"Being the son of a king, I imagine I know what that is like," Maekar replied dryly. "Though it seems rather presumptuous for one to name themselves 'the Fair' does it not? If I were to be so named, I should prefer to be given the moniker by a beautiful woman, or better yet, several of them."

"Fortuno, well the original one, was called the fair because every deal he struck seemed to be fair and will bargained. That is until his partner in the negation returned home to find that there was a hook in the fish still." Sergio chuckled. "Despite being a manipulative schemer he is considered one of the best Sea Lords. Maybe because of that really."

"Fair and well bargained is an admirable quality," Maekar agreed. "Or at least to appear so. And how well does your cousin, the Sealord, live up to his namesake's legacy?"

"He is not nearly so crafty. Though he is smart enough to know that and hire the very best to act in his place." Sergio replied. He bowed his head.

"My great-grandfather taught me that a strong King must be able to crush his enemies within his own fist and that he cannot ever trust another undertake that task," Maekar replied slowly. "And yet I have also come to learn that it is the wise King who knows when to delegate his authority to his capable servants. Men bow to strength, it is true, but a hand that is too heavy can never truly stabilize what has been upended."

"Your ancestor had but one solution to every problem. And his solution certainly solved many problems." Sergio replied with a smirk. "The many, varied problems of Braavos often require a more elegant solution."

"Well when one is a hammer, most problems tend to look like nails," Maekar replied with a dry chuckle. "Many problems can be solved with a hammer, but not all of them by any means. I think perhaps you are more flexible in Braavos, than we of Westeros. Your Sealord exerts far more influence abroad than one would expect from a country so small; it is a quality to be admired, and emulated in my view."

Sergio chuckled in return, "I think your land is far from being able to exert a regular influence far from home." He looked at his fingers, "A hammer is never loved and only feared. Fear is a powerful motivator, and an important tool to any ruler. With out respect though fear can cause rebellion as much as it can control."

"You are right, I suspect," Maekar replied, his voice lowering. "There is much to be done, to regain the prestige of the Iron Throne after so exhausting a conflict."
He abruptly stood up from the bar, laying some coins on it for the ale. "You have my thanks, for your time, Master Delinaal. Enjoy your evening," he added, turning and departing the tavern.
