King's Landing's Harbor is a massive series of wharves and warehouses along the riverbank, outside of the capital's south wall. Hundreds of wharves just out into the river, some solid constructions of stone, and others rickety wooden docks, built with almost no semblance of organization. The highest quality wharves are reserved for the fifteen ships of the Royal Fleet that are stationed on the river, while the rest are rented out to whatever ship's captain can afford them. Ownership of wharfspace is very lucrative indeed, as a good berth is a highly fought-over commodity. The River Gate nearly always stands open, to accommodate traffic from the docks to Fishmonger's Square, directly inside the gates.
