"I'm thankful for that at least," Laena answered. "Keep still. This wound will need stitching, when Moore returns with my things. Webber, light a fire if you please."
Ser Olyvar immediately set to lighting a fire in the hearth. Laena met Rhaena gaze and whispered with a rare gleam of humour "No sense in giving the poor man a fright, is there? I daresay he has had a few already. Laena removed Rhaena's armour on her wounded leg to better see the injury, and to have better access while stitching. "The traitorspawn was a danger as long as she lived."

Malcolm arrives at the Windwyrm tower, whistling a jaunty tune with a smile. He waits to be called in.

He's met by Ser Derryk Moore carrying Laena's box of healer's kit. "We're to go in, my lord," he explained, white-faced, and opened the door for Malcolm to precede him.

Malcolm nodded, keeping his blades in their hip-sheaths under his cloak, close at hand. "Act brave even if you feel weak, or the wolves will dine." Malcolm entered through the door, all smiles and cheer.

Baelon arrived at the tower, presumably with Arenya.
"What in the seven fucking hells..." Is all that he managed to get out of his mouth.

Rhaena didn't say anything as Baelon and Malcolm entered. She had actually forgotten Malcolm existed, she was busy letting Princess Laena tend to her room, waiting for the healing supplies to be given to the elderly royal so her leg could be stitched.
After a long pause she decided to stage the obvious and looked to Aegon's severed head next to her.
"Aegon is dead."

"Give me a moment to practice my look of surprise if you're expecting one." Malcolm smiled at her, and then at the head next to her.

Laena took her box from Moore, opened it and withdrew a needle, which she heated in the flame, then waited for it to cool. Meanwhile, she sorted through her box to find the rest of the items she needed.
Ser Olyvar Webber, conscious of his duty cried "Long live Queen Rhaena" and was the first to kneel to her.

Baelon, though he may have loved Aegon, was conscious of his duty. He took a knee, and managed to say, "Long live the Queen."

Malcolm, with a swiftness trained over the years by strenuous practice, drew both of his blades and then lunged for Rhaena, intent to catch her off guard and end the witch's reign before it began.

Rhaena had been keeping her eyes on the room, thinking at least one person might take the death of Aegon harder than they should.
She pushed her grandmother out of the way as he approached, drew her own sword and tried to roll out of the way before he got to her.
"Kill him." She commanded the two kingsguard in the room, and baelon,

Ser Olyvar Webber and Ser Derryk Moore drew their swords and ranged themselves against Malcolm. Laena, of course, stepped back, well aware she was no combatant.

Baelon stood and drew his sword, but did not immediately jump into combat. Better to let the Kingsguard be the main targets.

Round 1
Unfortunately for Malcolm, the desk was between him and Rhaena, which meant she had time to get herself into a safer position (for now) before he had a chance to reach her. The knights of the Kingsguard (or Queensguard) were much closer. Webber and Moore stood directly in Malcolm's path. But the prince was quicker, and managed to stab Ser Derryk Moore in the weak spot of his plate's elbow joint. Blood welled up and dripped down the young knight's arm as he winced. Ser Derryk and Ser Olyvar readied themselves for the next pass, their eyes alight with bloodlust.

Round 2
The room was deathly silent aside from the clash of steel on steel. Laena, no combatant, had nevertheless taken out a slim knife from her box and had backed herself into a corner, should she need to strike. Blood from Rhaena's wound was smeared across the desk. And then, amid the clash of blades, those present could hear the sound of a dragon's roar in the courtyard.
Knowing Ser Derryk is already wounded, and considering him the weaker opponent, Malcolm attempts to stab the knight in the armpit, seeking the weakness where the pieces of his plate join. But Malcolm is hard pressed against 2 fully armoured knights of the Kingsguard, both of them wielding longswords, and he cannot use his natural stealth to its best advantage in melee combat. The knights, however, are able to use their swords to good advantage against Malcolm. Ser Olyvar cuts deep into Malcolm's side, and Ser Derryk narrowly misses stabbing him in the left shoulder.
(Heavy wound to Malcolm)

The fight clearly going against Malcolm, Baelon moved in to attack his...uncle? Cousin? He couldn't recall their exact relation. But best not to look like a coward in front of one's presumptive Queen.

Round 3
The group closes in on Malcolm. Outnumbered four to one, he has little chance to do well against his opponents. Though all strike faster than Malcolm, it falls to Ser Derryk Moore to redeem himself by striking Malcolm in the side. Blood streams from the wound.

Round 4
Outnumbered, weak and bleeding badly, Malcolm has no chance against Rhaena and her allies. As they close in once again, all strike at him. He sees blades flashing brightly above him and then pain as their blades sink in. The mortal blow, however, is struck by Ser Olyvar Webber, who says clearly "Long live the Queen" as Malcolm slips to the floor. The knight is He is echoed by Princess Laena, whose eyes gleam with triumph as she stands in the corner, and says "All hail Rhaena Targaryen, First of her Name."

Rhaena watched at the man slid to the floor, a nasty expression on her features, for at least a while now, Rhaena would not know peace from traitors, people loyal to Aegon, people loyal to Maekar. She regretted that her reign would begin with red foot prints as she had to walk over bloodied bodies of those who opposed her, but with every one, it got her closer to the end, whatever end it was.
Rhaena briefly acknowledged the hails, with nods and moved to the window, thinking she had heard a dragon, just in time to see Aerion fly upwards. She sighed, knowing that meant things had deteriorated down in the courtyard, and as Trajan was not here, he was likely there, about to fight.
"Baelon, the plan is still the same, I need you to go to the west, and you need to go now. I want you to come with us to the courtyard, get on your dragon, an fly out of here to driftmark before anything an happen to you."
She then turned to Laena, steel in her eyes, "Grandmother, You have been a dragon rider the Longest, will you help me defend my brother? Will you help me stop your grandson dying?"

Baelon wiped Malcolm's blood off his sword quickly, but did not sheath it. "As you say, Your Grace," He told his queen, "Is there anything you would have me pass on to Lady Velaryon?"

Laena had no particular relationship with Trajan. They weren't close as she and Maekar had been. But she knew he was important to Rhaena, who she certainly did care about. "Who is threatening Trajan?" She asked. She hadn't seen Aerion flying past.

"I can only assume The Lord Commander is refusing his summons" rhaena said to Laena, "unless someone else now flies his dragon. Regardless, I need to see what is going on down there."
She turned to Baelon and shook her head, "Just tell her to hurry."
Finally she turned round to the Kingsguard, "If Brandon Snow is attacking Trajan Waters, he has gone directly against the orders of his queen. You know what that makes him?"

"That bastard,! Laena muttered, with venom in her voice. "Of course I will help you. I never liked Snow."
Webber and Moore looked at Rhaena, both subdued by the terrible things that had just happened. "A traitor, aye<" Webber replied. Moore looked uncertain, but Webber glared at him and he held his tongue.
