Gendry's eyes widened. "Didn't know that. We'll learn, but only for you," he said, and Rosey nodded her agreement. "I want to be a knight," he added hopefully.

Kesi smiled. "Thank you jariri." She said. "I am knowing that you are wanting to be a knight, I have been and seen the Kingsguard commander to see what you are needing to do."
She stroked Rosey's hair back. "Are you being alright?" She asked her.

Rosey coughed and nodded. Kesi realised that the girl was going to need more care and probably a stronger potion if she was to survive. "Thank you," the girl said in a raspy voice. "Look after Gendry."
Gendry, not realising the solemnity of the situation, asked "What's a Kingsguard?"

"White cloaks." Kesi answered, going to make the potion stronger.
She put in some more crushed herbs and returned to Rosey. "Always." She whispered to the girl, and continued to stroke her hair. "I will always be doing what I can for him."

But Gendry was too young to know about the Kingsguard and what the white cloaks meant, and e had never seen one in Flea Bottom. He said "I want a red cloak. I saw a man in a red cloak once."
Rosey said "I think I'm dying. Have been for weeks. But Gendry won't believe it, says you'll save me."

"Rosey I am trying to be saving you. I will try my hardest until whatever end. I may be having to do something that you might not be liking."
She seemed thoughtful for a moment.
"If you are letting me try."

Rosey's face was pale as she stared up at Kesi, uncomprehending.
"You saved us from the streets. I trust you. So long as it will not upset Gendry."

"We will be keeping it from him." Kesi whispered.
"Tonight I think is being a good night."

Rosey nodded. "Do what you need to, m'lady. I won't complain."
Gendry was humming a tune Kesi hadn't heard before and seemed not to have noticed the conversation, or else he wasn't interested in it.

Kesi smiled, made her drink the stronger potion then went to Gendry.
"White cloaks are being the best knights in the world jariri." She said to him. "They are the guard of King."

"I heard king has a dragon. Why's he need knights too?" Gendry asked. "I saw a dragon when I looked out the window. A little blue one. I was scared it would fly in the window and eat me."

"Dragon is not always being with King when he is in trouble, if he is having dragon then why is he needing any knight at all?" She asked, sitting down and pulling a book towards her. "No dragon will be coming in here, well none that are having wings anyway. You are quite safe now."

Gendry was too young to understand about dragon symbolism. "There's dragons without wings? Ain't they just snakes with legs?"

"That is being dangerous to say jariri." Kesi said, but she gave a small smile. "I was referring to the royal family, go to window and tell me what you are seeing on the banners."

He went to the window. "It's a dragon. It has three heads," he said in wonder. "But the one I saw was blue, not red, and it had only one head."
He looked at her in confusion. "Is that what the king's dragon looks like? The picture, I mean?"

"I have not seen the King's dragon." Kesi answered, copying something from the book to paper. "I am not a fan of the creatures. King's blood are being called dragon because of having that flag, the same as rivermen being fish and gold men being lion. Real dragons are only having one head, the three are being for the King and sisters that were once claiming land."

Gendry didn't really understand but he nodded as if he did. "So what animal are you?" He asked. "Which am I?"

"I am not having an animal." Kesi answered. "I am not being from the same place. Maybe you, /////rosey and I can be choosing an animal just for us three one day."

Brandon gave a single loud rap at the door to announce his presence.

Kesi snapped her book shut and went to the door. She gave a small smile when she saw the white knight.
"Be coming in, please." She said, opening it and stepping back to allow entry.

He stepped inside, and scanned all corners of the room, as was his cautious, some might say paranoid, tendency.
"Thank you," he said.

Kesi's chamber was a bare as it ever was, save the boy sat at the table and the girl in her bed.
"You are wanting drink?" She asked.

Gendry looked up at Brandon. "Are you the king?" He asked. "Do you have a dragon?"

Kesi chuckled, and ruffled the boys hair.
"No, jariri." She said gently. "This is knight I told you about, the one that is protecting King when he is being away from his dragon."

"This is your son?" Brandoned asked, zeroing in on Gendry and staring at him hard.
