They are both admitted fairly quickly by the Kingsguard at the door, a wary look on Maegor's face as both of his daughters entered.

"Father," Daenya said, smiling at Maegor as the two of them entered. She had done her hair up in two braids again and wore her new perfume.
"How are you today? Good, I hope."

"Well enough." he replied, wrinkling his nose at the perfume. "Though your hair has a way of souring that."
"What do you want?" he asked them both, his tone more fatherly then regal, intuition that when he was outnumbered by daughter's it was typically because they desired some boon or other.

"Well, Rhaena and I had a little idea that we thought you would like to hear about," Daenya began, grinning at her sister. "Regarding... slaves."

Maegor arched an eyebrow at the less-than-tactful opening pitch, looking to Rhaena as he was unsure if his less-than-sane daughter was serious.

Rhaena looked to Daenya, but didn't smile, just turning her eyes to the King.
"Father, our ancestors in the old Freehold used slaves. Their empire was half built on their backs. They provide relatively cheap alternative to paid workers, a one off payment and then you only have to pay for the expenses of keeping them," she said, in an even voice, "As well as that, many young men died in the war, that means a lot less people to tend the fields. A slave workforce could be the ideal solution to the problem of how we can get our harvests done, especially if an impending winter is on it's way." she was not sure if it was, they could crop up at any time. "Finally, once the country stabilises itself from it's present unbalance as to the work to be done and the workers to do so, then the number of slaves can easily be dwindled by freeing a portion of them, at which time they would become tide paying members of society, who will be grateful to the crown, trained and already have a good work ethic ingrained into them. Those that remain as slaves would be a sign of a houses prosperity. I would have suggested the prisoners from Oldtown, but Aegon freed them, and slaves with such a rebellious streak would also be hard to control."
"It has not escaped my attention that slavery is hardly popular in the Seven Kingdoms, but it takes very little to change minds. When the upper echelon of society do something, it very quickly filters down the classes, and withing a few decades, just becomes common place. All we would need to do, is get the support of a few well regarded lords, and then the rest should be easy." After that Rhaena took a step back, indicating she had finished as waited for what the King had to say, she was aware that it had been rather a speech, but it would be better to have it all out so it could be picked at that just have it nit picked through out.

Maegor listened to the stream of information in silence, giving the proposition his rapt attention.
"You have put a great deal of thought into this proposal." he commended, before looking to Daenya again. "Do you have anything to add?"

"The Hightower collapsed, as you know," Daenya said, hands behind her back and chest out. A military stance, authority; she knew some of the things her father valued, for sure.
"Some of the rubble might have already been cleared away, but there are countless stones remaining. Adding to that, the Starry Sept is now worthless, meaning more unused building material. Materials that could be put to a good use." She smiled and took a step forward. "In the East they have fighting pits, sending fierce warriors to fight each other to the death. Sometimes they hold pitched battles too, or send in animals to fight the warriors."
She looked to Rhaena, smiled and turned back to her father. "Think of the money such spectacle would make. If we get slaves to use these stones to build a fighting pit, we would have no financial worries, father. We could built a fighting arena to rival any other in the known world."
She nodded to emphasize her point and took a step back.

"I will take the matter under consideration and broach the subject with the Small Council." he replied after a moment of silent contemplation. "Rhaena, make sure to familiarize yourself with the trade during your travels."

Daenya smiled, knowing that half the battle was won.
"Is there anything else you wish for me to do, father?" She asked softly.

"There was something else I wished to ask you, your grace," Rhaena said after Daenya had asked if there were anything else,

"Wash that ridiculous shade from your hair, before I have it shaved." he replied, sharply. "After that, if you wish to better this family, take some initiative like your sister rather than waiting to be led. I raise dragons, not sheep."
He turned his attention back to Rhaena, motioning for her voice her inquiry.

Daenya did her best to hide a sneer, electing to turn and walk calmly from the room.

Rhaena watched Daenya go, keeping her face even, but feeling bad for her sister. She would have to talk to her later.
"When I was in Oldtown still, after the battle, I broached a suggestion on the matter of the Faith to The Queen," Rhaena began, pausing to see whether or not this was an appropriate thing to raise at this particular moment.

"That suggestion being...?" Maegor prodded, assenting for her to continue.

"As much as I would like it so, it would seem ill advised to ban the practice of the faith," she began, not sure how the idea would be recieved. Her mother approved of it, but she was a very different animal to the King. "I do not think our family can ever really be away from the nefarious means of it while it exists though. I suggest we use time, patience and the peoples own blindness to eradicate it, like an eroding stone."
Once again she paused, not wanting to over step the mark, giving him plenty of time to stop her while she was ahead if he wished it.

"I believe four decades was patient enough." he responded, though not unkindly. "Though the matter does require some tact. What did you have in mind?"

"That was war, peace is difficult in its own way," she said to him, knowing full well neither of them knew what peace was really like.
"the people are starving, would it be very difficult to turn the septs into a kind of poor house in which they can go and get food or whatever it is they need. It could be the septs are having to house it due to their starting the war, and causing the strife. It could be installed as a temporary measure, upheld by the benevolence of our king." She paused here, less for effect and more to get her mind back on track, she was still thinking on slavery.
"In that way, the crown would gain favor with the peasants, whilst the Sept more and more become recognized less as places of worship, but as symbols of the power of the crown. Naturally, the temporary measures become less temporary, and over time we can add information on the gods of Old Valyria, then they would begin associating them with the good they are receiving from the places. If something is changed for long enough, if stops being what it once was."

"Would they not still associate the sept with their salvation, especially with the septons within continuing to preach?" Maegor inquired, though did not seem opposed to the concept. "The septs would remain as a symbol of charity to the smallfolk, a status which likely endeared the Faith among them in the first place. It leaves the septs as places to turn to in times a desperation."
"Now, converting the septs to temples to the Valyrian pantheon, or building the temples separately with the added benefit of distributing food may convert some of the peasants over time."

"Unless we turf out the septons, suggesting a lack of space," she suggested, "converting outright could be expensive, but if done gradually, would allow for the transition to be less of of a shock, less likely to incur another negative backlash. It may be too late for this generation in mass, but if the next grows up with the gods of Valyria in their minds, more and more it would ebb the faith away."

"We will need more Valyrian magi." Maegor offered. "They are a rarity in these times, but perhaps you will find some in your travels that require a proper congregation. When we have the funds, we will need a seminary of our own to train new ones."

"I shall look out for some, or at least the tools with which to train some. There must be some Andals here that are disillusioned by forty years of war," she said and smiled slightly.
"I have taken up much of your time, your Grace, you must be very busy, so With your leave I shall go." She bowed to her father, and waited to be excused.

"I am little surprised, Your Grace," she said after the longest of long pauses, having to school her features. She had suspected, but still thought if he had to choose he would have chosen Daenya. "But very honoured by his decision." Her voice was slightly edged, "I trust you will not be walking me down a sept in a black and red cloak."

"Your brother has been convinced to publicly denounce the Seven as well, so I would think not." he replied with an enigmatic smile.
