"Publically denounce," she repeated, not looking convinced. She was to marry a pious man of the faith, dressed up as a dragon. "I assume this means I am no longer going to be taking a trip east?"

"You may still take it if you wish." Maegor replied, knowing her excitement and the potential diplomatic good the excursion had. "It will take months to properly prepare for the ceremony."

"It will be a big event then?" She replied, much preferring a smaller more intimate event, but that would hardly show the might of their house.
The travelling was a silver lining that she would not waste.
"Thank you father, I shall not disappoint you." She bowed again and waited to be dismissed.

"It is as much a celebration of the peace as a union of the monarchs that will usher it in." Maegor replied. "It requires a certain spectacle." "Thank you father, I shall not disappoint you." She bowed again and waited to be dismissed. "You never have." he said with rare warmth. "That will be all."

Baelon arrived at the King's quarters after leaving his meeting with the Master of Ships. He requested an audience with his brother via an attendant.

The Lord Commander attended with King Maegor, he rocked back and forth slightly to avoid pains in his knees.

Baelon nodded to his brother Brandon on his way in, before bowing to his brother the King. "Your Grace," he began, "If you have a moment, I have a proposal to which I hope you might grant your approval."

"How was the bedding?" Maegor inquired instead, not glancing up from his missives. "I could never bring myself to bed a woman that was not blood of the dragon, but I suppose some of us have less pride than others."

Then how did Trajan come about? Baelon wondered, as he told the king, "We bastards must accept the hand we are dealt, Your Grace. But the bedding went well, after the initial mishap. Thank you for asking."

"Well I commend you for accepting your duty with less resistance than the rest of my kind." Maegor replied, offering rare praise.

"You honor me to say so." Baelon replied. He hated this part - using dozens of empty words when a fraction of that should have sufficed. "All I have, I owe to the crown, and I would endeavor to pay back some small portion of that debt. Which is why I disturb you today."

"Get to the point, Baelon." Maegor replied which a motion of his hand to hurry along, clearly having the same disregard for flowery speech. "My time is too valuable to waste on too many of your words."

Baelon smiled and went on. "I want to go hunt pirates in the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea. Not right away, I'll wait until the wife is with child. If you grant me your approval, Daenerys Velaryon has agreed to let me use some ships for it, and I can likely convince the Celtigars to do similar. The profits would be split between the contributing houses, of course with an appropriate amount going to the royal treasury."

"Do it." Maegor answered without a moment's hesitation. "It is time order was restored to the realm and coin to our coffers."

"Thank you, Your Grace." Baelon replied, wondering why he even bothered with seeing Redwyne beforehand. "May I take my leave? There is much to be done."

She is allowed entry by the Kingsguard, greeted by the sight of King Maegor seated behind a long oak desk.
"Have a seat." he intoned, rapping his fingers rhythmically upon the smooth wood.

"Thank you, Your Grace," Elseyris replied, feigning calm, sitting down across from him.
Whatever he says, hide your contempt this time.

He studied her for a few moments before speaking, eyes probing for signs of weakness as ever.
"There is a ship bound for Dragonstone in the morning." he replied, each word measured. "I expect you on it."

Despite her facade of calm, his words took Elseyris aback entirely. If that was not the last thing she had expected to hear, it was very close to it. She stared in silence for a moment, mouth slightly open with surprise, then finally managed to speak.
"Certainly, Your Grace... it shall be done... Might I ask what it is you wish me to do when I am there?"

"If you have to ask then you truly are but a lamb." Maegor sharply, eyes boring through her.

"I am not a lamb, Your Grace. I merely did not wish to make an assumption, given the previous denial," Elseyris replied calmly.
She managed a small smile;
"This is a pleasant surprise. I thank you for your generosity."
