"I have heard a troubling rumour that one of the Knights Inquisitor had murdered a small council member," Elsey said, fiddling uneasily with the cuff of her shirt. "Do you know if there is any truth in it?"

"I could not say," Ser clarence replied. "I am not in the confidence of those at court. I am sorry, my lady."

"I understand," Elsey nodded solemnly.
"Do you wish a response the the letter sent, Ser?"

"I will have to send my commiserations to Her Grace the Queen, but that is all that may be done. Last I heard, the Prince was leaving Kings Landing for the east so I may not even send my respects to the new King. There is nothing else to do beyond sending word to Her Grace," he sighed.

"Yes, he embarked on a tour of the East a while ago," Elsey replied, a twinge of sadness in her voice.
"I could take a message to him."

"Oh? Do you know where he was heading?" Ser Clarence asked. "I am afraid I do not know the specific destinations."

"I do, yes," Elseyris nodded. "My dragon's saddle will be finished soon, I can leave immediately once that is ready. Even with a few days' delay, I believe I can still find Aegon faster than a raven."

"Of course. I doubt we have any ravens fit to fly to Essos. That would be very good of you, my lady. May the Crone guide you and the Warrior keep you safe." He put a gentle hand on her shoulder. "I hope you can bring our king home safely."

Elsey smiled at him earnestly;
"I will do all that is in my power, Ser, with the Seven's help," she said softly, but with determination.
"Is there anything else you would have of me, Ser? I would like to begin making preparations, and visit the Sept."

Two knights of the Kingsguard reach Dragonstone, their white attire dirty from hours spent on shipboard. It is plain they have made a hasty retreat from Kings Landing. Ser Olyvar Webber and Ser Derryk Moore both look bone weary. They immediately ask to see the king, or, failing that, the Lord Commander.

Brandon has them brought to him immediately. He watched them for a moment, letting them collect themselves before speaking.

Ser Derryk, the younger, was so tired he swayed slightly on his feet. HE looked up at his commander. "My lord, Ser Moryn and Ser Symon were last to see the King alive. King Maegor, I mean. Then the woman was called to visit him, and after that he was dead. But now both of them are lost as well."
Ser Olyvar, was grim-faced. "Lord Commander, we fled Kings Landing after the bastard Maekar slew Her Grace the Queen. Ser Jon swore fealty to Maekar, who rewarded him by making him Lord Commander of His Kingsguard, but the rest of us fled. We lost Ser Moryn when we had to separate in the streets. I don't know what happened to him. But we were lying low at the harbour, waiting to board a ship, when we heard that Ser Symon had been taken by Maekar's men. They will probably put him to death."

Aegon approached the conversation early enough to hear the report. He watched them grimly. "Ser Derryk. Ser Olyvar. What became of the Small Council? Have they bent their knees to my bastard brother?"

"Lords Reyne and Redwyne have done so," Ser Olyvar replied. "And the Grand Maester is duty bound to serve whoever sits the Iron Throne. But Lord Darklyn was executed some time ago, and never replaced, and Lord Harroway fled the capital after Queen Rhaella's death. She named him Hand, Your Grace, because she could not leave the realm untended while she fought Lord Maekar. But Lord Harroway lacked the courage to stay in Kings Landing with Her Grace dead."

The same, it seemed, could be said for the white knights. Aegon knew they must have suffered hardship to reach him, but a better gift would have been one sword through the chest of Maekar and one through the chest of Ser Jon. "Lord Harroway has ever lacked courage," Aegon replied. "But you have done well to reach me. You must be hungry," Aegon waved his hand, and servants appeared with food.

Ser Derryk, younger and less tactful, thanked Aegon hurriedly and pounced on the food. Ser Olyvar was more restrained, despite his hunger.
"Your Grace is too kind. It was our duty to reach our rightful king. Her Grace your mother would have wished it so." He wisely said nothing of Maegor's preferences. "We are yours to command." He reached for the wine.

OOC - I answered your query in this post from earlier: Ser Derryk, the younger, was so tired he swayed slightly on his feet. HE looked up at his commander. "My lord, Ser Moryn and Ser Symon were last to see the King alive. King Maegor, I mean. Then the woman was called to visit him, and after that he was dead. But now both of them are lost as well." Ser Olyvar, was grim-faced. "Lord Commander, we fled Kings Landing after the bastard Maekar slew Her Grace the Queen. "You will put yourself at Ser Brandon's disposal and resume your duties protecting the king immediately," Aegon replied. "You will be short handed until worthy men are found to join your ranks, but I expect an even greater vigilance during these times."

After arriving, Rhaena enters alone into the great hall, and inclines her head to her husband.
"Your grace," She said, face an impassive mask.

Aegon watched her approach. "You have been gone longer than I expected," Aegon said in a very measured tone of voice, "You return with two dragon riders, but not the two I sent you to find. And I am told those you left with are no longer among your number." There was no actual question there, but clearly there was an implied one -- what the hell has been going on?

"Your concern for the long absence of your wife is touching, Your grace," Rhaena replied in a measured tone as well, keeping her eyes trained on the King. She did not like being questioned in front of the whole court.
"Perhaps we should talk in private."

Aegon looked across the room for a moment, noticing the eyes upon them. "Perhaps we should," he said after a moment, stepping down from his chair. He paused to clap the Lord Commander on the shoulder and say something softly to him, then had Ser Olyvar Webber fall in behind his king. He offered his arm to Rhaena as she approached, then left the room.

///// Arenya stormed into the room, Penance with her, blade down hanging behind her back. "To arms",she yelled at the guards, "Your Lord, your King has been murdered!!!"
She looked at them, "…. And it was his Queen who did the deed. If you were ever loyal Aegon you will follow me to avenge him."
