The room of Rhaena Targaryen. The room was fairly large, and looked spacious despite the fair amount of furniture. Not what most people would expect of her, rather than the Targaryen colours of red and black the rooms over arching colour was a deep purple, the bed having blankets and drapes in deep royal purple with the curtains matching.
Candles were on most of the surfaces of the room, more so than would be needed to light it, made of either purple or black wax, partly because Rhaena enjoyed looking at fire, partly as an excuse for lighting the room on fire if she needed one.
Along a whole wall were several trunks, some containing dresses brought for her by her mother and the odd one she had chosen herself, but the majority of them contained the clothes she chose to wear herself, which took up a lot less room.
In the room there was a bed, desk, a wooden chair, a couple of more comfortable chairs for the rare occasion she was in and someone wished to see her, a wash basin, and the aforementioned trunks. Rhaena didn't have her own solar, hard done by as she was.

The evening of the party, after it had died down and she had seen her mother and Valarr, Rhaena sent word that if her grandmother was available to talk to her, and requested she come to her rooms, and she knew Laena's companions shared hers with her.
She hoped she would be able to, despite the late hour.

Laena came after a short wait. Her hair, rarely seen out of its bun, was now loose, and she wore a long robe that covered her from throat to feet, indicating that she had been getting ready for bed when the message came. But she greeted Rhaena with the briefest of hugs and a smile. Laena was not particularly demonstrative.
"Is something wrong, child? I was quite worried when I got your message at this late hour."

Rhaena returned the hug and walked to the door to close it properly, before turning and facing her grandmother "No.. yes." she said, and then sighed, her shoulders visably slumping, "I do not know, potentially."
She took a look at her grandmother and closed her eyes, leaning against the door. "Does it bother you? Grandmother, what people say about you?"

"Not now." Laena's face was solemn. "It did when I was younger, but not now. I am what I was meant to be. I know full well I need only speak to your father if I need a particular man dead if one tries to harm me. As for the rest, words are wind. Truth be told, I revel in it. it is good to be feared, Rhaena. Your mother wants to be loved, which is why she sent so many men to the Wall when she might have seen them executed. But I do not have that weakness. Fear is better than love."

"Is there truth in what they say, or is it just heresay?" Rhaena asked, nodding as Laena spoke, she had never asked before, not wanting to know for certain. She had always hoped that it was, but it also gave her a fair amount of dread.

"Some," Laena replied. "I am sure you will forgive me for not blurting out my life story in a night. Some things are best left to the imagination, my dear."

"I was just interested," she said, not liking her Grandmother diverting and not telling her, "I don't suppose you know if people say anything about me, I don't listen to gossip,"

"Your reputation is quite clean, I assure you." Laena was utterly straight-faced so Rhaena believed her. "You are spoken of most highly at court. The worst your mother says of you is that you do not dress prettily often enough, And your father, well, you know how he is. Most sparing with his praise."
The Dowager smiled a little.
"But we should never forget that the Red Keep has eyes and ears. I certainly do not. One day perhaps I may speak more freely to you. But not in the Red Keep."

"It's not you that I was asking about particularly, more as to whether we had things in common or not," from the way she was talking, Rhaena didn't think the dowager knew about her occasional burst of... whatever it was, which was relieved for. That didn't mean no one knew. She had always wondered if she could tell her grandmother, she didn't want people to treat her the way she had heard her grandmother being treated, it was something that weighed heavily on her mind, it was the sole reason she had not tried to manage her gifts, because the more they were used to more it likely it would be that someone found out about them, "but it doesn't matter, my mind is at ease now," to a degree at least.

"Good." Laena patted her on the shoulder. "If you are worried I can prepare a draught to help you sleep? I am sure my past is not something that keeps you awake at night. Though I wonder what you mean about us having things in common."

"It doesn't matter, just things, pertaining to other things. Trajan said something that made me wonder about certain... things." she didn't want to say, but it was hard not to, she was very tempted to just come clean.
"If I tell you something, can you promise me it wouldstay between the two of us?"

"Of course. I prefer it that way myself. I will keep your secrets, Rhaena, I promise. I hope my grandson has not been upsetting you?"

"Not at all, I assure you," She said, and looked around, as if someone could be listening.
"Have you ever noticed anything odd about me, grandmother, maybe from when I was younger?" she knew she did a less good job of hiding herself when she was younger, and didn't know it could be a bad thing. It had been seeing the treatment of Laena that made her want to keep the magic a secret in the first place.

"Of course I did. I am not a fool, Rhaena. Nor am I blind. I know you have certain...pecularities but they have not held you back in any way. I thought it best to let you live your life as normal. Was I mistaken?"

"No, not at all, I just wanted to know if everyone at court knew about them," she replied, surprised by how much lighter she felt that Laena knew, "I sometimes thing life would be easier if I could control them, then I might not have to control me all the time," she admitted honestly, she had a very hard time keeping her emotions in check.

"It would be easier, certainly. I only know of one thing that could calm you and that would be to do you no real favours in the long term. So I fear you must learn to live with your situation, or else find a way to control it." Laena spoke matter-of-factly but she was not umsympathetic. "I doubt the entire court knows. Those close to you, maybe. Certainly your parents."

"They know?" Rheana asked and physically twitched, she didn't like the idea of them knowing, "Why have they never mentioned anything?"

"I said they shouldn't treat you differently to your siblings, that it was best you learn these things in your own time. I think I know rather more than they do about such matters. I would be happy to teach you, should you find a way to control your abilities."

"Can you not help me learn how to control it?" she asked, just not practising it was what she had assumed was why she had a hard time controlling it. She was also rather annoyed no one had told her they knew. "Does Trajan know?"

"If he does, it was not from me," Laena replied. "But I would be surprised if he did. I might be able to help you, perhaps, but it must be your own choice. I am determined not to force the matter upon you."

"It's the gods who have forced the matter on me," Rhaena said, voice back to it's usual level nature after some time of uncharacteristic moping, "I do not want to burn down another room, it was bad enough at dragonstone, what if a member of our family..." she trailed off, not really wanting to think about it, "I cannot do anything about it until after this war is over, which will hopefully be soon."

"Yes. We will speak again on the matter," Laena promised. "But not yet. But next time you find yourself experiencing an...incident, see if you can stop it happening. That would be of use. You need to bend it to your will, somehow."

"That's the problem, Grandmother, I do try, and I can't," she said with a sigh, but knew nothing could be done over night, "But I shall see what I can do, if it happens, Thank you for your help, you've put my mind at ease and given me plenty to think about at the same time."

"Yes. I will think about it and see what I can do to help you when you come back," Laena promised. "I will try to find some books that will be of use. Be careful."
And Laena gave Rhaena a very quick hug.
