[OOC: Calculating flying time, I think this occurs 7 days after the King's 'death' and Vira's arrest in King's Landing]
A dragon and its rider appears in the sky , flying south across the Westerlands until it reached Casterly Rock. Cyrax circled the castle a few times to examine its state before descending toward the outer bailey.

The keep was in fair enough condition. It had suffered it's share of scars from the war, but the boulders hurled by the Faith catapults may as well have been pebbles against the might of the Rock. Maekar noticed that all the flags on the keep hung at half mast.

Maekar landed in the bailey and slid off the dragon's back. He was windblown from the journey, and had been traveling almost constantly since leaving King's Landing a week and a half before. "I am Lord Maekar Dracaryn of Darkheart. I come to pay my respects to her lord father, the late Lord Lannister, and I would speak with the Lady of Casterly Rock," he said, looking at the men who approached when he landed.

Ser Jayson Lannister road out to meet him. The castellan of Casterly Rock was a handsome young man, unscarred despite seeing the worst of the fighting in the West during the war. He wore gleaming golden plate, looking torn straight from one of the songs naïve young girls clung to.
"Lord Maekar." he said in greeting, eyes tinged with a mix of sadness and surprise. "I am shocked you are not in the capital. We were about to depart for the funeral. You have my condolences and my cousin's as well, ser."

"Condolences?" Maekar replied, a hint of confusion in his voice. "I was in the North, on business of his grace the King, and had thought to speak with the Lady of Casterly Rock on my return trip. I flew here across country, without stopping at any of the keeps along the way," he added warily. "What funeral do you speak of?"

Ser Jayson took no pleasure in being the messenger for grim tidings.
"Your father the king's" he explained, in a mournful tone.

Maekar took an involuntary step back, his jaw dropping open in surprise and shock. "The King is dead? How long ago? He looked ill when I flew north, but not so ill as that," he replied. "What happened man?" he asked hurriedly.

"A week passed." the knight replied. "Though I do not think illness was a factor."
Ser Jayson paused for a moment, attempting to find a delicate way to word the next statement. Finally, he gave up.
"His Grace was butchered in his bed, by Lady Vira Blackwood."

Maekar laughed for a moment, before he realized that Ser Jayson was serious. "Truly, that is what the raven said?" he asked, a frown crossing his face. "The woman is eight months pregnant, she couldn't butcher a kitten, let alone one of the deadliest men in Westeros."
He fell silent for a moment, clearly thinking things through and trying to make sense of what he had heard. "I must leave for the capital immediately. Ser Jayson, if you would please escort me to Lady Lannister's solar, and inform her that I must speak with her privately, I would be obliged. The more quickly the better."

Ser Jayson was taken aback by the laughter at the grim news, borderline disturbed.
"Those were the tidings received." he replied, uneasily. "I am in no position to comment on their validity."
With that said, he escorted Maekar to his private meeting with the Lady of Casterly Rock.
