A grey dragon appeared in the sky to the east of Pyke, bearing Baelon Waters to treat with the Greyjoys. He circled the keep three times, before landing a distance away from the main gates. Baelon dismounted Seaskimmer and began walking toward the gatehouse. Seaskimmer waited patiently for him, a ways off from the road.
When he game within earshot of the gate, Baelon called to the guards, "I am Baelon Waters, brother to King Maegor II! I come to treat with the Lord Reaper of Pyke, in the name of His Grace!"

There is a long wait before the iron portcullis slowly raises, those within likely having spent a considerable amount of time discussing the dragon that had just landed on their shores.

Baelon walked slowly inside, intending to make the guards wait a bit in exchange for his own wait.
"Inform Lord Greyjoy that an emissary of the King has arrived," He told the first person that he saw, "I would meet with him at his convenience."

Baelon is escorted across the covered stone walkway that connects the gatehouse to the great keep. Upon a dais in the main hall sits the Seastone Chair, made of a block of oily black stone carved into the shape of a kraken. Upon it sits Lord Harlan Greyjoy, his expression a queer mix of defiance and trepidation.
"I was assured that if our tithes were paid of time and ships did not disrupt royal trade, I would not see another dragon on my shores." he seethed. "So tell me, to what do I owe this...honor?"

Baelon gave a short bow as he approached the dais.
"Lord Greyjoy, I come merely to offer you an opportunity. If you would rather see me off, only say so and I will fly back to Lannisport. But I was under the impression that the Ironborn were not the sort to shrink from a little bloodshed."

"We do not shrink from it." Lord Harlan replied, fingers curling around the shaft of his mace. It was wrought of iron, blackened by the salt, topped with a kraken whose tentacles formed the flanges of the weapon. "When we have something to gain by shedding it."

"And reaving the coastline held by the Faith Militant? Surely there is some profit in that."

"Last I checked, they only hold the Arbor and Oldtown now." Harlan replied. "I am not foolhardy enough to send my remaining longships against the warships of the Redwyne Fleet."

"Of course you aren't, and King Maegor would not be foolish enough to ask you to do so alone. There will be support, both ships and dragons. This is to be the final nail in the Faith Militant's coffin, Lord Greyjoy. I figured your men would be quite interested in plundering the Arbor, not to mention one of the richest cities in Westeros."

"I've lived through all the years of this war." Harlan reminded, with clear skepticism. "There have been many 'final nails' in the Faith's coffin. Yet they persist...like some disease."

"Indeed. Which is why we thought it best to seek the aid of the people most experienced in dealing with the disease that is the Andals and their faith." Baelon replied fiercely.

"Then one of your daughters shall be free to marry one of the king's male relations, and the houses Greyjoy and Targaryen shall be bound by blood forevermore," Baelon explained, "which daughter and which Targaryen may be specified now, or later, as you prefer."

Baelon shook his head. "The crown prince will be wedded to one of our own blood, as is our custom. But the king has a bevy of other relations, fine matches all."

"Perhaps you would have a recommendation then?" Harlan prodded, a flash of annoyance on his face. "We cannot be expected to familiarize ourselves with every greenlander."

"Well, let me see. There is the King's nephew, Benjen, son of Aemon, the King's Justice. Valarr, Prince Maelys's son (Both of those would need a few years before they were old enough). The king's cousins, Baelor and Aerion, brothers to the late Lord Aenar. And of course there is myself, natural brother to the king."

"Which have dragons?" Harlan asked, that element clearly more important to him than ties of marriage to the Crown. "Besides yourself of course. I will not marry one of my kin to a bastard."

Baelon did not let his anger rise at the comment - he was plenty used to such things. "Baelor rides Vriskaranea. Aerion rides Servys. And it comes to me that I had also forgotten Rhaegar, Aenar's son, now a man of seventeen or so. He rides Vermax."

"Tell me of the dragons." the old reaver asked, with a tone similar to a spoiled child asking about his Name Day gift. Which is largest?"

"Servys, by far." Baelon answered. "The spawn of Balerion and Meraxes. A great red beast, more than three score years in age. One of the fiercest dragons living."
