She shrugged. "I don't begrudge those who have their freedom the use of it."
She drained her glass again, then looked down into its empty depths. "Would you like to leave, then?" She asked, looking up at him sweetly.

Sergio laughed, "It was hardly a wonderful book. There are much more interesting stories. I have a particular fondness for Lady Delina's series. Those are romances about a young woman of Bravoos who rose up to rule from the shadows." He admired Vira once, and added, "I would love to read you some of those stories." "You should, then," Vira said playfully. "I'm sure Lady Elseyris knows them all, but my lady, you would be most welcome to join us. When I'm back from the hunt of Beatrix of the Briar." "I do love a good story. Especially ones with at lots of good duels and a smouldering romance," said Elsey, cheerfully. When Sergio asked about what the King did with prisoners, Elsey stiffened, not sure whether or not to answer.

She asked, looking up at him sweetly. Maekar's smile was the picture of charm. "Perhaps we might seal away for a short time," he replied, if a voice that was just barely loud enough to be heard, "though I must be back before the bedding, or else the groom may be offended."

When Sergio asked about what the King did with prisoners, Elsey stiffened, not sure whether or not to answer. Vira saw Elseyris' face, and changed the subject. "Isn't it time for the newlyweds to enjoy their bedding ceremony?" she asked. "Do the highborn do that? I fondly recall the ribald beddings in our village." "They do, and I'm sure we'll be notified," Elsey replied, shifting uncomfortably, glancing around. "It's not something I feel compelled towards, personally. It seems to me that it would be terribly off-putting to be observed in such an intimate act."

Visenya took Maekar's hand, twining her fingers in his and scanning the room to be sure her mother was not watching. "Where will we go? Do you know a place?"

"What a sweet, shy maid you are," Vira teased. "Do you mean to tell me you would not wish your handsome, strapping cousins to carry you to your bedchamber? Only those who love you, of course," she added quickly. Vira could not help but notice Maekar leave the hall with Visenya Targaryen. How much stamina does that man have? she wondered, reflecting on how she had slipped out of the hall with Maekar just before the ceremonies had started.     "Those are just about the last people I want carrying me to my bedchamber," said Elsey, though, in her mind was the secret addendum; with one exception. "If I cannot be taken to bed in privacy by the man that I love on my wedding night, I would sooner not marry at all."

Lord Reyne had been drinking wine with his usual group of huntsmen. Now the Westermen were starting to grow slightly rowdy and they urged their master to speak up. Lord Reyne thus stepped onto a chair. "To bed with them!" He cried. "To bed with them!"
On the other side of the room, Arwyn blushed deeply and hurriedly downed her wine.

"Perhaps I would, yes. It sounds like a freer life," Elsey said to Vira, feeling awkward.
"I can't say I've ever had an interest in Baelon, but don't let me stop you from enjoying yourself."
Elsey smiled congenially at Vira, but it was clear in her eyes that she was deeply uncomfortable.

After about ten or fifteen minutes, just as calls were going up for the bedding to begin, Maekar stepped back into the Hall, and grabbed a glass of wine from a servant. He stepped into the crowd of men and women calling for the bride and groom to be bedded, though he did not join in the cheers himself.

Visenya returned a moment after, seeming displaced for a moment as she reentered to shouts of "Bed them, bed them!". She considered following Maekar, but instead sought out her sister, who to her disappointment, was with the peasant whore. She adjusted her skirts conspicuously, looking down her nose at the other woman, before grinning at Elseyris. "Isn't this exciting?"

After some time to herself, Rhaena took a step back towards the wall, not out of social anxiety then, but she had no desire to undress and send to bed some randomer. Especially a randomer she did not find attractive.

"In truth, Visenya, I am embarrassed for them. Why do people like doing this?"

"Because it's fun! When else is it acceptable to shout and strip the clothes from your friends and relatives?" She laughed merrily. She was pleasantly drunk, and the wine only amplified her amusement.

Vira thought it was bizarre that the noblewomen seemed reluctant, and even shocked by, something that had been a custom in Westeros for hundreds of years. She had thought they would consider the bedding ceremony as natural and normal as the vows. She gave Visenya a sweet smile as the girl returned, apparently not noticing her coldness. "Forgive me, Vira. You were not to know that I am not fond of the Valyrian customs, despite being raised in them. You must think me a terrible prude."

After her conversation with Taena had winded down, Dany made her way to the table at the side of the room and picked up a goblet of watered wine, not too fond of this particular Andal tradition.

"I didn't know you were so eager to strip Baelon, sister," snorted Elsey, allowing herself some amusement at Visenya's drunken swaying and giggling.

Baelon finished his glass of wine and rose from his seat next to Arwyn. "Well get the fuck over here, ladies!" He shouted. "I seem far too clothed to bed my lady wife!"

"I'm not eager to put him in my bed, but throwing him in, naked, with his blushing bride will be most amusing!" She laughed, and turned to Vira, deciding that she might as well be nice, even if the woman was below her level. "Elsey is no maid, dear, no matter how loath she seems to see men unclothed," she said offhandedly.
She looked toward Baelons, who seemed quite eager to have all the ladies hands in his body and grinned. "Vira, shall we show my sister how it is done?" She hurried after Vira, not be outdone.

Baelon let Vira begin to lead him away, whispering as soon as they put some distance with Arwyn between them, "Oh, good. Couldn't think of a better choice to prepare me."

Taena was striding over to Baelon, eyes sparkling with mischief. "I'll help. Dany! Come help!" She called over to her friend.
Rhaella looked to Arenya. "Well, sister, we had better help our brother, hadn't we? And I know there's nothing that will surprise you." She smiled as she headed over towards Baelon.

Visenya frowned. She couldn't understand why everyone seemed so taken with the woman when she was so very common. It put her off immensely.

Arenya approached through the crowd of the moving ladies, apparently half in the bag, and took hold of Bae's shirt and began taking it off of him.

Dany smiled at her friend, twirling the wine and drinking some before making her way over, more accompanying the party than anything else, not really bothered to swarm among the growing number of ladies around Baelon.

Meanwhile, Lord Reyne and his friends surrounded Arwyn, Ser Jaime notable among them, though his gaze lingered on another lady for a moment. They were swiftly joyed by Edmyn Arryn. Arwyn was nervous since she hadn't even spoken to most of these people but she kept a fixed smile nonetheless.
