Gendry nodded. "Can i have one now. I'm so tired but I'm scared to wake Rosey."

"Of course." Kesi said, "But I am needing to be giving this to her now, if you wouldnt mind waking her while I am making it?"

Gendry went and gently woke Rosey, telling her that Kesi had something that would help her. The girl stirred uneasily and coughed, but seemed to accept the explanation.

Kesi finished making the dreamless drink for Gendry and gave it to him as she went and made Rosey have the warm concoction.

Gendry drank the potion, climbed into bed and was soon asleep. Rosey watched curiously. She looked better than she had when Kesi had found her, but she was clearly very sick. "Poor Gendry," she said, coughing. "He has no idea."

"Idea of what?" Kesi asked, passing her the drink. She poured herself something and sat beside Rosey on the bed.

"I'm dying," Rosey said, still coughing between each word. "He's sure you can save me, but I ain't stupid. I know I'm dying."

The girl nodded and slowly drank the drink, though she had to stop at one point during a fit of coughing.

"Come here." Kesi said, holding her arms out for the girl to have a hug. "Maybe you can be getting better."
She started to sing softly in high valyrian.

Rosey hugged Kesi but her eyes were wide and curious. She started to relax with the singing though. Her eyes closed.

Kesi stroked the girls hair to calm her down.
"Be telling me Rosey, if you can be... What has happened to Gendry?"

"What do you mean? He grew up on the streets, same as me. Bad thigns happen." She said it in a dull, accepting voice.

"Like what?" Kesi probed. "I have never been living on streets, only way that I can be helping him is knowing his past."

"You know we didn't have food or money," Rosey explained, continuing to cough every few words. "So Gendry grew up hungry most all the time. And there were beatings too. And worse. He never got to stay any place long, and people are cruel to beggar children. Kick them and hit them and things. It's worse for some, girls especially. But there was a man who...I had to pull Gendry away from him, because he said he'd give him lemon cakes. Gendry didn't understand until he saw a man do it to another boy." She shivered and a coughing fit broke out. It seemed a long time before she could speak again. "And you see people die, too, and you get bitten by hungry dogs and it's cold and dirty all the time. And sometimes you have to sleep right by your own piss or vomit."

Kesi continued to play with Roseys hair and stayed silent for a long time.
"You are looking after Gendry before." She said, though it sound as such it was not a question. "There is no way that either of you will be ever going back to streets I am promising you. I will always be taking care of you, both of you for as long as I am able to. I am hoping that you are knowing this?"

"Yes. I know it. So does Gendry. But we can't forget the streets. It was horrible. Sometimes it made you want to die, cos there was no escape. Not before you came." The girl shivered despite the warmth in the room. "It was like waiting to die, truly."

"I am knowing it will never be truly forgotten." Kesi said. "I am dreaming every night of fire so I am knowing how it is feeling when there are being horrors in past."
"But come now, you are needing sleep, how are you ever to be getting better if you are not resting?"

Rosey nodded. "Can you sing me another song? I don't know the words of your songs, but I like them." She smiled innocently, but coughed again.

Kesi smiled. "Maybe one day I can be teaching you." She said then started on a song that her own mother had sung to her in Great Moraq.

Rosey began to relax and finally fell asleep. She seemed quieter and more peaceful now, and her breathing seemed better.

Kesi brushed the girls hair off her forehead.

She woke up before both children and watched Rosey intently as if to figure out if her spell had actually worked or not

She was welcomed in.
Kesi was at her little window garden teaching the boy the names of the plants she used.

"Kesi, Gendry, I hope you are both well," said Elseyris, wandering over to them, admiring the window garden. She glanced briefly over her shoulder at the inquisitor, staying by the doorway, watching them, but then returned her gaze to Kesi and the boy with a smile.
