The Laughing Mask is a tavern owned by Lord Delinaal of Braavos. As a patron enters the tavern they are given a mask to wear the entire time they are inside. The first floor is laid out like a regular tavern, just with less light, and many side alcoves for people to drink. The second floor is several small private dining rooms where discrete meetings can be arranged. The basement is by invitation only, and has already earned a debauched reputation.
The Bar is run by a Lysene man named Tokar of Lys. And his entire staff is from his native city.

Daenerys arrived at the tavern one night, well aware to whom it belonged to. She was presented a fancy mask of black and gold which went together splendidly with her golden summer dress and hair, which was tied up for the occasion. Ordering a bottle of Arbor gold, she made her way to one of the alcoves and sat down, observing the people from behind her mask.

Gryves is already present at the bar, having heard about the bars proprietor and the reputation of the establishment as having the best authentic Lysene food in the seven kingdoms. He watches as the lone woman sits down at the side alcove and approachers her. "A fine lady such as yourself should not be subject to loneliness on such a pleasant night as this."

Dany smiled at the sound of the man's voice even though he could not see it. Perhaps this was the idea of the masks in this place - to deprive people of their perceptiveness and make them more reliant on words. His accent was foreign to her ears. "Ah, but it seems I am no longer alone. Would you care to sit? I will share my Arbor gold for your story," she said.

"I would be happy to keep you company." He states taking the seat across from her. "I am a businessman from Volantis, I'm afraid my story isn't much of a story at all." He claims, "Though if you feel the need to hear it then I would be pleased to tell it to you."

"A merchant?" she inquired, waving over a servant to pour them wine. Once he had left, she picked up her goblet and twirled the wine in it. "Unless you absolutely do not want to, I would hear it, yes."

"I come from a prominent merchant family that runs out of Volantis, we deal in Valyrian relics and have come looking for anyone that would be interested in purchasing or selling such relics." Gryves states. "I figured that the home of the Targaryen dynasty might have some possible relics to their name, that they would be willing to part with."

"Sounds like a mighty profitable trade," Daenerys replied. "I wish I had any of those to trade you. Have you spoken about it to the Targaryens yet?" she inquired.

"I have been in contact with some of them, but it seems that most of the relics they have, they do not seem to be willing to part with at the moment." He says tasting the arbor gold.

"What a pity. I hope you are not too disappointed for wasting your time here," she said. "Do you at least have some good friends in the city?"

"I have only explored a few options, just because they have not been able to deliver, I do not think it has been a complete waste of time." He states, "Though I can not say that I have any friends here, yet." He says with a smile underneath his mask.

"Yet over here, one must be careful when acquiring friends," she said. "Although I probably do not have to tell you that."

Gryves nods, "It is no different then home, everyone is so embroiled into the political scheme of Volantis that they do not make room for friends."

"And then there are a few fools like myself who like to think that they differ," said Dany. "What about you, my lord?" she asked, unsure exactly how to address him. "Do you happen to have any room for friends?"

"Perhaps, I have time for traveling. So I imagine that there are a few openings available for friends and the like." He states.

"I intend to travel as well. I am actually looking to put a few of my ships to good use, but all the traders I have spoken to so far have been too high and mighty," she said regretfully.

"My family also has another business that they deal with across the sea and in eastern cities. Though as of yet there is no trade of it here in the Seven Kingdoms." Gryves states.

"Slavery," Dany said, not liking the as of yet part. "It may be customary where you are from, but.. it would never work here. The lords would not allow it," she said somewhat resolutely.
