Aegon knew he was a better warrior than his sister, but with an arrow in his chest every breath of air felt as though it was fire instead. Those arrows would do all the work required if he could not end this fight swiftly. Focused as he was on Rhaena's blade, he spoke only three short words to the Kingsguard, a reminder of his oath: "Defend. Your. King." The arrows protruding from his body and the quiver on Rhaena's back would have to do the more eloquent persuading.
Aegon attacked Rhaena.

Round 4
Ser Olyvar glanced from Queen to King as they spoke. He seemed shocked by their situation. He darted forward, but the two comabatants didn't immediately pay him heed as they traded blows. Again, neither could score a hit on the other. At first it seemed that Rhaena would have the advantage, but she couldn't quite manage to slip past Aegon's axe, and she was now vulnerable with Ser Olyvar as a possible danger. concentrating on Aegon, Rhaena inadvertently lost sight of the white knight, who grabbed her arm and tried to pull her away, but she slipped free and the fight continued. And then the door opened and two more guards rushed in, one of them swearing. Both readied their spears.
(No wounds)

Aegon's breath was labored now, but he could not stop attacking. He had given her a chance at trust before and she had used it to stab his back, and he could not relent until her blade was on the ground. Instead he raised his voice and shouted again for guards.

Rhaena saw the two guards come in, but kept her focus on her brother, still trying to focus on just killing him. She was gutted that she had not managed to land a hit on him since her arrows, and imagined fairly soon that might become an actual reality.

Round 5
Even in the midst of battle, with his King and Queen engaged in combat, Ser Olyvar kept his head. He called to the two guards "Seize the Queen!" The two guards immediately rushed to do his bidding, while Ser Olyvar renewed his own efforts to grab Rhaena. Despite being outnumbered, Rhaena is fast. Adrenaline pushes her forward as she strikes at Aegon, aiming for his throat. But one of the guards attempts to catch her arm as she does so and her strike goes wide, catching Aegon's face, though the guard fails to get a hold on Rhaena. Blood wells as she slices across the cheekbone. The second guard, is particularly unlucky as Aegon's axe, pushed aside, inadvertently catches him in the thigh while Rhaena strikes her blow. The guard falls back, cursing, stumbles, and falls to the ground. Meanwhile, Ser Olyvar likewise fails to grab Rhaena.
(Aegon takes a small wound)
Guard 2 is now out of the fight. Post actions please.

Rhaena must have been dodging them by instinct alone, because she was focused on Aegon, trying attacking him with as much force as her admittedly, fairly meek body, could muster, and kept trying to attack Aegon's throat.

Aegon could recognize that he was weakening, that no matter how he fought against it the blood loss was causing him to make mistakes, even striking his own man. He could not do this alone. And his Kingsguard refused to use his sword. Had the man turned traitor too? Had Rhaena gotten to him somehow? Perhaps actually seeing Rhaena wound him could cause a difference. "Webber," Aegon rasped, his lungs on fire, "Use your sword."
Aegon himself feinted high and then attacked low with a cut at Rhaena's leg. If he managed to score a blow, he would use the opportunity to step away from the fight and into the hall if possible.

Round 6
Aegon and Rhaena are intent on one another, though Ser Olyvar and the remaining guard are finally stunned into action by the sight of Rhaena actually drawing the King's blood, and by Aaegon's command to attack. Ser Olyvar raises his sword and charges with a yell, and the guard grabs his spear and tries to knock Rhaena over the head with it. But though she is outnumbered, Rhaena remains unwounded and is relatively fresh in comparison to Aegon. She evades both Webber's sword and the guard's spear as she drives Aegon back towards the wall. The King's Valyrian axe cannot live up to its reputation when Aegon is bleeding badly, and struggling even to stay upright, let alone defend himself from his sister's sword. Blood seeps into his clothing, distracting him, and Rhaena's sword sinks deep into his axe arm, which now falters. The two are close now. Ser Olyvar tries desperately to close in, but cannot do so without possibly harming Aegon still further. The hapless guard is caught by Rhaena's back swing, which catches the meat of his upper arm, causing him to drop his spear, and then trip over it. He falls down, bleeding and cursing.
Meanwhile, the open door and shouts of fury and pain bring two fresh guards running. They shout at the trio in horror, readying their spears as they rush forward.

Too much blood. Far too much blood. Aegon had never been this wounded, not even when he had nearly died in Lannisport or had been poisoned in Volantis. And yet he raised his axe yet again, summoning the last reserves of his strength as he swung at Rhaena. He had given her his trust, her and Aemy and Maekar, and this was to be his reward. Even Elsey, poor sweet Elsey who he had never stopped loving, had betrayed him before the end. Aegon had believed in a world where honor and justice and love could reign, but now there was only bitterness in his heart. And so he began what he intended to be his final prayer. His lips moved but the words were mostly inaudible over the clash of steel and moans of the wounded guards. "Stranger Above, let my death be an offering. When you take me to your deepest hell, let me see the faces of my family."

"No one is listening you stupid bastard!" she snarled at him, keeping her focus on her brother, and keeping the attack going "The King has gone mad! He is trying to kill his own child! Stand down!" Rhaena demanded, but kept her eyes on Aegon, trying, as ever to try and stick her sword through his throat. She was surprised she had lasted this long already and now even more guards to try and kill or apprehend her too, she didn't know Dragonstone had so many men randomly walking around.

Round 7
The habit of obedience is indoctrinated deep into the Dragonstone guards, both of whom remembered Rhaena as a girl. Her shout makes them them hesitate before they strike, particular as one of them was himself a father and could not bear the thought of a father trying to slay his own child. Their hesitation grants Rhaena the freedom to thrust at Aegon's throat, but the necessity to dodge away from Ser Olyvar means that she instead slashes a deep cut from his shoulder to his waist. His clothing rips and blood streams down Aegon's chest. A glint of bone is visible.
(Heavy hit to Aegon)

Penance felt so very heavy. That did not make sense, Valyrian Steel was supposed to be light. And yet Aegon raised and swung it again, his mantra giving him a fatalistic strength. "Stranger above!" Aegon snarled, the words coming out as a red spray. The rest could not be understood, but Aegon mouthed the words around a gargle of his own blood, bleeding from a half dozen wounds. "Let my death be an offering! Bring death and ruin to the house of my birth!"

"No one is listening!" Rhaena yelled now, more than angry at his refusal to just die. She snarled herself, as blood from both his wound and his mouth painted her green scale armour red. She dislodged her sword, swung around in a circle and tried to sever Aegon's head from his shoulders, swinging her sword round as hard as she could to try and do the damage.

Round 8
Rhaena's sword swings true and she slices Aegon's head neatly off his shoulders. It flies a little distance with the impact, hitting a shocked guard in the stomach. He falls back, clutching his king's head with a cry of horror. Blood spurts from Aegon's severed neck as his corpse topples to the ground. The other guard simply stands and stares as Ser Olyvar, driven by his own furious momentum and the insanity of the moment, sinks his sword into Rhaena's thigh. And then, as he pulls his sword free, he sees Aegon's headless corpse. "Mother have mercy!" He cried.

Rhaena cursed as the sword slit open her thigh through her armour, by the looks of it, in the exact same place she had her thigh slashed open by the Dragonbane at the battle of Oldtown, the place seemed to be her weak point.
"You are beseeching the wrong person for mercy right now," Rhaena said, steel in her tone and fire in her eyes, probably looking frightful with her brothers blood soaking her, making chunks of her silver hair red, her eyes white and purple pools in a sea of red. "I am the eldest living, legitimate child of King Maegor, second of his name. Uphold your oath and drop your sword, Kingsguard."
She could feel the blood dripping down her leg.

Ser Olyvar Webber had always been the most dutiful of the brethren. He had done his best to uphold the laws and customs of the realm as well as his duties as a knight of the Kingsguard, and his loyalty to the crown was fierce. There had been a moment of doubt in his mind since the beginning, when Rhaena had first claimed Aegon had tried to kill her baby. And now, with Maegor's only legitimate son dead, and only bastards remaining - who Webber could not bring himself to support - he felt that he had only one choice left. He dropped his sword and bowed his head.
"Your Grace," he murmured. "I beg your forgiveness. You are our queen now, it's true. All men know King Maegor looked highly upon Your Grace."

"I was queen the second my father's breath left his body," Rhaena said, thinking herself Maegor's true heir. Her mother had said so, Trajan had said so, even Maekar had said it in a round about way. Maekar. After all the killing, now was perhaps the time to try for a less red route.
"Put that head down on the desk." She said to the guard who held the head and walked over to it herself. She looked at the two of them, plus the other two who were on the floor, injured. "Summon my family here. All of them. Just tell them they have been summoned to the Windwrym." she told one of them who was still able to walk and looked to the other one, "You. Go and fetch the other Kingsguard, and tell him to come here also." She was not even sure if there were any more on Dragonstone.
"Ser Olyvar, you stay here." she instructed, looking at the Kingsguard, "Take up your sword again, knight, and guard your Queen." She had thought about Webber, and in all honesty, she needed someone like kingsguard around, especially now she had done this. If he had wanted to carry on trying to harm her, he would have done so, and it seemed as if he had not seen Aegon was dead. She could always deal with him later if she had to, but she knew Webber, had known him for the eight years he had served, and did not think he would turn on her.
"Go." she ordered the other guards who were still in the room, injured or otherwise.
She walked across the room, and retrieved her bow, wiping it lovingly before replacing it on her shoulder.

The man holding Aegon's head set it down with exagerrated care on the desk. Aegon's face and hair were all bloody, his eyes staring and lifeless. The guards left the room as they had been commanded to do, though they all went cowed and wary, eyeing Rhaena with expressions ranging from fear to dislike.
Ser Olyvar bent to pick up his sword. "You're bleeding, Your Grace," he told her. "What shall we tell the Lord Commander?"

"The truth. Aegon attacked me and our child when I told him of his lovers death." She said to the Kingsguard, She glanced down at her leg, which was still bleeding quite badly, but did not act on it just yet. Let the pain ground her. She didn't bother wiping her face, or cleaning of the blood she could already feel start to dry.
Rhaena looked at Aegon's head and closed his eyes before looking away.

"As you command." Ser Olyvar knew better than to question his queen and he was well aware that his duty often involved holding his tongue.
Meanwhile, Ser Derryk arrived with Laena. Both stopped short when they saw Aegon's body and severed head. Ser Derryk paled and threw himself down before Aegon's body. "Gods preserve us!" He cried. "And I wasn't with him? What happened, Ser?" He looked up at his brother in arms, who didn't answer.
Laena paled when she saw her grandson's body but her eyes flicked to Rhaena, noting the blood. Otherwise, she showed no visible signs of distress. Frowning, she approached her granddaughter and whispered "Let me tend your wounds. You have a difficult road to walk now."

"Get on your feet." Rhaena ordered the recently arrived Kingsguard, her voice not loud, but akin to thunder nevertheless violet eyes boring into him from amid the red of the blood on her face. "That my father appointed such a display," said, her tone speaking of her incredulity.
Her eyes moved to Laena without moving her head, and went back to looking forward as she approached, knowing how much her grandmother loved them all, even the ones whose life choices she did not approve of. At her grandmother's request, she nodded once, looking at the door, partially to be aware if anyone came in who was not of a kneeling inclination. She didn't trust herself to speak right now in anything but an iron tone, as if she let it soften she might lose it forever.
She sat back further on the desk and raised her wounded leg slightly, it hurt, even doing that, but she didn't let it show on her face, she didn't want any weakness to come out.

Ser Derryk Moore was not the brightest of the Kingsguard knights but he was obedient. He rose on unsteady feet, his face wet with tears. "King Aegon was a good man," he said, very low. "Who is King now, Webber? Pray tell me we don't have to go back to Kings Landing and bend the knee to Maekar. He'll have our heads off for sure."
Webber gave his comrade a sharp look. "Her Grace shall be Queen Rhaena, First of Her Name. King Maegor and Queen Rhaella would have wanted it."
Moore bowed his head. "Your Grace," he murmured.
Having left her healer's kit in her own chamber, Laena had to do the best she could. So she fetched a bottle of wine from the far cabinet, tipped a portion into a bowl and took out a rag. Loosening Rhaena's armour at her thigh, Laena saw that the wound had come in at the join. She looked up at Moore, who was still plainly distressed by Aegon's death. "Go fetch my healer's chest from my chamber. It is a black chest with the dragon painted on in red enamel. Hurry."
Moore fled gladly and Laena whispered to Rhaena that she should sit still, and then she began to clean the blood around the wound, before washing the wound out with wine.

Rhaena gave Moore a sharp look also. Perhaps she should invest in a complete new Kingsguard.
Rhaena was quiet for a while as they waited for others to arrive, "Do you think it will heal well?" Rhaena asked Laena when she had inspected it. She glanced at Webber and turned so he could not see her face and hopefully could not here her as she whispered. "I did not have a choice, Grandmother."

"I know," Laena murmured. "We all hoped otherwise." She busied herself tending the wound as she said, more loudly "Your Grace will heal very well, I have no doubt, though you will want to rest the leg as much as possible for a while. a hard thing to do now, I know." She lowered her voice again. "Does anyone else know? What about Webber?"

"Know what? That I killed him? I will not lie about it. I did kill him, but he came at me first," Rhaena said, "When I told him I killed Elseyris," she went on, meeting her grandmother's eyes. She assumed she did not need say she had intended on killing him anyway. "It was down to your teachings, that I am still alive."
