Located at a predetermined location roughly equidistant between Yronwood and Blackhaven, though slightly on the Stormlands side of the border, the party representing the King of Westeros makes its camp to wait for their Dornish counterparts. There are several carriages, to house the belongings and household of Queen Visenya, who accompanied the party aback her dragon Silverwing. Lord Baratheon is in overall command, though the party is comprised of a mix royal guardsmen, Stormland, and Darkheart soldiers who have specific orders to safeguard the chests bearing Princess Daenya's ransom. In addition, a number of men from Storm's End had been added to fortify the party during the journey from Kings Landing to the meeting point. All told, the party consists of 240 men.

The Dornish party sails towards Yronwood, the ship dropping them off in the longboat . After a brief stop off at the castle, they head to the meeting point. There are one hundred guardsmen, plus Prince Quentyn, Lord Yronwood, Lord Osmund Ser Rhaegar and the captive Daenya, as well as a few household knights and various servants necessary to the party.

Daenya rode at the front of the party, though obviously with guards around her, dressed in her yellow dress and bedecked in a multitude of jewels, arm hoops, rings and earrings. She held herself in a royal fashion, her face not betraying anything.

Rhaegar Targaryen rode on a Dornish steed between his grandfather and Prince Quentyn. He wore the clothes and armor of a Dornish noble, but had deliberately chosen attire that were in the black and red colors of House Targaryen.

Lord Borros waited in full plate upon a black destrier, King Maekar's standard planted in the hard dirt and fluttering above him to mark the spot of parlay. Lord Roland Connington and Ser Cortnay Baratheon, his brother-in-law and cousin respectively, sat on either side. All three men were veterans of the Dornish Campaign during the Faith Militant Uprising. Behind them was the cart full of gold for the ransom, guarded by Darkheart guardsmen and royal troops. Behind them still were the remainder of the escort and Queen Visenya upon her dragon. All told, it was an impressive display of arms, yet every Stormlander was tense. On this very dirt countless of their kind had died in past excursions and it was not a place any of them longed to be.

Lord Osmund Mertyne sat atop one of Dorne's famed Sand Steeds at Lord Yronwood's left side, armored in a shirt of bronze scales and conical helm, with a round shield and a spear both across his back. The Dornishman was darker than most, for he was more Rhoynish than even the Marcher Lords that had accompanied the Dornish delegation, and he did not appear to notice the sun beating down on them.
Since it was his men who had technically captured Princess Daenya, he had been given the honor of being her custodian during the journey. Two of his men held the reins of the horse she was sitting on slightly behind Lord Yronwood and Prince Quentyn, waiting for the order to bring her forward. Daenya's horse well worthy of a Princess, perhaps an ironic jab on the part of the Dornish or perhaps truly out of respect for her rank.

Rhaegar glanced sideways at his grandfather and Quentyn. Since he was related to most if not all of the great lords present, he decided to take the lead.
He rode his horse slowly forward towards Lord Barathon and held his hand up in the signal for parley.
"Greetings cousin." he said to Lord Baratheon, remembering that his father and Lord Borros were first cousins and that he himself had Baratheon blood.
"I am Rhaegar Targaryen. May I introduce my grandfather Lord Yronwod and my cousin Quentyn Martell the younger son of Princess Sarella.

"So the rumors are true." Borros mused, raising his eyebrow at Rhaegar. "You are on the wrong side of the pass, cousin."
"We are well acquainted." he said in reply to the introductions, his eyes growing cold as he returned his attention to Lord Yronwood and Quentyn Martell. "Are you certain you would not prefer your ransom in goats? We can cut out the middle man that way."

Lord Yronwood stiffened with pride. "We will take the gold, my lord. Goats would be as much trouble as the princess here."

"So the rumors are true." Borros mused, raising his eyebrow at Rhaegar. "You are on the wrong side of the pass, cousin." Rhaegar smiled at Lord Borros, although his smile did not reach his eyes. "What rumors are these my lord?" he said pleasantly enough.

"That you fled the capital for Dorne, leaving your sisters behind as only a craven would." he replied to Rhaegar, with a smirk. "I had kept Elseyris company for some time in your absence. It was the least I could do."
"I shall try to hide my surprise that the Dornish could not handle a young woman." he quipped, in reply to Yronwood. "But the gold is yours."
Borros motioned the cart forward, which began wheeling towards the Dornish lines.

"My sisters were to flee with me but were captured, cousin." said Rhaegar quietly, as he watched the cart move forward. "Unfortunately given that our plan involved taking separate paths to our place of refuge, by the time I discovered they had been captured, it was too late. Thankfully for the sake of my father, your own cousin, I was able to rescue my mother. She lies safe at Yronwood."

"Considering one of them is now queen, I would say they received the better end of the bargain." Borros replied. "Your father was a fool. The sooner you accept that, the better off you will be. I was always a fan of your mother though."
"Have they mistreated you, princess?" he asked, with an appreciative glance at Daenya. "You have changed much since I last saw you."

Rhaegar's upper lip curled in distaste, an expression he did not try and hide.
"You accept Maekar Waters as your rightful king then?" he asked rhetorically. Rhaegar already knew the answer - why else was the man here - but he wanted the Lord of Storm's End to confirm it for all the Dornishmen present to hear. If there was one thing he had learnt is that the Dornish had long memories and did not readily forgive. Maekar's invasion of Dorne five years ago would be fresh in Dornish memories.

"I followed him into this godforsaken land once." Borros replied, reminding Rhaegar that the men of the Stormlands had ridden at Maekar's back during the Dornish campaign. "He is not a man I would wager against."

"Yet cousin," replied Rhaegar a gleam of amusement appearing in his eyes. "Dorne is still ruled by the Martells and owes no fealty to the Iron Throne."

"Have they mistreated you, princess?" he asked, with an appreciative glance at Daenya. "You have changed much since I last saw you." Daenya smiled at Rhaegar, then at Trystane, turning to Borros finally. "They held me captive; they killed my dragon; they stole my money; they forced me to do things that do not befit a princess," She said, her voice even. "Mistreated is too light a word for what they did. What he did." She added, pointing at Rhaegar.

Rhaegar burst out in scornful laughter at Daenya's words.
"I killed her dragon and returned her person to Sunspear upon the orders of Princess of Dorne on whose land she and her dragon occupied without the consent of the Princess. Subsequently she has been brought here, unharmed and in good health as a consequence of the negotiations between the Princess of Dorne and the man who currently sits the Iron Throne.
He looked towards his grandfather and Quentyn for confirmation. "The terms for the exchange have been agreed. Let us see them fulfilled."

"You will be free from such horrors soon enough, Your Grace." Borros replied, with empathy. "A pity to see how you treat your own kin, cousin. Should I expect the same?"

Daenya nodded at Borros before turning to Rhaegar. "I promised Sarella I would kill her, cousin. That same promise counts for you. I hope you can forgive yourself for being a dishonorable piece of shit." She smiled sweetly.

The man who had faced and killed her dragon in battle looked unconcerned at her words. He gave another bark of scornful laughter at her fit of pique.
"You can make all the promises you like Daenya. None will come to fruition. Come into Dorne again without invitation and you will meet the same fate as your dragon."
He chuckled. "I wish you joy of your brothers. Which side shall you join, I wonder?"
Rhaegar wheeled his horse, a broad smile across his face. "Look after her well Lord Baratheon." he said jauntily. "Her half brother has paid well for her person."

"Too well, I think." Lord Baratheon replies, suddenly reaching out to grip Lord Yronwood's reins. "I think I'll have the disparity back in Dornish blood."
In one fluid motion, he drew the dagger from his belt and drove it through Lord Yronwood's throat and out the back of his neck. The Bloodroyal died choking on his own blood, his only act of defiance coughing a glob of it which coated his murderer's face.
"Kill every Dornishman in this pass!" Borros shouted, not even bothering to wipe away the blood on his face as he drew his longsword.
Clearly having waited for this moment, Lord Connington separated Lord Mertyne's head from his shoulders as Ser Cortnay knocked Prince Quentyn to the dirt with the flat of his blade. Knights from Storm's End and Griffin's Roost charged forward down the pass with the men of Darkheart Keep not hesitating for a moment to join in the butchery. Stormland crossbowmen worked their way up the ridges to rain bolts down from either side. Only the royal guardsmen paused in confusion at the turn of events.

Rhaegar looked in horror at the carnage and drew his sword. He dug his heels into his horse which leapt forward towards the Dornishmen. Rhaegar roared orders to his men to form up and cover themselves with their shields. Given they were outnumbered there was no choice but to try and make some sort of an orderly retreat towards Yronwood. He looked despairingly at Quentyn and at the body of his grandfather.

Daenya looked up in shock, seeing Yronwood's blood spurt thickly from his throat. Her eyes widened before and for a moment she felt scared. Then her resolve came and her mouth tightened.
"Leave him for me!!!" She growled, pointing at Rhaegar. "Get that bastard!!"

The ranks of Dornish spearmen were slow to retreat, most bewildered and confused by the turn of events, not to mention the Targaryen yelling orders at them. Borros on the other hand, had control of his host, most of whom had clearly been prepared in advance for this eventuality. As the Stormland knights galloped down the pass, Rhaegar realized he was trapped between them and the Dornish spears. As it was, half the lines retreated while the other half remained firm with spears leveled. What disorder that had wrought on their lines was only made worse by the crossbow bolts raining down on them from above, one which buried itself in Rhaegar's back just below the shoulder blade and half a dozen more that found his horse. So it was that when the knights hit, they did so with the force of a sledgehammer, shattering the disorganized and outnumbered lines of their foes in a tumult of blood and broken bones.
Lord Baratheon rode up beside Daenya, easily cutting down the one guard that had remained beside her with a flourish.
(Rhaegar takes a Light Wound.)
