"I can manage<" he said. "And, truly, my lady, it is different. The princess is not so much younger than me. No man likes a young girl to think him weak. My lady is a woman grown," he pointed out. "No doubt you are wiser than your niece too."

Nodding at his choice. "I tend to think that I am wise sometimes but I can still learn new things."
"My niece is strong, there is no doubt. But she bested you today and you offended her slightly with your remark about her mocking you." She frowned. "You did not see her face, but I did."
"She offered you her hand and an apology, that doesn't make you look weak. It makes her humble enough to care about someone when she has hurt them."
Arenya turned to leave, she tossed her apple core into a nearby barrel,"Be sure to think of that next time you meet her."

Elseyris clapped wildly at Daenya's swift victory.
When she seemed less crowded, she bounded over;
"Well done, Cousin! He didn't stand a chance!"

Valio bowed to the lady before she departed. But he said nothing more about Daenya or about anything else. Instead he mouthed a few courtesies and limped off towards the maester.

Orys entered the yard, still dressed in his simple gray doublet and black breeches and looked about. He did not see who he was looking for, and stopped to lean against one wall and think a moment.

Daenya was also in the yard, currently practicing her aim with her bow and arrow. She hit as many targets as she missed and frowned, deciding she was having a bad day. She noticed Orys though did not approach him, being not too familiar with him.

Orys watched Daenya at her archery practice and laughed to himself a bit as she missed. Not out of any particular meanness or dislike for her, but out of the painful memory of his own failures at archery. He remembered the day where he cast down a practice bow after slapping his own arm with the drawstring. He hadn't touched a bow since that day. Truth be told, he much preferred the sword anyway.

Daenya let one more arrow fly, striking the target in the arm, before setting her yew bow down.
"Orys is it?" She called over, a smile on her face.

He looked at her. "That I am, my lady. What can I do for you?" Orys already knew who she was. Everyone in court knew the trueborn Targaryens.

"You look lost," Daenya said to him cheerfully as she made her way over. "Were you looking for someone in particular?"

Orys grinned at her. "I'm not exactly lost. I was simply hoping to catch her grace in the yard. I wish to ask her blessing to join the war effort. Though, if I can't find her, I suppose my grandmother's blessing will do just as well."

"Well I am sure you will get my mother's blessing," Daenya told him happily. "You can probably find her in her rooms if she isn't here."
She studied Orys. "Well, as you are off to war would you mind giving me a spar? Just to get yourself ready!"

He looked her up and down. In truth, Orys was not an exceptional swordsman. But, what harm would there be in sparring?
"I'd be happy to oblige you, my lady."

Daenya grinned broadly. "Great! But don't go easy on me because I am a girl, or a princess." She quickly fetched some leather armour, a helmet, sword and shield.
"Ready when you are."

Orys equipped himself in a similar fashion and pointed at her with his blade. "My lady, you may have the honor of the opening blow. It is only fitting for one of your position." He flashed a smile and held at the ready.

"I will have to decline. In battle no one will give me that opportunity!" She smiled and drew hers sword.

Orys and Daenya square off to each other, right off the bat Daenya can tell this is going to be an interesting fight as she overlooks the man's stance and critics it. The first confrontation merely served as a lesson to Orys as he went in for the attack and Daenya was able to bat it away with hardly any effort. One the second confrontation though Daenya decided to drive the lesson home and attacked the poor stormlander bastard relentlessly, Orys walks away from the battle with bruises covering both sides and he is fairly sure that his shield arm is broken.

Orys ached all over. "You certainly thrashed me, my lady." His shield arm was limp to his side. He laughed, despite the pain. "Heh, I'd guess I'd best see a maester." He tasted iron in his mouth and spit. The glob of saliva was a light pink.

"I am sorry if I hurt you," Daenya said, passing her weapons and armour to a page, before checking up on Orys. "I do hope this won't stop you from going to war! It would just be dreadful if I stopped you from attaining glory."

Orys laughed and cracked a joke despite his pain. "My lady, if that spar was any indication, my skill won't be winning me any glory. Still, I may allow myself sometime to heal if my arm is in truly bad shape."

"No doubt there will be more than enough time to prove yourself," Daenya said, smiling in relief. "After all, I don't think this war will be over soon... the Faith still hold Oldtown and... well, I don't know that much about the war."

Orys sighed. "No, sadly I don't think the war will be over soon." He looked at the ground and spit again. "Well, I suppose I should find a maester and get this looked at. I don't suppose you know where I can find one this time of day?"

"I can bring you to Grand Maester Benedict, if you wish?" Daenya suggested. "I am sure he will be able to help you out!"
