Dany's whole face lit up at his words. In an ideal world, her wedding would have been a marvelous spectacle including a small tourney and a grand feast, but there were her cousins to consider. There was no way she would have wanted the Targaryens to participate in it. She shook her head. "No. Just you and me. And your family," she said, still unable to stop smiling.

"That suits me. What about your mother and brothers? We can wait for them if you prefer, though I'd rather not wait at all. I'm tempted to carry you off to the sept and marry you this instant." He swept her off her feet.

Daenerys laughed, her voice echoing off the floors and walls of the dark hall like a silvery bell. "My mother should not leave Driftmark while I am not there and as to my brothers, well.. they are merely boys. Weddings are often a bore to them, surely." She paused, and bit her lip. "Perhaps we should."

"As my lady commands," he replied with good humour, and started to carry her through the castle.
He carried her through to a small sept, all white marble and bejewelled statues of the Seven, exquisitely carved. He set her down, gently, and led her to the altar of the Mother.
"Will you wait here for me while I fetch a septon?"

Slightly amused by the whole thing - she had only been half serious about getting married this instant, and had definitely not expected him to carry her all the way down to the Sept - Dany looked round to admire the sculptures. "Of course, dear," she told him, already walking over to the nearest statue to inspect it closer.

The statue of the Mother was very beautiful, with a realistic, loving face carved in exquisite detail in marble, with sapphires for eyes and gold leaf trimming on her dress. The other statues were much the same, though the Maiden was more beautiful even than the Mother.
Edmyn soon arrived with a septon and both parents. "If you're ready, Dany?" He said, approaching her and taking her hand.

"Yes," she replied, slightly flustered at the sight of his parents. "Are they fine with that?" she asked Edmyn quietly.

"Of course. They both wish me to be happy. It's enough for them. You're a worthy bride, someone they can be proud to call their daughter." He grinned and hugged her. "I know they will soon love you."

Dany smiled and looked to the septon to get on with their private ceremony.

They said the worlds as per the rites of the Faith, though Edmyn allowed Dany some time to say prayers to the Valyrian if she so wished. And then at last the septon raised the crystal high above their heads and announced "I proclaim Edmyn of House Arryn and Daenerys of House Velaryon to be one flesh, one heart, one soul, now and forever. Cursed be the one who comes between them."
Edmyn, grinning, leaned forward and embraced Dany in a heated kiss.

Dany leaned into the kiss and her face lit up again as they broke apart. "Feels as if I am dreaming," she said softly, feeling a little light-headed either from what was happening or the fact that she had not eaten since morning. "Shall we have that dinner now? Or should I name it a feast to better fit the occasion," she joked.

"Dinner will serve. Perhaps we might host a feast another time, with such of our families and bannerlords as we please." He grinned. "But let us eat, by all means, and soon I will take you on a tour of the Vale."

"And I am looking forward to meeting them," she said cheerfully before linking their arms and leaving the Sept.
///////////////
A couple of days after adjusting to the Eyrie and getting acquainted with Edmyn's family, Daenerys brought him to the courtyard for a proper introduction to Mith. She had waited until he had returned from his morning meal - no doubt some unfortunate mountain goat or smallfolk's sheep - to improve his mood.
"Come," she told Edmyn, tugging him towards the red beast. "At the first sign of hostile behaviour, we will leave. He has seen you around me many times, however. Perhaps he will even let you fly with me," Dany said, holding on to the whip in her hand firmly. What had happened to Lord Tybalt had been terrible enough; she would never let that happen to her husband.

But it seemed Mith was in a bad mood today. He lashed his tail as Edmyn approached. Edmyn was no coward, having fought in a number of battles, but he was not accustomed to being at close quarters with a dragon, and he knew it would be foolish to stand his ground. He stepped back a while.
"Perhaps you should calm him for a while. He seems not to like me much."

Dany approached Mith and laid a hand on his neck as she spoke to him in High Valyrian in an attempt to soothe the dragon. If he was a grump that day, cracking the whip would have hardly done any good. Still, it was a precaution.

But it seemed to make no difference. The dragon was clearly disinclined to accept Edmyn, who looked rather worried. "Perhaps we should find another answer," he sighed. "Or mayhaps I am just not meant to ride a dragon."

"Oh, we can try again another time," Daenerys replied lightly, walking back to Edmyn. "Just because he is not in the mood right now does not mean he has a personal vendetta against you. It might take some time and patience." She smiled. "I wonder if I should fly down today, give the mountain clans a proper greeting. What do you think?"

Edmyn grinned. "I'd appreciate that, and I know the clans could do with something to shake them up. They will likely give us less trouble now. Dragons are not often seen in their lands, I believe. Bloody savages, if you'll forgive me for saying so."

"Oh, not sure if I can," Dany teased and gave him a kiss before turning back towards Mith. "I will be back before nightfall," she called over her shoulder and mounted the dragon. They took off, and not too long after approached the infamous mountain passes where the clans were known to prey on passersby. Dany kept an eye open for any movement from down below.

After a while she saw a man in ragged furs and leathers look up at Mith. He turned and fled into the pass.

Dany had Mith fly low over the pass for a better view.

The man looked somewhat ruffianly to Dany, nothing like the people of the Eyrie. She was sure that he had to be one of the clansmen. Up ahead, she could see the shape of some rather primitive looking buildings and other people milling about.

She flew over them to give them a scare and turned back to find one of the main passes leading to the Eyrie, seeing as that was usually where the clans were hiding. If she kept this up at least once or a couple times a week, she figured they would not be as bold.

The clansmen were certainly disturbed by Dany and her mount. Her flyover caused the clansmen and their women to shout and point, before running. A few, she saw, snarled and shouted challenges, but it was unlikely they would be so bold were the dragon closer to them.

After a while, Daenerys and Mith returned to the Eyrie.
//////
A few days later, Dany brought Edmyn to Mith again in an attempt to make the dragon accept him.
