Sounds like the kind of environment when my character concept would thrive. Perfect.

Any room for a swordsman? I had a thought of making my character skilled in sword fighting and being stuck in the past, the future making his skills obsolete, and all the drama of dealing with practicing a dying art.

I will be VERY surprised and disappointed if its not Jinora.
There. I have placed peer pressure on you.
Now it HAS to be Jinora.

What do you guys think of sandbending? Like using earthbending for corroding rock into a loose state and primarily using it as your art of choice, hardening stuff into solid rock to block things, encasing people in compacting sand, rapidly grinding stuff with it, that sort of deal.

Well since sand bending is canon yet hasn't really been delved into that deeply with what can be done in regards of practical use rather then for a sand sailor. I can't see why we wouldn't allow it with more practical uses.

Are the spirit portals going to be open here or we just going to disregard that whole harmonic convergence thing?

Is one of my potential bounties John Connor?
Just realized a metalbending bounty hunter is basically the T1000.

I'm silent per here but I'm still very very very interested...
Was thorn between water and earth, but I had quite a nice idea for a Fire Nation's Crown Prince.

Yeah they've shown it a few times in season 3, the most notable being when Su makes a blade sprout from a metal bracelet on her wrist.

Stuff I ponder.
*Remember plantbending? I keep thinking, what if the Avatar is born into a nontypical culture? Would the White Lotus be utterly confused when a waterbending avatar ends up in Foggy Swamp, or what if an Earhbender grows up in a sandbending commune? How do you find these people? *What if the Avatar is some hermit living on an island noone's heard of? Do you know how many earthbenders and firebenders there are? *What if he dies young, and the White Lotus are now looking for the wrong Avatar? *Does the Avatar NEED to follow the cycle of elements? If there are no Airbenders, does Raava just skip to Waterbending? *Does the Avatar possess their abilities because Wan did, or it because they're essentially possessed by God? If Unalaq had lived long enough, could he have just learned other elements? *How many other elements exist? Where'd that soulbending lionturtle get off to? Where did ANY of them go? *Do you ever think maybe Amon was right, since we never see any nonbending villains? (Hiroshi Sato only sort of counts, since he was following Amon) *Where are the bender supremacists? We have Equalists, but not the reverse? *Were the Air Nomads the ONLY Airbending tradition? The other three have variants, why not Airbending? *What the hell were the White Lotus doing for a hundred years? Seriously, they could not know Aang was in an iceberg, so what did they DO with themselves?

1. Poison is typically injested, whereas venom has to be put into the blood stream. So that should answer your question.
2. That was a shocking number of "bitches" you just threw out. Would water arm lady and combustion woman not have worked.
3. You don't execute a downed opponent. That's what tends to separate a hero from a villain, especially on a kid's cartoon. Plus, Zaheer is too awesome not to come back next season.
4. Officially sold on metalbending now.
5. It took me forever to notice this, but Zaheer has cauliflower ear. Going to take as evidence that that he was a very experienced hand to hand combatant prior to gaining bending, as you only usually see that on pro boxers.
6. I really want to tackle all of Orys' questions but that would take me days.

Last comment: my hope for season 4 is just lower stakes. I guess I don't really want the focus to be on increasingly high-risk Saving the World stuff. In Korra this has always come, for some reason, at the cost of any emotional development. I want them to finally focus on writing the core four characters well, especially since Korra as a person seems to be heading in an intriguing new direction. And now I'm imagining Jinora the adult Airbending Master... Season 3 is very low stakes compared to last season. If there wasn't an epic duel every 10,000 years for the fate of humanity, I'd actually understand the need to remove the Avatar. Killing Hou Ting aside, the Red Lotus are by far the lowest-impact villains thus far.

Amon was way lower impact than the Red Lotus. He staged a failed revolution. The Red Lotus on the other hand actually murdered a world leader, destroyed the Northern Air Temple, and put the Avatar in a freaking wheelchair. It also sounds like they'll be back next season.
Also let's keep in mind that in the original series, Ozai and his predecessors had 100 years of free reign without an avatar interfering. Can you imagine what Amon, Unalaq, or the Red Lotus could have accomplished if Korra was frozen for a century? Ozai would have looked pathetic in comparison.

I disagree. Amon brought anarchy and nearly wiped out an entire race of benders. Admittedly, the Red Lotus pretty much did the exact same thing, but with far fewer dead folks and overt conflict. Killing one queen is very different than actually occupying a city by force and systematically targeting groups. More disturbingly, Amon's philosophy was backed by far more followers and resources.
It's also worth mentioning that all the successes you're attributing to the Red Lotus were all more or less acheieved by Azula in The Crossroads of Destiny.
However, I have to admit, I've got to admire Zaheer's ability to get shit done with so little. It's all been done before, but never with such elegance.

So how does one watch this friggin show? Series one of avatar: the last airbender is on netflix I believe. Legend of Korra, its sequel, is harder to find. Season 3 is up online for free on Nick.com, but finding the previous seasons might be a bit tricky.
