He bowed to her. "Well met," he murmured. "I'm a Westerling of the Crag. Have you come to petition the King, or are you in service at court?"

Yana pauses a moment thinking how to construct her reply without giving too much away about her vocation 'I have not come to petition His majesty, I met Her Majesty eariler when I arrived and at her suggestion I've come to present myself.. I am not in the employ of Kings Landing..'

"I see. Be careful, though. His Grace has an eye for a pretty face, and he's rarely content with looking," Ser Jaime warned, still whispering. "Best guard your honour well."

Yana gives a small, but entirely sadistic smile 'Thank you for the warning good Ser' She replies in a murmer 'Might I ask what brings you here?'

"I've been a member of the court for a few years," he said. "I'm part of Lord Reyne's entourage. He likes to hunt, you see, and it's deadly dull to hunt without company."

Yana ahhs 'I've never been on a proper mounted hunt.. just hung on whilst Spinel grabs something on the wing or hunted on foot alone while traveling'

"Perhaps you should join us, one day. Hunting is fun. Can you ride? It's important not to fall off your horse," he said with a laugh. "Lord Reyne is always happy to have guests, and everyone enjoys it when we have female company."

Yana smiles, rubbing her fingers on the clasp at the end of her braid, its made partly of one of spinel's smaller scales and has been highly polished 'I have never rode a horse Ser.. I doubt Spinel would approve, she'd probably eat it'

He looked at her, frowning. "Ah, I thought I had misheard you before. So you are a dragonrider. Strange, that we have had so many new dragonriders arriving at the capital. But you said you had not met the king yet. But you must be blood of the dragon, else you'd not be here," he mused.

Yana looks surprised at the comment of so many other new riders in a short time 'Why would I not be here if i wasn't 'blood of the dragon'?' Yana sounds like shes not heard the term before.

"Oh, well, your being a dragonrider changes your circumstances a great deal," Ser Jaime explained. "Or so I am led to believe. What would a - forgive me - bastard from the north want with Kings Landing if she were not kin to the King himself?" He paused, smiled at her. "But I meant that your being a dragonrider is the cause for you being here. I have never heard of a dragonrider going rogue. But that's a fortunate thing, because I doubt His Grace would take kindly to a rider who refused to make the oath of fealty."

Yana smiles 'There is nothing to forgive, I do not have any problems with being a bastard.. I cannot change how my mother concived me and I am glad to be alive, so there is no insult in my circimstances of birth' Yana looks thoughtful at his words 'I came to Kings Landing orginally following roumor of Prince Gaemon's location.. I met Her Highness in the Dragon Pit and she suggested I present myself at court and introduce myself.. so here I am.' She frowns a little 'forgive me.. but what precicely do you mean by a dragonrider going rogue? ... My last oath of feality was to House Manderly and after my agreed service time was over I was given the choice to stay or be released.. I chose to be released from my oath.. I feel very nieive for my years.. there is so little I know about this place and of the roles and such of drgaonriders as I was never taught much about it.. I only found out my fathers name on my mothers deathbed.. What I know about him and his kin is far outweighed by what i've no awareness of' Yana flushes a little in shame and embarrisment for her lack of knowledge in such courtly and dragonblood matters. 'I have heard roumor of course.. but solid facts and the reality of what thies matters mean.. ' Yana gives a wry smile 'People do not exactly go spouting such in their cups..'
Yana presents the face of an eagar to learn, but baffled by the big city, young woman, inwardly she is disconcerned and frankly revolted by the reality that she may be forced to swear something wholly binding to someone she knows nothing of because of her sires apprent bloodline bonding and her accidental, and would never wish to change, bond with Spinel.. and forced into servitude again when shes worked so hard to be able to be her own woman after her lowly, scornful birth and years of faithful service to House Manderly.

Ser Jaime smiled gently at her. "Mistress Yana, I meant only that the King would never consent to a dragonrider who was not one of his own subjects. As a northern woman of little fortune sworn to House Manderly you must surely have escaped His Grace's notice. He may not have known of your existence, since Prince Gaemon died many years ago. But a dragonrider cannot escape notice from anyone, highborn or low. House Targaryen commands the only dragons in this world. His Grace will ensure that doesn't change. I fear your fate was sealed the moment you met your Spinel. You don't have the Targaryen name, but you are one of them, now and forever."
He broke off his solemn tone to grin.
"At least you do have the dragon. There are a few Targaryens who are not so fortunate."

Yana gives a soft sigh 'It appears that I had best hope that His Majesty is in a mild mood..' She smiles in return to his grin then ask in a concerned but curious tone 'I would have thought that one such as he would make sure that his offspring had the chance to see all the dragons to have the best chance to create a bond since legend says that they supposedly have a magic over the.. ahem.. beasts..' She says the last in a tone that suggests she does not approve of dragons being seen as beasts.
'I think i had best concider some way that I might be useful to Their Majestys.. since I do not think they will take it lightly that i've been bound for four years..' she admits the last quiet enough that Ser Jamie would just hear her words if he strained to.
Returning to the more normal hushed tones they are using she says 'What of theose that might not be of dragons blood or do not know they are and become bound to their beloved? Unless Their Highnesses have some way to track all the dragons and riders there is no way to tell if theres others out there that do not know of this ruling'

"I don't know the answer to that," Ser Jaime answered. "I have never been to Dragonstone. But it's not so far from Kings Landing, and I'm sure a dragon makes the journey a great deal shorter. It would be easy for the King and Queen to travel there, if they were concerned. By tradition the heir to the throne has his seat at Dragonstone. Perhaps that's one way to keep an eye on new dragonriders. Truth be told, as long as a would be dragonrider can actually get to the island, I'm not sure there's much of a deterrent, except the dragons themselves. There's always the risk the dragon will burn the person trying to ride them."

Yana looks thoughtful 'Can dragons not fly... and thus go where they please if unbound? It sounds like really there is no way of truely says who and when and where they might be or go'
Yana gives a mischivious smile.'Well.. to more interesting matters.. would you recommend any perticular lodgings in the city? and what do the courtiers find to spend all day muttering to each other about? Seems like there should be more pressings things to be done than gossip like washerwomen'

"The court is full of gossip," he said. "That's the way of it. Mostly it's clothes or lovers or how to get one over your rivals. As for lodgings, you might try Alina's, unless you mean to ask for lodgings in the Red Keep itself."

"Hopefully it won't be long now," he asid. "But I know others in your situation have been granted rooms in the castle, so it's possible you might be. Just remember, the king has a fondness for young women."

Hmm.. perhaps.. Yana thinks, formulating a few options for how she can try to handle her audiance when shes called

Eventually she is ushered forward before the colossal Iron Throne, which in the afternoon sun casts a long shadow over the White Knights of the Kingsguard that stand between the petitioners and His Grace. King Maegor II sits atop the grim tower of twisted metal, violet eyes staring down at Yana as his fingers absentmindedly played an inverse form of five finger fillet with one of the razor sharp barbs that jutted out form the arm rest.

Yana eyes widen a bit at the image the King makes and the sheer size of the throne. She bows in a respectful manner.
Steeling her nerve she says 'Greetings Your Majesty.. I arrived in Kings Landing today and after meeting Her Majesty in the Dragon Pit it was strongly suggested that I present myself to you.. I am Yana Snow, from White Harbour, formerly in the bound employ of House Manderly in an ..advisary role..' Yana puts a hint of quiet emphisis on 'advisory' implying that she did not quite advise in the manner the word might usually be taken.
'I have been looking for Prince Gaemon.. the roumers led me here.. but I found out only in the last few hours that he died some time ago'
Yana looks a little nervous although shes hiding her fear and distaste of his decree of oathing riders well. 'I should also tell Your Majesty that I am bound to the shadow-like coloured dragon Spinel..'

Maegor listened to the information with impassive eyes, his only reaction a raised eyebrow at the mention of already bonding with a dragon, though his fingers nimbly continued dancing around the jagged edge without faltering.
"Prince Gaemon was slain by Ser Hector the Dragonbane some time ago." he replied, after a long silence. "What business did you have with him?"

Yana looks slightly sad, but only in a that she never got to meet him manner 'My mother warmed his bed when he was visiting' Yana smiles a little 'I have been trying to trace my sires family since I was released from my sercive oath to House Manderly.. I do not wish anything of them.. just to meet them if they will allow it and well.. see whom else I am related to through my sire as my mother had no other family and I would like to stress that I have no desire or aims to anything more of them. I am a common bastard and quite happy being so, I have no claim to anything bar my skills and my dragon.'

"If you have managed to tame a dragon, it is without contest that you are of Targaryen blood." His Grace intoned, inspecting the young woman intently. "Your dragon's blood may be watered down by Andal stock, but you are still closer to god than man."
"Apartments will be set aside for your use in these halls, Lady Yana Snow. You may be a bastard, but you are far from common."
