The active volcano on the island. The dragons residing on the island typically make their lairs here. It is said that dragons thrive best on Dragonstone. Dragons without riders often reside here and eggs tend to stay here unless they are gifted to members of House Targaryen. There are only four reliable pathways up the Dragonmont (West, Southwest, South, and Southeast) and each is guarded by a small fort garrisoned by at least 40 men at all times. No man or woman is permitted to enter the Dragonmont without express permission from the Queen of Westeros, upon pain of death.
[OOC: When approaching the Dragonmont please state which fort you are approaching, or if you are attempting to sneak past them.]

Valarr approached by the Southern pathway, he casually greeted the men there garrisoned.

The southern pathway was the easiest of the four, and the fort that guarded it was built into the mountainside so that it physically blocked the route up the mountain. Lord Valarr was admitted when he showed the Queen's writ, however, and the guardsmen allowed him to hobble his mount in their stables and continue onward; the terrain beyond the forts was far too rough for a horse.

Deciding on taking the westward pathway, he rode off, silently praying for success in his endeavor.
Once he reached the guards, he presented his papers.

Valarr asked the guards if the could supply him with any kind or meat, or perhaps a living goat.

Taking in a breath, he placed his horse in the stable. Daemon then asked if the guards could supply him with an meal offering for Tanis, hopefully she preferred a sheep or goat. Hells, if they had a cow, it might do even better.

One of the guardsmen offered to sell him a goat for a half a dozen stags; the cost was at least half again as much as one might pay for a goat in the Reach, but fresh meat was far less common on a volcanic island like Dragonstone.
[OOC: This tag applies to each of you. It is chump change to Valarr, but to Daemon it is a much more significant portion of his funds.]

Daemon knew it would take a chunk of money, but he had to do it, there was no choice. He paid with the Stags and asked if they knew where Tanis was located.

Valarr accepted without even thinking about the sum, he followed by asking if anyone knew about the whereabouts of Cyrax's. He is informed that the Dreadwyrm makes his roost near the peak of the Dragonmont, and is almost never seen during the day. He is also warned that there is no dragon on the island more ferocious, and when Cyrax hunts at night, he is all but invisible from the ground, swallowing up livestock and even men from time to time, in a single snap of his massive jaws.

She was informed that nobody had seen that dragon in many months, but it was last sighted on the eastern face of the mouton, near the sea-cliffs.

He nodded, thanked the guards, and left with the goat to start his search for her.

He nodded, thanked the guards, and left with the goat to start his search for her. After two days of rough hiking, with only the goat for company, Daemon reached the cliffs that the guardsmen had described to him. The cliff-face was riddled with caves, Daemon counted at least thirty before he missed one and gave up. Some opened directly into the air, but many were accessible by narrow ledges along the cliff face.

Valarr thought for a second, that would be very risky, he knew he could do it... But maybe it was not that worthy. He asked again, now about Glutton and Caligo. The massive brown dragon of Aegon, often known as the Septon King, had only grown fatter with age, and was known to roost near the base of the mountain, so he did not have to travel far to hunt. The path that the guards described to the cave where he was known to make his lair did not seem as though it would take more than a day to reach, by Valarr's estimate. Caligo's preferred haunts were further, on the other side of the Dragonmont.

"Great…", looking down at the goat. "Let's see… Do I take chance?"
He sat for a moment breathing the sea air, "This has to be something. Something, I forgot." Then it came to me, Arenya always addressed Tanis as "My Lady". Surely it was laughable, in all of these she could have forgotten that, but if she hadnt it could help.
He stood, looking at the goat again. "Gods be merciful", he whispered. Knowing he stood a chance of drawing anything with wings to him, he began calling out to her.

So Glutton it would be, Valarr didn't want to journey that far to get to Caligo.. He thanked the guards and proceeded his way, following the base of the mountain, with the goat on a leash.

Daemon actually had no way know knowing what pet names, if any, Tanis' former rider had used, and his cries produced no response from any of the caves, but for a small screech from one of those that he would have to edge his way along a narrow ledge to access.

He found the cave easily enough, for it was marked by a wide area of cracked and charred bones outside the cave's mouth, as well as a number of massive heaps of dragon dung. One of them still had smoke rising from it, and Maelys could hear sounds coming from deep inside the cave.

Being a bookworm served him no purpose out here apparently. Even if he had read it, it didn't work.
He listened to the small screeches. His brow wrinkled as he frowned. Two days on this bloody mountain and he spent the majority of his funds, he refused to go back empty handed. In reality, he couldn't go back without a dragon at all. The Queen's bastard son dragonless, he would not embarrass his mother with a failure.
Daemon decided to take the narrow path towing the goat along behind him.

Valarr entered the cave, avoiding to delve too deep and lose the sunlight. "Glutton... You there big boy?" Perhaps it was his phrasing that infuriated the dragon so, for a fearsome roar issued from the cave, causing the bones on the ground to vibrate as the ground shook. The goat began shrieking and tried to bolt; it snapped the leather lead that Valarr had tied around its neck and went scrambling madly away over the rocks. In the instant that Valarr's attention was on his former bait, Glutton spewed a gout of black flames at Valarr. The young Lord of Oldtown went reeling backward and escaped the worst of it, but the left sleeve of his tunic caught fire, and he felt the searing pain on his arm as he fell to the ground, rolling to extinguish the flames. Glutton lumbered forward, mottled brown and grey scales looking rather drab in the sunlight, and Valarr was able to scramble to his feet and get a hold of his whip before the dragon could breath fire again. [Valarr takes an Average Wound (-20)]

Being a bookworm was all well and good, but one could only read things that were actually written in books; apart from her minor role in the war and death at the hands of Ser Olyvar Webber, very little had been written about the traitor named Arenya Targaryen. As Daemon crept forward toward the cave, he somehow managed to drag the goat along the narrow path with him, thrusting it forward into the cave before he stepped inside as well, away from the edge of the cliff. As his eyes grew accustomed to the darkness, he saw a dragon in one corner, apparently sleeping, with copper-gold scales and horns and spines in a pale tan.

Valarr cursed. He cracked the whip and tried to maintain eye contact with the dragon, ready to dodge the next burst of flame, while holding at his best the pain he felt.
"Calm down, Glutton!"
