Elsey had spent the time after leaving Maegor's chambers lying on her bed, frustrated, angry, and despairing thoughts swimming in her head, unable to find any solace. When she heard the knock, she slowly rose, and padded to the barred door;
"Who is it?" she called softly, her voice still shaky from having to suppress her emotions.

"It's Visenya," she answered. She could hear the sadness in Elsey's voice. "Are you alright? Let me in, please."

Elsey unbarred the door and opened it just enough for Visenya to slip through, closing it behind her. Elsey's eyes were glassy and a little red-rimmed, her shoulders slack.
"Do you mind if we go through to my bedroom? I am not feeling well."
Elsey gestured to her bedroom door, already starting to move towards it.

"Not at all." Visenya followed her closely, worry plain on her face.
"So what's bothering you, sister?" She asked with concern once they were in the bedroom with the door closed behind them. "Did something happen?"

Elsey flopped wearily onto her bed, putting her back against the headboard, drawing her knees up and pulling the blanket over them.
"I petitioned the King for permission to tame a new dragon. He not only refused, but said such horrible things about me and 'our line'. I could barely contain my rage. He said he preferred my wings clipped."
Elsey felt the anger rising again, but took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
"I cannot let him break me with his cruelty, but truly, Visenya..."
She trailed off, clenching her fists, the latter half of the sentence implicit in her expression.

Visenya sat on the edge of the bed, giving her sister the comfort of nearness without intruding on her space so much. "I can't believe..." She began, but she could believe it. Maegor was a cruel monarch and a crueler uncle. "He shouldn't do that. You served loyally, you lost Nenyan serving him. The least he could do is let you fly again! I'm so sorry, Elsey. I know there's nothing I can do to change his mind. All we can hope is that our next King will be kinder."
"If it is any comfort, I brought you something." She held out the small parcel, which was wrapped in a clean handkerchief. Elsey took it and opened it, revealing a tiny charm fashioned to look like her lost dragon, smaller than a thumb, but carved into a semiprecious stone with every scale defined. It sparkled a little in the low light. "I thought you might wear it alongside his tooth as another memento. He will be your dragon until you are given leave to seek another."

Elsey looked at the little charm, moved by her sister's thoughtful gift. When she looked back to Visenya, there were tears in her eyes.
"Thank you. Thank you so much," she said, a smile spreading on her face. "I shall wear it as you say. What a beautiful gift, I will treasure it always. Thank you so much. He's... beautiful. I am sorry, I am lost for words now."
She unclasped the silver chain from her neck and slid the charm onto it. When she re-fastened the chain, she then held up the little dragon and the tooth, admiring how they looked together.
"You are so good to me. I am embarrassed that I have nothing to offer in return for this kindness."

"It is no problem. To be honest, I feel very guilty every time I go to visit Silverwing. I know Rhaegar can't even bring himself to petition the King. It takes a great deal of courage." She took her sisters hand and squeezed it tightly. "Be always as you are, Elseyris, and that is thanks enough for me."

"Don't feel guilty, we chose freely to go to war, it was a risk we knew. I don't think we were quite prepared for it's likelihood, but we knew. As for staying as I am, well, I'm not entirely sure what that means right now. Going to war has changed me, I know it in my heart. Losing Nenyan was to lose a part of myself. And coming back... well... I am sinking beneath the torrent of cruelty & injustice that the King pours upon me and those I care about."
Elsey held her sister's hands tightly, looking at them sadly;
"Truly, Visenya, were it not for you, Mother, and Rhaegar..."
She took a deep, but shaky breath;
"... I have found myself thinking that it might be better if I did not live to see what Maegor's next cruel trick might be."

Visenya frowned. "Elsey, there is so much more to wait for and to hope for than just whatever cruel japes the King sets by. And I am sure there are more people in this world who matter to you than just our family." She let go of one of her sisters hands and stroked her hair comfortingly. "I'll be here for you, until you stop needing me." She cracked a grin. "And something tells me you always will."

"Other people do matter to me, it's true, but everything is so uncertain."
Elsey looked a little abashed as Visenya stroked her hair.
"I probably will. You are one of the people keeping me here and sane."
Elsey realized she was being impolite;
"I'm sorry, I didn't ask how you are, sister. Are you well enough?"

"Well enough is certainly the right phrase. Disappointed in love and everything else, but it isn't as if I thought the King would be pleased with my choice of husband anyway, even if he had wanted me." Visenya's free hand tightened into a fist in the bedclothes.

"What do you mean? What happened?"

She didn't want to talk about this, not with her sister. No, not her, who had been chosen above her.
"I think you know," she said softly, letting go her sister and wrapping her arms around herself."it is of no matter. You have enough worries."

Elseyris was quite confused for a few moments, then something terrible fell into place in her mind.
The only man I've known her to be interested in is Aegon, but surely one of them would have mentioned an involvement...
Against her better judgement, she asked;
"Has Aegon said something to you?"

"Several things, none of them what I wanted to hear from him." She got up. "I should go, I think. I love you, sister, but I am a very jealous woman."

"Visenya, don't go, I didn't mean to upset you. I love you too."

"I can't help being upset." She wanted to remind her sister of how she had warned her to stay away, of how she had seen him first, of how she was the eldest and she deserved him....but she could not. "No, I'll go. We can talk of other things, but later." She didn't trust herself to sit and to speak calmly, not so soon.

"Alright..." she said, weakly, her expression confused and worried. She could hardly make Visenya stay, or talk. She wrapped her arms around her knees and looked blankly at the opposite wall.

Elseyris had stayed mostly in her bedchamber since being injured, told by the maester to rest her wounded ankle. When Trajan admitted Lord Delinaal, lurking ominously in the doorway, Elsey looked up from her book of common prayer, with a tight smile. Shesat herself up straighter in the bed, and gestured for Sergio to sit on the edge near her.
"My Lord, welcome. I trust you are well? Please forgive me for not getting up to greet you properly, I'm a little unsteady on my feet at the moment."

Sergio smiled, and walked up to her. He held a large volume out to her, "I had heard you were bedridden. That is a volume I had ordered for you. It is a book of poems of Lario Reastical. One of Braavos most legendary writers. Study his words closely, and you will be rewarded with a window to freedom."

Elsey put aside the prayer book, and took the one Sergio offered gently with both hands, sitting it in her lap and stroking it's cover in touched surprise. She smiled more broadly when she looked back up to him;
"Thank you so much! That is so very thoughtful of you! I look forward to reading it, I love poetry very much! I have even penned the odd verse myself, from time to time. I am sure Lario Reastical shall put my scribbling quite to shame though!"
She let out a shy, yet cheerful laugh.
"You are very kind, My Lord. Thank you. Would you stay and talk a while? I have not had much company of late."

Sergio looked toward the door like he had been about to leave, but then he smiled at her and nodded, "I have a free moment or two." He perched on the side of her bed and leaned in towards her, "I heard that you were resting, but no one was bold enough to tell me what had happened? If it is not too embarrassing."

"A free moment will suffice, I would not wish to keep you long, I'm sure you are busy. It is nice to have some different company for a time, it has been only myself and Trajan most of the time."
She glanced briefly at Trajan with an apparently breezy smile, but that did not reach her eyes.
"I injured my ankle adventuring in the woods. I didn't look where I was going properly. I will be alright in a few weeks. I received worse in the war."
