A Volantene trading vessel eased it's way into the docks. When it was safely harboured, Sarena Vani'ani glided down the gangway and set foot in Westeros for the first time. Her head moved from side to side as she took in the new city with fascination, though her milky-white eyes saw nothing. Two large guardsmen followed down after her, carrying a large chest of her belongings each. They took up a position at either side of her, and together the trio headed towards the castle.

After 6 weeks aboard a ship out of Oldtown, Elseyris was deeply glad to set foot on land again. She had coped passably with sea travel, but had no desire to repeat it any time soon. Although her injuries were now significantly healed, the journey had felt to her like crushing boredom, interspersed with horrific nightmares, and with the only other option being drowning. She joined the swath of other soldiers in the march towards the Red Keep.

A week after the Velaryon fleet arrived at King's Landing to drop off the survivors, Daenerys made her way to the docks, having sent out a messenger days ago to keep the flagship and a few others in the city so she could eventually inspect them. The others she had ordered to return to Driftmark with what little goods they managed to bring from Oltown, and trade at King's Landing. Having put this visit off for seven days, Dany finally boarded her father's ship. She was wearing black trousers and a white silk shirt, her sword fastened by her belt, well aware that once aboard a ship, the game changed remarkably, and a dress would not create the desired effect. What threw her off about this was the fact that her father had died on this vessel.
She left her two household guards at the railing, but did not feel like entering her father's cabins. "Fetch me the commander of this ship. Tell him Lady Velaryon is here to speak with him," she said to a nearby deckhand, her face slightly paler than usual, but determined.

Ser Willem Sunglass arrived. He was a tired looking man who looked at Dany with a grief stricken expression. "My lady," he said, bowing to her. "How can I serve you?"

"Ser Willem," Dany greeted with the hint of a smile, relieved it was someone she was at least acquainted with. For all she knew, the queen might have appointed someone else entirely. "I am here to take up the command of this fleet, now that my father is.. gone," she began, looking to the side briefly to take a deep breath in order to calm herself. "From what I heard, father captured eight ships before he died? Nine? I would like you to enlighten me on the general state of this fleet, as well as the goods taken from Oldtown."

"We took little spoils, my lady," he admitted. "The army had already taken most of it before we arrived, I'm told. The fleet is as well as can be expected, and some remain at Sun House while they are being repaired. No doubt they will be allow soon enough, bringing the king's brother Baelon Waters and his injured dragon back to the capital. We were lucky not to lose more men to Redwyne."

Dany nodded, having expected as much. "Did this Baelon's own ship sink in the battle, then?" she asked, feeling like the king's bastard brother had one, or so she might have heard. "I am as sorry for the losses as you, Ser. And all this for what?" It occurred to her that she had not heard of the peace terms. "Do you know what Prince Aegon and Lord Redwyne agreed on?"

"Captain Waters fought on dragonback so his ship was not present in the battle. As to the peace, Lord Redwyne is to be Master of Ships in place of your father, gods rest his soul. Lord Redwyne's granddaughter is to wed Prince Aemon's son, who is now heir to Oldtown."

"I see," said Daenerys as her hands formed into fists, accompanied by a slight flush on her cheeks. Her tone remained calm, however. "The gods certainly have a warped sense of humour."
Although she had initially thought of taking over her father's ship, perhaps rename and repaint it, being aboard it made her sad and uneasy. "Are there any other ships in this fleet that could serve as a flagship?"

"Several of the larger ships might serve. There is the Sea Dragon, Conqueror, the Lady Myrcella. Any one of those would be suitable."

Dany thought for a while, familiar with most of them. "Out of the three, which one is the swiftest? How many decks?" she inquired.

"Sea Dragon has the most decks, and is the swiftest," he said. "A great vessel, you may be sure of that."

After a moment of consideration, Dany decided it would serve. "Sea Dragon sounds perfect. I would have it renamed, however. To Silver Storm. Would you arrange that for me? As for this ship here.. its captaincy is all yours, should you want it."

"It will be done," he vowed. "And my thanks, my lady. You are most kind. May I offer my best wishes?"

Daenerys offered the man a small smile. "Thank you. Is there anything else I should be aware of before I depart? If not, I wish you a swift journey home."

"I can think of nothing, my lady. Only that your father was given an honourable funeral pyre as was his right. Do you wish me to carry a message to your lady mother?"

"You can tell her I will come home soon enough," said Dany somewhat sadly, knowing that her father would have preferred to be sent to the sea like a Velaryon instead of being fed to the flames on a pyre like a Targaryen. "There are some things here in the city I need to take care of first. Farewell, Ser Willem." She turned and left.

Ser Willem sailed for Driftmark the following day, bearing the sad news to Lady Myrcella.

Baelon arrived by sea, his soon-to-be wife and goodsisters in tow. Seaskimmer circled above the ship, happy to take to the skies again after mostly healing from his injury.
"Well, ladies, this is it." He told Arwyn and her sisters as they pulled in to port. "The cesspool that is King's Landing. I did miss it a bit."

The youngest girl giggle because Baelon said cesspool in front of her. Arwyn, however, simply smiled, her gaze eager and nervous. "They say the Red Keep is magnificent," Arwyn said. "Shall we go straight there? I am worried about meeting the king, though."

"I doubt we'll be meeting with him right away. And you did just fine with the Queen. She's the scarier one." Baelon replied. He ordered one of his men to find a carriage for hire to meet them on the end of the docks. "And yes, we'll head there and find our rooms. I could do with a bath."

"Yes, me too." Arwyn turned to warn her sisters to be on their best behaviour at court. "So what happens then? After we've bathed. I am a little nervous, Baelon. I am not used to any castle but home, and the queen is the grandest lady I ever met. I thought all the ladies would be grand at court. I shall look such a country bumpkin."

"Arwyn, you are the Lady of a significant keep, and about to marry royalty, even if I am just a bastard royal," Baelon told her as they walked down the pier, "You're every bit as good as those at court. Better. Most of the ladies here have done nothing of their own and only married a rich man and squirted out a few whining lordlings. You, meanwhile, have ruled outright and been head of your house since your father died."
