(Sometime before the queen and co depart Driftmark.) Janos' room was relatively bare, other than the bed it had a packed bookcase, a table, and a couple of chairs. Janos sat at one of them, with a freshly poured wineglass in one hand, a book he was reading in the other, and the nearly full bottle on the table.

By rights Rhaena didn't really need to ask to enter the rooms, but she had a servant announce that she was here to see him before she entered not long after, to give him polite warning company would soon be on him.
"Lord Janos," She said, in greeting to her father's old Hand. She didn't know the man well. "I am glad to see you here on Driftmark, not in the capital."
The Queen was wearing black breeches and a Red shirt, having not bought any dresses with her, he sword was on her hip, her bow over one shoulder, she would not be on driftmark long, and had taken up the habit of being able to take to the skies at any moments notice. Her wait was down and not in it's usual braid.

"Your Grace" Janos said with a bow. "Congratulations on your marriage, and my consolations for your loss" he continued, getting the matters over and dealt with.

"Thank you on both counts," She said, graciously, "the loss will not be felt long, Aegon and I shall get justice for the murder of our father,"
"I thought I should come and see you, after all, you were a valued adviser to my father, I was wondering as to the reason for your dismissal."

Janos offered a wine glass to Rhaena as he took a sip from his own. "I know this does not do me any favors saying this, but I honestly do not know why I was dismissed"

"That is perhaps better than a reason," she replied, though she was not surely entirely if it was, the man could just be blind to himself, "My father made some very odd decisions just before he died," Rhaena went on, taking the wine and drinking a small sip, "I trust the slight has not left you feeling negatively towards the crown,"

"Negative, no" Janos said. "Though I would be lying if I said I was not generally annoyed at falling from a position on the small council to... wherever I am now" he continued, taking a sip from his glass. "Though that has been something I can move on from"

"Yes, moving on is for the best," Rhaena commented, watching him with quick eyes, "Perhaps the crown can help you in your predicament. Aegon and I have a desire for experienced Councillors."

"An interesting offer" Janos said. "Though as enticing as it already is, I would be inclined to inquire about Details?"

"Are you really in a position to be inquiring about anything?" She asked, eyes growing dark for a second.

"Possibly, possibly not" Janos said. "However, what gamble rewards more than when the odds are against you?"

"True enough, but there is a difference between risky gambling and acting foolishly," She replied in an even tone, "I would offer to give you a renewed place on the small council, I doubt as Hand, but there will no doubt be positions opening that you will more than adequately be able to fill, depending on the state of things when we get back King's Landing."

"No you can't but I was hoping it were generous enough for the offer to be enough on it's own."she said, surprised he had verbalised such ill feelings, even if he thought them, "loyalty to the king should be free, and rewarded, not bargained an bought"

"I thought it was implied the offer was generous" Janos said. "Your grace, you and King Aegon had my Loyalty before you walked into this room, so I suppose I must apologize if you misinterpreted my answer" he continued, finishing his glass of wine before putting it back on the small table. "My meaning was that I could not refuse an offer of such a position, particularly when one considers my current position" He then changed his tone as he said "As said, you have my loyalty, so as you mentioned you wanted my experience so as to council you and King Aegon, I might start with advising when we have to negotiate with those of less decided allegiance, that you don't count on their loyalty being free, whether or not it should be"

"That is good council" She said, voice even, not giving away much, "Perhaps you can put that to the King as his councilor, when you arrive on Dragonstone."
