, he tethered him to a firm post.
"It is done my lord." he said to Valarr. "The carts are beginning to move out."
