Arenya was preparing to move with her mother. Under the impression her show of gratitude was genuine until the elder laid on the floor dead. "What the fuck was that?!" Arenya never used foul language around her mother but this time it was warranted.
She turned to Laena, her face in a awe filled expression. "You killed her!!" She was stuck for a moment, then she looked at Aegon. "Someplace safe?! You just killed a healer, no place will be safe here soon.... " She then caught a stern look from her mother and followed her, shaking her head. Blood magic, dead healers, what the fuck is going on is all that rambled in her head as she looked at her nephew.

"The woman was dying," Laena said flatly. "She knew that, but she could not heal herself. Time cannot be dennied, Arenya. It was better for her to give her life so that I might be strong. She was frightened, though. Most people are frightened of death. I am not sure if she was more frightened of death or of her failure to prolong her own life forever. It had to be done. She knew some tricks, but not as much as I. The goat helped but it was not enough. There is more power in human blood and she was a sorceress." She looked directly at Arenya. "Sorcerers' blood is almost as powerful as king's blood. Her people will take care of her in death, and I shall pray for her and honour her sacrifice in doing so. She shelters under Vermithor's wing now, as must we all, one day."
She paused, looked at them both. "We must hurry back. This is no place to talk of such things."

Aegon had watched grim-faced as the goat had been slaughtered. He had been deeply uncomfortable with the act, but in the end he told himself it was only an animal. As the old woman fell dead, however, Aegon's stomach roiled. It was not until it was over that Aegon saw the knife in Laena's hand and another wave of shock came.
"No," Aegon said harshly. "You will set down your knife and place your hands behind your back to be bound, Laena," He used her given name and his hand was on Penance's haft.

Laena looked coolly at her grandson. "She was old, Aegon. Even she knew she could not have lived forever. A merciful death is better than slow and lingering. Do not play the hypocrite with me. I know full well you have killed men. Do you not wish to learn what happened to me in that temple?"

Arenya looked between the two of them. "We can't do this here, Aegon stop. "
"You are treating this in Westerosi fashion, when we are not in Westeros. And to be honest I for one would like to know what happened, before you bound and tie up my mother. " She looked at him.
"Something weird as hell just happened. Aren't you just the least bit curious as to why she passed out, why your grandmother decided to play in blood magic? And where that dagger came from?"

Aegon took the knife from his grandmother, then cut another strip from his cloak and tied Laena's hands behind her. "Walk," he said coldly, walking beside her with his hand on his arm and guiding them back toward the manse.
