Aegon's primary residence is on Dragonstone, but he spends enough time in the capital to warrant permanent lodgings. Aegon's quarters are large enough, as per his station, but there are few personal touches to them.

Rhaena arrived on time for the luncheon that Aegon had invited her too. He was fortunate that Tyraxes had refused to wake up, after being able to get some proper rest or she would have already have left before his message arrived, she needed to get back to the war.
She hadn't tried particularly hard with her attire, picking the first thing dress out of a trunk of dresses her mother insisted she have, and that mostly got left unopened. The dress was a very deep purple, with silver embroidery up the bodice and it made her eyes look even more purple. Her hair, she wore down, so it flowed like a river down her back, coming to rest just by her waist. She'd tie it up before she left again.
Without even a pause when she arrived at her brother's door, she knocked immediately and walked in.

Aegon was dressed informally, and he rose from his seat as Rhaena strode into his room unannounced, as was her custom.
"Rhaena," Aegon smiled. He knew his sister did not approve of his newfound faith. It had raised tensions between them, but she was still his sister and Aegon loved her. "I did not even realize you were in the capital until I heard some of the knights gossiping. I must have missed you at the feast. Sit and eat with me."
Aegon gestured towards an empty chair, before which brunch was spread out upon -- soft white cheeses, crusty brown bread, fresh fruits, and a portion of freshly slaughtered ham.

"I had not planned to stay so long, in truth, I was to inform the king and be on my way, but Tyraxes had other plans, you should never tickle a sleeping dragon, or so they say in the east," Rhaena explained, pleasantly, smiling at her brother and sitting down in the chair he'd offered her, relaxing and leaning back in it.
"So you get the pleasure of my company... lucky you," she popped a slice of apple into her mouth with a smile, being back in King's Landing was a welcome break from the camp if only for the better quality in food, "I hear congratulations are in order,"

Aegon chuckled at the thought of tickling a dragon, but he looked perplexed at Rhaena's last comment. "Are they?" Aegon asked, "What for?"

"Having to juggle around so many women interested in your hand, You should become a travelling act," she teased, not usually interested in talks of marriages and the intrigue of matches, she was just glad men did not try and attract her attentions so brazenly, or women for that matter. "I wish you luck with them."

"Ah, as you say," Aegon replied. He wondered if there was some hidden meaning behind her words, but if so Aegon did not understand either women or politics well enough to puzzle it out. Surely she must know that she would be considered as a potential bride? It would give Aegon's septon fits, but the King would no doubt be pleased at such a match. "How goes the war?" Aegon asked instead. "Are you drawing near to Oldtown?"

"Maekar is dealing with some faith militant skirmish at the gates of Cider Hall, and then I believe we shall be ready to earnestly turn our attention south, two thousand additional men will be meeting with us at Highgarden, which will bolster us." Rhaena said, pour herself a cup of wine and stirring it with a finger absent mindedly, "How is King's Landing? I will not get much chance to see it properly."

"I have not been here long," Aegon replied. "Father called me back to deal with these foreign dignitaries, I think, but I hope to take the field again soon. I feel useless cooped up in the capital when there is still fighting in the south."

"some people must stay cooped up in the capital, eating all the food, drinking all the wine, and doing general chit chatting... the Kingdom would simply fall apart without it." It would be a known opinions of Rhaena's that everyone in their family who could fight should do, without her needing to say it. "If you wish to do something though, you are welcome to accompany me back, the more dragons we have fighting the better."

"Yes, I intend to ask father for the command," Aegon replied. "Maekar has done a fine job so far with two dragons and seven thousand men, but if we double both those numbers I think we can make a real push south."

"I do not think MAekar will be best pleased with you taking his command, that he has had for so long and put so much work into," she couldn't help but get a little annoyed at the suggestion her brother was making, "We are already planning a real push south, but these things take time,"

Aegon shrugged. His bastard brother was a good battle commander, though Aegon did believe himself to be better. But at any rate, he considered a command his right as the King's heir. "Maekar should be pleased if we meet with success, whether it is his command or not. Mayhaps father will choose to lead himself. I cannot say, I never know his mind."

"I don't think anyone does," Rhaena replied with a soft laugh, though there was an obvious edge to it, "Maekar would be pleased with winning no matter what, we all would, but he has put three years into getting to know the men, earning their respect and trust, and to up heave that, so close to when we may be finishing this war, could jeopardise that," rhaena replied, not wanting to just say that it seemed selfish and unfair, "Should you too not be happy with whomever is in command, so long as we win?"
She paused very briefly then shrugged, "you'll do as you will, I imagine."

"Of course I will be satisfied with victory," Aegon answers, "It is father's choice in the end. But lords ill like being commanded by a bastard, and I have had more success in battle than Maekar."

"When you put it that way what possible reason could he not have for picking you?" Rhaena replied with a level smile, "this is hardly the time to speak on it though, when i depart soon to rejoin him. If father makes you commander, I shall know soon enough anyway, underhanded as that might be" She popped another piece of fruit into her mouth, "did you enjoy mothers party?"

"Underhanded?" Aegon frowned. "I thought I made my intentions adequately clear." He shakes off the thought. "I did not enjoy the occasion. A party to celebrate how deeply we are in debt is not much of a celebration at all. But I did enjoy the party itself," he says more lightly. "Did you?"

"It was... Enlightening to a degree, I spent a lot more time there than I intended, in truth, I was to go there eat then rest for the journey back, but several things put a stick in the cartwheel of that plan" Rhaena replied, choosing not to continue talking about Aegon's war plan, it was making her angry when she needed to be more vigilant. "Did you meet the banker? I saw him only briefly by Father's rooms."

"I did. He was..." Aegon searched for the right word. "Diligent in his duties. He seemed to care for little else."

"That is both a good and a bad thing, I think, father didn't seem best pleased when I saw him after their meeting." Rhaena informed him, "the sooner we end this war, the sooner we can start trying to end that debt." That was one of the reasons she hoped argon would not get the command, as she intended to get heavy reparations from the faith 's ostentatious septs.

"On that we agree," Aegon replied. He raised a glass. "To an end to this war and peace in Westeros again," Aegon proposed a toast.

"I think on that, the whole country agrees," she said, raising her goblet and holding it closer to his so they could toast properly, "a quick end to the war."

Aegon clinked glasses, then drank. "It will almost be strange," Aegon reflected after. "If we can win this war for good and all, I mean. It's been raging longer than we have been alive. Though it would certainly not be an unwelcome reprieve."

Elseyris knocked softly on the door, and waited for a response.

After a moment, Aegon opens it. "Hello, Elsey. Do you want to come in?" Aegon asks. He had not expected her, but it was not an unpleasant surprise.
