Ser Elyas Sand, hair damp with sweat, limps into the armoury and scans his surroundings for the armourer.

He sees a tall man, very muscular, bending over a forge where he is beating a sword into shape. A handful of apprentices are also tending various pieces. One hurries over to him and bows. "How may we be of service, ser?"

"I require a new suit of mail to be made." Elyas said, with a rasp caused by a dry throat. It was evident the young knight he had enjoyed a day of more physical activity than might have been advisable in his current condition. "And I regret to inform you that I shall need it to be made both capably and quickly. I shall be leaving the city within the next few days to combat banditry in the north and have need of it by then. Prince Trystane has given leave for the armour to be acquired in his name."

The smith, overhearing, didn't look up. "I can do that. The boy can take your measurements, ser, and any further instructions regarding the armour. Do you require a helm as well?"

Elyas thought for a moment. He would require a helm to fight bandits. "Yes, a helm would be greatly appreciated as well. And it is known that these bandits have a penchant for firing flaming arrows at their targets, be they armed or not. Do you know of any manner in which the mail could be made more resistant to the effects of flame?"

"i shall try my best," Chayle promised. "But I cannot promise, ser." "I understand." Elyas replied. "I expect my demand is, rather unprecedented. In any event, as long as the mail itself is ready in time for my departure I am sure I will be sufficiently protected."

"Have no fears. I am the best smith in Dorne and my apprentices shall help also." He went back to banging on the sword while the boy said "Please, ser, let me measure you." He got out a string with knots in it at intervals to mark the measurements.

He got out a string with knots in it at intervals to mark the measurements. Ser Elyas stood still and straight, allowing the measurements to be made and raising his arms where necessary.

It didn't take long before his measurements were taken. "Is that all, ser?" The apprentice asked. "Do you have weapons?"

The apprentice smith had written down his calculations on a scrap of paper. Now he began to shout instructions to his fellows, who busied themselves fetching the appropriate materials.

Elyas limped out, heading for the castle kitchens to quench his thirst. After drinking a small amount of wine he returned to his quarters and began to clean them to the best of his ability.

Several days later, Elyas makes his way down to the armoury. His limp is slighly less pronounced, although that may simply be a result of it being earlier in the day than when he last made the journey to the armourer's.

He is immediately greeted by the same apprentice who helped him before. "Ser! Can I help you?" The lad bowed politely to him.

"What state is it in currently? You needn't worry, as we are not parting immediately, I simply wished to ascertain how much progress has been made in its creation."

"It's almost ready, ser. It should be done in another two days, if not sooner.. It looks good," he confided. "Master Chayle works steel like the Smith himself."

"I am sorry, but none did," he replied. "One of my lads lost his eyebrows, and I got a nasty burn myself. But it is good strong, mail, I promise."
He called to one of the boys, who returned with another, both bearing heavy packages.

He called to one of the boys, who returned with another, both bearing heavy packages. "Ah, well it is no matter, I shall simply have to avoid being set on fire." Elyas said, with what was intended to be a joking smile, but came across as extremely forced. "I am sure the mail is excellent in all other regards."
