The main and usually only way to get on the island, save for those with dragons who can land elsewhere.
Prince Aemon and his son Benjen disembark from the ship that they arrived on. Aemon's face is sullen as the memories of the last time he stepped foot on the island were vivid inside of his head. Beside him though Benjen's face was filled with excitement at the prospect of getting his very own dragon. As the two become accustomed to unmoving land they make their way towards the Dragonmont.

Following an uneventful voyage from King's Landing, Elseyris felt intense excitement at setting foot on Dragonstone for the first time. She spent some time gazing around, still incredulous at not only being there, but being there by herself. It was so close to being free, it made her heart race. She eventually gathered herself, and made her way inland, to find the sept. Despite her eagerness to see Dragonmont, and find her future dragon, she was not about to do so without asking for the blessings of the Seven.

A small ship docks at the harbor at Dragonstone. A fifteen year old boy with blonde shoulder length hair carrying a sack on his shoulder disembarks. He is well dressed indicating he is someone of at least a little importance. He looked up the imposing castle on the hill and after making an inquiry of the nearest sailor, he started walking along the main path towards the stronghold.

There are men encamped before the great keep -- both those bearing banners of the three-headed dragon others who have a more mercenary look to them. The young man is stopped by a Dragonstone guard before long. "What is your business at Dragonstone?" he called out.

"I have come to swear allegiance to King Aegon." replied the boy. "He will not know me, but he knew my father well. My grandfather Lord Kennos Celtigar of Claw Island sent me here. I have letters."

It was clear by the suspicion with which the guardsman eyed the letters that he was illiterate. The guard dipped his head subserviently, "And what is m'lord's own name?"

"Valarr..." replied the boy. He hesitated for a minute before adding. "....Targaryen."

It was doubtful the guard recognized the boy's first name, but he certainly recognized the last, and he bowed more deeply still. "Yes m'lord. His Grace will want to see you, I 'spect. If you will follow us..." The man, joined by a few more household guards, led Valarr inside and up a series of winding stairs towards the King's study.
Valarr had to wait for a short time more as the guards conferred with a steward, who conferred with the Kingsguard on duty, before Valarr was ushered in.
His Grace King Aegon II Targaryen sat behind a thick oaken desk, but he rose when Valarr entered. "I knew your father," he told Valarr. "Please. Sit." Aegon gestured to a chair opposite, then waved a servant forward, who placed a platter of salted bread and wine on the desk before Valarr.

Valarr went to kneel before Aegon, but at the King's gesture he did as he was bid and sat. He was overrawed by the close presence of the King and for a moment was tongue-tied. "Thank....thank you, Your Grace." he finally got out. "My....my father mentioned you often." He fumbled in his doublet and drew out some letters. "For you, Your Grace." he said. "From my grandfather."

Aegon took the letters and opened them, reading them closely. "He possessed a courage beyond the ordinary," Aegon said as he perused the letters, "And he was loyal until the end." That last point was particularly direly felt under present circumstances. At one point Baelor had kept his loyalty to the true king over his own brother. And he had died in Aegon's own service.

Valarr swallowed. "I am glad to hear that Your Grace. He was often away. I did not know him well."
